The Hidden She-Wolf

Chapter 32

Ch. 33 / 63 Mar 24, 2026

I spun through another page and I saw a picture of a female. Her hair was like mine but longer. It was like an endless beautiful river. She was gorgeous. I too had her bright blue eyes. A single finger touched the picture of her observing her beauty.

"I'm sorry I had to leave you for a short moment," Madison returned to the living room.

I stood up frightened and dropped the book. The book lay on the floor opening, on the page of the female who resembled me.

Madison looked at me as if she was surprised by the book I had. She then hurriedly came over removing it from the floor.

"I'm sorry," I apologized hoping I didn't offend her in any way, but still I was curious about that book. It was about my kind, The River pack.

"I see you've found the book, my ex-mate wrote about the River Packs while studying them before he fall in love with their Luna," Madison grumbled as she shut the book and angrily threw it back into the box.

I knew it was about us. At that moment I wished I could read to know more about my kind. It seems asking Madison more about the book would turn her into an angry wolf.

I will have to take that chance.

"Let's get back to learning the alphabet," said Madison as she sat next to me.

I returned to my seat as well.

My hand rested on the side of my pink dress nervously, preparing to ask her about the beautiful female I saw in the book. I was curious about who I was to her.

"Madison," I called.

"Yes," her head turned to me from the alphabetical picture book.

"Can I know who that female is in the book?"I asked.

Madison closed the book as if she was troubled by my question.

"I see her beauty as caught your eyes as well," she said seeming to be upset.

"I'm sorry, if I offend you in any way," I apologized swiftly.

"No you didn't, hun," said Madison.

Her head turned away from mine, sadly.

I hated that my question was somehow causing her to be distressed, but I needed to know more about my kind and more importantly who the female was. Was she my mother or the previous Luna before my mother?

"That female you saw is the luna of The River Pack that my mate had fallen in love with," Madison finally answered my question.

"I'm sorry," I again apologized.

I loathed I was allowing her to recollect such painful memory.

"Any way she died after she gave birth to her first pup, during the Grey Pack Members' secret attack."

At that moment I realized that the female I saw was my mom, The Luna of River Pack."

I was astonished.

But, wait, was Madison mate my father?

"On that day my ex-mate not only lost another pup but also his life fighting for his new family," Madison said sadly.

I froze at her by her remark.

Madison's ex-mate was indeed my father.

"Let us not talk about the Luna anymore, as much as I hate saying this, she deserves what happened to her," Madison said angrily.

"Take back what you said!" I yelled at her as I stood up, stunned at what she had said.

Madison looked at me shocked by my words.

"She lost her life and her entire pack. How could you say such a thing, Madison? I thought you were good," I began to cry, hurt by her words.

What had happened to my mom, dad, and my entire pack I would never want it to happen to anyone. No one deserved such evil in their life.

"I'm sorry," Madison apologized.

"I guess I blamed her for being one to make me mate-less, with her attractive and irresistible looks," she explained.

I nodded.

"Please sit down," Madison patted a seat beside her instructing me to.

I did.

My head held away from hers. It was hard to look at her after what she had said about my mother.

"Let me tell you everything about what truly happened between me and my mate before you believe I'm not a good wolf."

I managed to look at her again.

"You see my mate was broken when our firstborn was stolen from us. Before that time frame, he was studying the River Pack Members for a book he wanted to write about them so others could learn about their special abilities in the future, like a history book."

I nodded.

"My ex-mate was a writer," said Madison.

"After we have lost our little girl, Thomas went to seek help from The Luna of The River Pack believing her strange powers could somehow help us. He never came back after that and soon I found out why. He had fallen for the Luna," Madison ended sadly.

I felt pity for her. It seemed she had suffered a badly broken heart.

A single hand rested on her lap trying to solace her.

"You know sometimes I think that he was already in a relationship with her while studying their pack and was just waiting on something bad to happen so he could leave me," Madison cried.

I didn't know what to say to cheer her up, all I could do was hugged her.

I needed to know more about my pack and what the book about them was about but how could I ask and again upset Madison? I will have to learn how to read fast to help myself.

Dwelling with my grandmother for years in the depth of the forest. She barely speaks about my father. I now know why knowing the type of she-wolf my grandmother was. A she-wolf of principles. I believed she hated that my mom was with a wolf who already belonged to someone or was there more about him that displeased her?

"Let's continue your learning later. I'm going to lie down for some time," said Madison as she exited the living room, hurriedly.

I watched her sadly and loathed I am the cause of her sudden sadness.

As I heard her room door close I reached for the book again and went to find the picture of my mother again.

I smiled as I looked at her.

My grandmother had always told me that I looked just like my mother. It was true. I was definitely a twin of hers. I cried as I held the book to my heart wishing I had gotten to know her.

The soft sound of the rain on the glass window allowed my head to turn towards it. I looked at the raindrops slowly running from the glass window and remembered what my grandmother once said about my mom.

She used to love the rain.
