The Hidden She-Wolf

Chapter 43

Ch. 44 / 63 Mar 24, 2026

The night I didn't leave, though I was unsure whether this pack was fit for me, still, I decided to stay.

I was starting to feel connected to Arkane though I didn't know his story. His deep scars under his apparel and knowing how it feels to be hurt by someone you trust, made me stay. Arkane knew how it feels to be hurt based on what he told me last night. I feel it's better to dwell among someone who understands the pain of being hurt.

The night I returned to the building I was to stay at while Arkane was still under the tree watching over us.

I wished Alpha Deucalion was somehow like him, probably life wouldn't have been so difficult for me and I wouldn't be pregnant by rape.

If only the cruel alpha understand pain like Arkane and had scars to show it he wouldn't be so cruel and merciless.

"Everyone come outside breakfast is ready!" I heard a loud shout that awakened me. In a line, I and the she-wolves left our bed going outside.

A large fat wild pig roasting over a large fire greeted us.

Everyone swarmed around it. I just stood away from them at the back watching.

"Jane and Arkane were in the middle of the crowd sharing slices of the roast pig on a large leave for everyone.

"Your strong and skillful alpha catch six wild pigs for you today so there plenty more for later," said Jane happily as she kept sharing the meat.

Arkane eyes motioned to me and my eyes went away from him.

I soon heard him walking over to me and I felt my heart begin to race. I didn't know why he was making me feel so nervous. I guess I wasn't used to being around a wolf who had a rough life like mine.

"Here go," I heard him at my right side.

My head turned to him and in his hand, I saw a big slice of juicy roast pork.

"The biggest slice goes to you and your baby and also for deciding to stay here, Rain," he said.

I gently took it from him. It felt heavy within my hand.

"I'm glad you've decided to stay," he said with a smile and then walked away.

I watched him as he did.

"You're starting to see he's a good alpha isn't it?" I didn't realize Jane was now at my left side.

I looked at her.

"Knowing your story, Arkane now put it on himself to take care of you as everyone around here," said Jane.

I nodded and watched her as she went back to the crowd as well.

What Arkane knew about me wasn't entirely my story, nor was half of it. It would be better that way.

I walked over to a tree where everyone sat on a stone and sat as well. I began to eat. The pork was delicious.

"Water was offered from cups made from wood. I sipped my water.

There was a lot of wolves within his pack, men woman, and children.

I watched a little girl with black eyes sitting beside her pregnant mother who had two black eyes, they eat together. It pained my heart that someone would be so wicked to hurt them.

I hope they will be happy and safe here, I wished as I continued to eat.

"Everyone," I heard Arkane as he gave Jane his drink and meat and stood within the center of us.

We all watched him eagerly to know what he wanted to say to us.

"I'm glad we're all here together and alive for life has been nothing but pain, he said. But in the end, I'm thankful that we all now have a place we can all be free from it, a place we can call home," said Arkane.

I observed everyone smiling in the crowd. I could see within their eyes how much hope they had for him. They believed he could save them from this cruel world and I too was starting to believe.

"Contemplating last night while protecting you all while you sleep, I thought of a name that best represents us, a name that makes us far closer than a family born from the same blood and that is The Pain Pack. For pain is what makes us trust and understand each other and pain is what brings us close and makes us closer than a family of the same blood," he ended.

"Pain Pack!" everyone shouted happy with the name.

"Pain Pack, Pain pack, Pain pack." They kept shouting

I joined them as well leering at Arkane realizing I had found the pack that I belong to.

I once thought all alpha was bad but discovering Arkane, they weren't all.

Arkane hand raised and lowered to calm us down.

"To make this pack a success I'll need strong men to help me protect this pack," he said looking around.

One by one, I saw men joining him in the circle.

"I'll teach you all to be as good fighters as me," he said to them with a smile.

"And also a good hunter, your alpha?" a young male questioned him with a bright smile.

"Yes, I will do that too," he said as he laughed and hugged him.

The crowd again began to cheer.

I smiled happily to dwell among people like me who know what was pain. Wolves who wanted to be free from it just like me with the right Alpha to lead us.

I felt a touch on my shoulder, my head spun and I saw it was Jane.

"Follow me," she instructed.

I followed her until we were in the health area.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked eagerly as we now stood face to face.

"If you've truly decided to keep that rape pup?" Jane asked.

My head lowered staring at my belly.

I didn't. I didn't want to be pregnant nor did I want to kill my baby. It felt wrong.

"I know you feel it's wrong to get rid of it for it's a life inside of you," I heard Jane.

My head went back to her and I gave her a sad look.

"Rain, Many mothers feel the same, but when they eventually do it. They no longer feel bad about it anymore, for they know they never wanted a pup in that way."

"I'm sorry, but I can't do this," I told her.

"Well, it's your decision," retorted Jane.

I walked away from her leaving the small building. I suddenly stopped discovering someone who was not a part of the Pain Pack.

Who was he?

"A grey pack member," I heard members of the Pain Pack.

I ran back into the building and hid not wanting them to see me.

There were two of them.

I breathe terrified that the pack still existed. I thought Alpha Deucalion had made them extinct.

Jane looked at me seeing how frightened I was.

"Stay inside no one can come in here to hurt you," she told me and hurriedly left.

I lowered myself to the floor and curled up scared.

"What are you doing here? I heard Arkane. "I thought your pack was extinct."

"I came for you and your new pack to join us," I heard the member of The Grey retort.

I peeped through a hole in the building and there I saw Arkane and the member of The Grey Pack face to face as if they were going to fight.

"No one is interested in your pack, leave or I'll have to kill you," Arkane threatened him.

His face was dead serious.

The grey pack member stepped away from him as if he was scared.

"I'm the son of the Alpha of The Grey Pack, who is interested in joining me to take down Alpha Deucalion and his pack join me, and let s get revenge" he yelled looking at the crowd.

"I said leave!" Arkane growled at him.

"Who wants to join me and make Alpha Deucalion pay for all the troubles he has caused us!" again he yelled.

Alpha Arkane grabbed him by the neck.

Alpha Arkane was soon frightened when he saw several of his men were willing to join the Grey Pack.

Arkane shoved The Grey Pack member away as he laughed seeing that some of his pack members had decided to join him.

Who's with me stay but who not go!" yelled Arkane angrily.

The rest of the pack members stood behind Arkane not wanting to leave.

"Leave now!" Arkane yelled at the Grey Pack member.

"Are you sure you don't want to join me as well, knowing you have a bad history with Alpha Deucalion ?" asked the Grey Pack Member.

My eyes widened at what he had said.

Was the scars on his pack created by Alpha Deucalion, I now couldn't help thinking.

As the Grey pack and his new members walked away. I spun around.

Jane had returned after calming down Arkane.

"Was it a member of the grey pack who raped you?" Jane asked looking down at me on the floor.

I nodded sadly.

That wasn't all, they were the ones who killed my entire pack as well. That was something I could not tell anyone.

As Jane lowered to touch my hand in comforting me. My eyes went to Arkane who was now standing at the door looking down at me. He looked at me sadly hearing Jane and me.
