The Hidden She-Wolf

Chapter 36

Ch. 37 / 63 Mar 24, 2026

"Rain, I've placed your clean clothes in the closet," said Madison.

"Yes," I answered as I studied my naked human form in the large bathroom mirror.

"Do you have a clean pair of clothes to wear in the bathroom?" Madison asked, now standing outside at the door of the bathroom.

"Yes," I again replied glancing at the blue jeans pant and light blue blouse I had chosen myself to wear.

"Okay, I'll be downstairs. Don't take too long, remember you have learning to do after breakfast," Madison went off.

I touched my belly hating how it changed since my stay with Madison. My finger pressed into it. It felt hard and it was round and fat. It's like everything I've consumed the fat transferred only into that section.

I hit it loathing how weird I look with a bloated belly. I growled in pain and held my belly, hitting myself too hard.

"Are you alright up there?" Madison asked.

"I'm fine," I retorted as I started putting on my clothes.

I put on my pants last. It was hard to button but I managed to. I smiled seeing the tight pant held down my belly making it look flat like it used to look. I'll have to start watching my weight.

When I went downstairs, breakfast was waiting on me. Fry sausages, my favorite, and egg I wasn't a big fan of.

I had totally forgotten I had planned to control the amount of food I intake but the breakfast was too delicious to take my plan seriously. I ate hungrily Madison was surprised when she returned to the dining room with the hot beverage that I was already through.

I smiled at her, feeling embarrassed.

She gave me the warm milk and sat to have her meal as well.

"Today I'll not only teach you the alphabet but also the sounds," said Madison as I sipped down the tea.

We soon heard the door knock.

"I'll be right back," said Madison as she went to open the door.

Suddenly I heard a loud crashing sound. I quickly ran to see what had happened. My eyes widen seeing Madison on the floor, unconscious, but, she was not alone a man was on the floor beside her with his hand supporting her head.

"Leave her!" I screamed at him.

His hand supporting her quickly moved from under his head and his face turned to me as he stood. As I saw his eyes, I know who he was immediate. He was the sad wolf I saw in the forest coming to have a drink by the river. The one who asked me about my tail.

"Arlene," he called as he leered at me.

I quickly moved backward frightened of how he knew that name, that was my mom's name.

Who was he?

I couldn't allow him to know I was a member of The River Pack or that I was related to Arlene. I didn't know who he was and the threat he could be.

"I don't know who is Arlene," I lied. "Leave this house are I'll be forced to attack you!" I yelled at him.

"I wish not to fight," both his hand raised before him showing me he had no interest to.

But seeing Madison lying unconscious on the floor, I growled at him and my claw emerged from my fingers ready to protect Madison with my life. Madison had protected me so many times, It was my time now and I was not going to fail her.

As I ran to him. I heard Madison stopping me.

"No, Rain," she yelled.

I was so happy she was fine. I ran over to her to help her from the floor.

Madison began to cry as I did.

"I thought you were dead," she wept.

I soon realized who the man was and why he called me Arlene.

He was my father, Thomas Harpen.

I froze staring at him.

I couldn't believe it was my father standing before me. My mom's lover and the one I shared blood with.

"I'll explain everything," my father told Madison.

Madison slowly walked over to him. He held her hand and they both began to walk into the dining room.

I followed but Madison stopped me, instructing me that she needed to be alone with him for some time.

I nodded.

As they both did my father glanced at me curiously until they were in the living room.

As much as I was happy that I had a parent that was still alive. I was now scared of losing Madison. If she knew I'm her ex-mate and lover, child. I fear she will hate me as well. I too wasn't ready for anyone to know about me.

I felt bad eavesdropping on Madison and my father's private conversation but I needed to know what they were talking about. I secretly left the house and stood outside at a window to the living room listening carefully to them.

"Madison, I know I hurt you badly after we both lost our firstborn," I heard my father.

"I would never be so angry at you if you had left me and stayed by yourself, for I know that you are broken as I am but you left me for someone else after what had happened to our daughter, and I can never forgive you for that," argued Madison.

I was saddened by her words.

"I never loved her. Actually, I thought I did," my father responded. "I discovered I was just using her to try and forget the pain of losing my daughter and for being a weak mate to you."

I was now hurt by my father's words. I slowly peeked through the window and there I saw him holding Madison's hands as they sat next to each other on the sofa.

At that moment I truly realized why my grandmother never spoke about my father. He never loved her daughter, my mother, and was just using her.

Hatred built in my heart for my father.

"I was going to leave her but when I found out my foolish actions had caused her to become pregnant, I had no choice but to stay and live with the horrible mistake I had created."

My eyes widened at my father's words.

"How are you still alive?" Madison's hands pulled away and she walked from him.

"I went for a morning stroll when she was giving birth in the hope of not returning," retorted my father as he lowered his head.

My father was planning on leaving my mom before I was born. I thought sadly.

"I couldn't stand to be with her anymore even though she was a wonderful wolf but her having a baby for me so quick, I foolishly grew hatred for her," he continued.

"I tried leaving her without her knowing but I feel like I was letting down another she-wolf and I couldn't manage to dwell with any more pain and so I returned. When I did I saw that everyone was dead and the place was burned down and so I went into hiding allowing everyone to believe I too was dead," he cried.

Madison went to hug him.

Seeing my father wasn't the wolf I thought he would be, I decided to allow him to believe I too was dead. I wanted nothing to do with him knowing he never loved my mother. I shifted and ran off into the hoods, hurt.
