The Hidden She-Wolf

Chapter 56

Ch. 57 / 63 Mar 24, 2026

Salem's P.O.V

"That's not my problem," I run away.

"Salem, Salem," I heard Alpha Arkane called catching upon me.

He stopped me at the bank of the river.

I folded my arms in anger and my head kept away from him.

"We can't focus on our feelings right now, for they need our help," said Alpha Arkane.

"As I've told Alaric, that is not my problem," my head turned to him as I repeated myself.

Alpha Arkane looked me in the eyes disappointedly.

"Salem," Alpha Arkane held one of my hands. "Please think about the children who will suffer a great cause if you don't give them a hand."

I pulled my hand away from his and I turned my back, still not interested in helping them. What was happening wasn't my fight. I was not interested to save alpha Deucalion's pack after all what was happening was his fault. He not only made himself my enemy but others as well and like everything he had done to me. He was going to make his pack suffer as well.

"Well if you're not, I'll go," I heard Alpha Arkane Ran off.

I watched him as he did.

I didn't move from the same spot Alpha Arkane left me as he ran off with Alaric along with some of his fighters to save the cruel alpha pack, instead, I sat down.

My head lifted as I heard someone approaching me. It was Jane.

She came close to me and sat down.

I looked at her and soon my head lowered back to the river.

"Jane," I called.

She answered.

"Would you say I'm cruel because I refuse to help The Dark Blood Pack?" I asked feeling guilty for my action.

"No, you're just hurt and his having a hard time dealing with it."

I looked at her and smiled.

It was good she didn't think I was, however I was concerned that Alaric would.

"You feel bad because of Alaric, isn't it?" Jane asked as if she could read my mind.

I nodded.

"Don't worry, he won't be upset with you. Let's just hope everything will go well and he'll be back soon."

Jane touched my shoulder to solace me.

"I want you to help me with something," she then said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I want you to create a portal with your lightning ability and bring me back to the woman who stole me from my real mom."

I looked at her stunned.

"No, I can't do it," I got up shaking my head.

"You're a river pack and I've read that you have the powers to."

"Yes, I do but I've never done so with a human. What if I end up slicing you into pieces."

"I can teach you."

I looked at her confused.

"Give me a minute I'll be right back," she ran off.

Soon, she returned. I was stunned to see what was in her hands. She had one of the books that Madison burn. A book that my dad wrote.

"Where did you get this?" I asked surprisingly.

"I bought it."

I took the book from her and I went to the page I remembered seeing my mom.

"Is she your mom?" Jane watched me as my finger traced the image of my mom.

"Yes," I retorted and fought back my tears.

I didn't want to soak the book.

"She is beautiful."

I nodded pressing my lips tightly together in sadness.

Jane hugged me.

"You're lucky to be able to see your mom. I have never seen mine," Jane said sadly.

"I'll help you if you teach me to take control of my powers," I told her handing the book.

She smiled.

I watched her as she spun through the book.

If there's a chance to help someone find happiness I would be happy to do so.

"Here you go," Jane placed the book before me.

I looked at it strangely not being to read.

"Are you okay?" Jane was worried about me.

"I can't read."

"I understand, but don't worry I'll help you once I find my real mom."

I smiled.

Jane read the book out loud and I listen.

I discovered all I had to do was to focus on where I wanted to go and a portal made from lightning would appear. I also could make a portal for someone but I needed to hold their hands.

Jane placed the book into her backpack.

"Are you ready?" she gave me her hand.

I nodded and held it.

Both our eyes close. I focus my attention on the portal while Jane thought about where she wanted the portal to carry us.

Our eyes opened as we felt a strong wind in our faces in amazement. The portal had emerged before us. Inside the portal was a small home in the forest. Jane and I looked at each other astound.

"Let's go," she said excitedly.

We both did. The portal closed as we entered. I was a bit worried about it.

"Come on let's go," said Jane.

We both approached the home. Soon Jane stopped.

"Are you okay?" I saw how sad Jane was.

"I didn't know it was not going to be easy seeing the one who robbed me of a good life I could have had," she became in tears.

"Don't worry, I'll be by your side," I tried to cheer her up. "And if she tries to attack you I'll electrocute her."

Jane smiled wiping away her tears.

We got to the door and Jane knocked. Within a minute the door was opened by an elderly she-wolf.

"Mom," Jane called.

"Jane," she retorted surprisingly.

The dark hair she-wolf soon began to break down in tears.

"I'm sorry, " she apologized.

Jane's face made gravely as she wiped away her tears.

"I'm not here for an apology. I want to know who was my real mom. The one who you stole me from," Jane spoke angrily.

"I didn't know your mom," she confessed.

Jane was so angry she walked away. I followed her.

She was upset that we both came here in vain

"Wait," we were both stopped.

The she-wolf closed her door and ran to us.

"But I do know your father," she said.

"What is his name?" asked Jane.

"His name is Thomas Harpen and he's from the Dark Blood Pack. It was there I stole you."

My eyes widened at what she had said. Jane and I were sisters. I couldn't believe it.

The elderly she-wolf returned to her home and I just froze there.

"Salem, We have to get to The Dark Blood Pack or I would never know my father of what is happening there now," Jane said hastily.

"We're sister," these words escape my lips as I remained stood still, surprisingly.

"What!" Jane looked at me shockingly.

"And I know who your mom is."

Her eyes widened.
