The Hidden She-Wolf

Chapter 60

Ch. 61 / 63 Mar 24, 2026

Salem P.O.V

Lydia hasn't left Alpha Arkane since she came to him, and neither did Alpha Arkane want her to. He would hold her close at his side where ever he went. I watched him as he carried her to his home and closes his door.

"It looks like our alpha is going to mark his Luna, for I see no mark on her neck" I heard she-wolves gossiping.

I kept staring at his closed door eager for it to be open. I remembered Madison once informing me what happened between a wolf when they found their mate, they make love and during that time, the male would mark the female, leaving a tiny mark on her neck that shows she belongs to him. I didn't want Alpha Arkane to mark her, I wanted him to mark me instead.

I felt a touch on my shoulder from behind and I spun around, it was Jane.

"Salem I have been calling you for a long time," Jane complained.

"I'm sorry," I apologized.

Jane observed me and soon she realized I was still in the same clothes.

"I thought you went to freshen up as well," she said.

A suspicious look appeared on her face and she discovered why I haven't.

"Salem," she called my name disappointedly.

Jane pulled me away and carried me to the health area, where she was in charge.

"Salem, it's not right falling for another wolf mate," she said.

"Then why does it feel right for me," I responded.

Jane looked at me sadly then she spoke, "Salem, you need to fight those feelings or you're going to feel miserable seeing him with her all the time."

I nodded, it was true.

"Do you think he's marking her as the she-wolves as said?" I asked Jane curiously.

"Yes, for I've somehow secretly heard their conversation," said Jane. "Lydia has run away from home and she wants Alpha Arkane to mark her before her alpha dad finds her."

I was stunned by the news, causing my eyes to motion to Alpha Arkane's home. A thought came into my mind that I should stop it from happening, stop Lydia from being marked by Alpha Arkane. It was wrong to think of such a thing for Alpha Arkane wasn't mine but I wanted him to be.

"I'm going to take a bath," I told Jane.

"Okay," she responded.

I watched Jane go off. I had lied I was going to take a bath, what I wanted to do was to stop Lydia from being marked by Alpha Arkane, it was sick what I was about to do, but I feared losing Alpha Arkane to her.

Alpha Arkane's home was made from straw and there was fire not too far from it. I bite my nails hating what I was about to do, I just can't afford to lose him. I looked if anyone was watching me, I hurriedly removed a lump of coal from the fire, a large piece, and place it behind Alpha Arkane's home. I immediately went to the river as I did.

While I was in the river taking a bath I hoped Alpha Arkane hasn't marked her as yet and that her father comes in time before he tries again, that's if my plan hinder them from mating.

"Fire! Fire!" I heard a she-wolf shout.

I dived into the water not wanting to hear what was happening. Within a few minutes, from above the water, I saw Jane calling me. I swam to her.

"Make it rain, Salem, Alpha Arkane's home is burning down."

I began to panic knowing it was me who cause it and if Alpha Arkane finds out I did it, he would be very disappointed, he may never forgive me.

"I can't, I can't," I couldn't cry.

Jane was frustrated and returned back to the fire.

What have I done? I worried.

I regretted what I did, I wished I had thought about my actions before I did, instead, I did it without thinking at all.

I tried to relax and make it rain, I managed to do so. The tears couldn't stop coming down when I did, I felt so wrong by my actions. When I returned back to where all the homes were, I saw that Alpha Arkane's home was entirely burned down.

I was worried about him and so I ran to Jane hoping he was there, he was.

I found him crying in Jane's's arms, it was the first I saw him cry.

"Where is Lydia?" I was worried that I'd somehow hurt her.

Alpha Arkane didn't answer me instead Jane.

"Her father took her away before he could mark her."

I should be cheering inside that my plan had worked. I've got what I've wanted, but seeing Alpha Arkane in such a sad state, I couldn't. I realized I was selfish in what I did.

I exit Jane's home feeling ashamed. I had ruined Alpha Arkane's life with Lydia.

I once thought why the moon goddess paired me with Alpha Deucalion, why did she allow me to be his mate? I now know why, we were no different, we were both the same and that was selfish.
