Wolf by wolf the lost laid their object to commemorate their lost ones while the ones who had found their mate held each other closely, and the ones who didn't, hope for the next full moon they would be lucky to find their mate.
Madison slowly walked to the trees and kiss the stuffed toy she had chosen for her daughter laying it beneath the tree. I followed behind placing the small container with the droplet of rain. We then held hands leaving the tree together.
I thought the event was through after we've commemorated our loved ones but it wasn't. There was an after-celebration within the alpha's home.
"I don't want to enter his home?" I paused before the alpha's home as I told Madison sadly.
Madison stopped and looked at me.
As she was about to say something a short dark haired female approached us.
She ran to Madison and hugged her happily from behind.
Madison turned around returning her hug, delighted to see her.
"I thought you weren't going to come," said Madison to the strange she-wolf I was now curious about.
Who was she to Madison? I was eager to know.
I observed her perceiving she was young. She perhaps is my age, eighteen, I guessed.
"My mate had a lot of business matters to attend to and I wasn't sure he'll be through for us to attend the event," she retorted.
They again hugged.
She was beautiful but there was something about her that kept reminding me of the cruel alpha.
"I'm sorry, Cali, this is Rain, she's a young she-wolf who now dwells with me," Madison introduced me.
Her eyes lightened to see Madison darkened with curiosity having the same look when the alpha was worried about me staying with Madison as if I was going to hurt her.
Her head slowly nodded greeting me. I did the same.
"Rain and this is Cali, my niece, the alpha's little sister."
I was surprised by her comment but managed to hide it.
I nodded, returning her stare as she looked at me.
"Aunt, can I speak to you alone?" Cali's eyes quickly went away from mine.
"I'll be right back," Madison gently touched me and spun around leaving with her niece.
I watched them as they went onto the alpha's porch.
Cali glanced at me giving me a grave look and her back turned speaking to Madison.
I wanted to listen to what she wanted to say to Madison but it didn't feel right to.
My back turned to look away from them and I admired the beauty of the hill.
A small touch against my shoulder allowed me to spin back around and there I saw it was Alaric.
He smiled at me. I smile shyly at him.
"Aren't you going to go inside and get something to eat?" he asked as his eyes leered into mine.
"There's plenty of food inside and too delicious," he informed me.
I shook my head, informing him no and my head lowered.
A sad look appeared in his eyes.
"I understand why you don't want to," he said. "
I looked at him instantly.
"Is it because of the horrible times in his home?" he said.
I looked at him as if I was speechless.
"Alaric, come here!" I heard the alpha yell.
"I got to go I hope to see you around again," said Alaric as he run off quickly.
I watched him as he did. I immediately stopped as my eyes met the alpha. His face was grave.
Been reminded of how cruel he can be when he's in a bad mood. I couldn't help being worried about Alaric. I secretly watched them sideways as Alaric now stood before him.
"What did I tell you?" I eased dropped of their conversation.
"I should keep my distance from her," I heard Alaric in a submissive tone.
My eyes widen at his comment.
As Alaric walked away from him and entered his home. I spun around with rage and my hand tightened into a fist. I couldn't believe what the alpha had wanted him to do. But why?
I knew the alpha's strange kindness towards me was just guilt, and shame of what he had allowed to happen to me. He never truly wanted me to be a part of his pack.
"Rain," I heard Madison behind me.
I spun to her. My eyes went to Cali as I did, she glanced at me before entering the alpha's home.
"I know you don't want to stay at the after-event, but I really want to," said Madison.
"I haven't met my niece for a long time and her baby daughter and mate are inside I haven't seen them for a while," Madison was determined to attend the after-event.
"You can go, I'll be home, waiting for you," I told her.
Madison smiled and hugged me.
"I'll come home as soon as the event is through," said Madison.
I nodded.
As Madison hurriedly went back inside I returned to her home.

The house was quiet and lonely without Madison. I curled up in my bed waiting on her to return.
Life without anyone to call your own was not a good life, I thought sadly.
I had slept waiting on Madison to return home when I had gotten up It was dark outside but still Madison hasn't arrived. I was hungry and so I went downstairs to get something to eat. Though Madison had warned me not to eat raw sausages. I feared using the stove without her around and so I ate them raw and continued my waiting on Madison in the living room.
It was midnight when I heard Madison walk through the front door. I went to meet her.
"I thought you'd be sleeping," Madison said with a smile on her face.
It seemed she had a wonderful time at the event.
"I was," I retorted staring at her.
"I wished you had stayed at the after-event, the alpha wasn't there and you would have a wonderful time as well," she told me.
"I wonder where he could have possibly been, he's normally at the after-event as well?" Madison said curiously.
My head turned away not caring where he was.
"Anyways, I'm tired and I'm going to get some sleep," said Madison.
I watched her as she did.
I was glad that Madison was finally home. I went back to bed.
I jumped up as I heard a sound at my window as if someone was there. I quickly looked outside and I saw a bushed moving as if someone had run past it, brushing against it.
"Probably, it's just the wind," I said as I close the curtain of my window and went back to sleep.
