My smile died when I stepped into the extra class. Samantha was glaring at me with her group. I whirled to leave.
"Miss Emma, take your seat." Professor Megan said, her expression was hard. She must have guessed that I was thinking of running away.
Another set of piercing amber eyes locked on me. She was taller than Miss Maria, her black gown was more expensive than a teacher should.
"Class," Professor Megan raised her voice, "Mrs Katherine Dawson is teaching you for next week. Good luck, class." She nodded in a friendly way toward Mrs Dawson.
Mrs Dawson returned the gesture and looked at the seat. I looked around to slip away from the glass.
"Miss Emma!" Her voice was thundering when she called my name.
I jerked out of my thoughts and looked at seething Mrs Dawson. What was her problem? She could treat me better.
"Yes, Mrs Dawson." I paid her full attention though, I wanted to shoo out of the class.
"Are you planning to skip the class?" Her lips were pressed in a straight line, "You're expert in skipping class,"
She doesn't like humans, particularly me. I didn't do anything to upset her. Why doesn't she ask me to leave the class?
"No," I lied.
She smirked. She looked at me as an evil woman in a beautiful castle.
F***! She must have smelled me lying. I don't care.
"What's the difference between Lycan and Wolf?" She asked, her gaze pinning me.
"I don't know," I replied.
Her eyes narrowed on me, "Tell me the name of remedy herbs for deep wounds," She said.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know," I was hoping she would ask me to leave the class immediately.
"I don't understand. What's she doing here?" I heard Samantha mocking me and laughing.
"She doesn't know the basic answers," Another taunt and students laughed.
"Why is she even allowed here?"
"Show her out,"
The bout of admonishment wiped all my confidence. I lifted my feet to leave the class.
"Samantha, bring the cane." Mrs Dawson demanded.
"You must be kidding." I blurted out, looking at her with big eyes. Fear began to rise in the pit of my stomach.
Her eyes shone darkly. Samantha handed her the cane without a word to her.
Mrs Dawson grasped the cane, "A human should be punished with their way. Show me your palm,"
"Do it, Emma. Palm is better than your body." I heard other students laughing behind me.
Reluctantly, I held my palm open. She didn't even give me time to breathe and hit me hard over my palm. The pain shot through my palm. Tears welled in my eyes. She lifted it one more time and hit me hard again.
"Get out of my sight," She bellowed, throwing the cane away.
I grasped my wrist to stop the pain from spreading. I advanced toward the door.
"In that corner you, dolt!" Mrs Dawson bellowed again.
The entire class laughed. Humiliated, I walked over to the corner. I unfurled my palm and stared at the three bright red lines.
She's cruel b****. I don't care if she's older than me. I won't ever respect her.
I spun and looked out of the glass window to find a familiar face. Drake was standing in a group with his friends. One of them looked at me. I gestured with my finger at Drake.
He tapped on his shoulder and motioned at me.
Drake looked at me.
I was hiccuping, "Silver," I mouthed. I prayed to whoever was listening to me.
"Did I tell you to look out of the window?" Mrs Dawson shouted.
I spun hearing her crude tone again. I clenched my jaw in anger. She smirked and raised the cane again.
I pushed myself back, my eyes focused on the door. Drake came with his friends, "Katherine!" His voice was full of rage.
I felt relieved breathing out. Her hand stopped, her expression turned dark, "Drake," Impossibly, her voice was soft.
Drake ignored and trudged forward, "Did she hurt you?" He asked me, raking his rare eyes over my face.
I glanced down at my palm. No one was laughing, throwing comments at me now.
Drake held my hand tenderly. I sobbed in pain. He slowly unfurled my palm. He growled staring down at three red lines.
"She did this to you," He growled, his voice changed.
I nodded instantly like a little kid, complaining to my elder brother.
"Get out of my class, Drake. You..." His eyes glowed amber, cutting her off.
He drew his arm around my shoulder leading me out of the room. His friend bowed his head and strode away.
"Silver," I said in my broken voice.
"I've informed her." He said, hurrying me out of the class.
My arm was shivering in his hand. It wasn't cold entirely, "She's horrible," I choked.
"Are you cold?" He tightened his hold. Impossibly, he was so warm.
"Werewolf doesn't feel cold," I remembered from the book.
All the passersby were looking at us and then their gazes zoomed over my palm. I tried to clench it but immense pain shot through it.
"Sit down," He said, reaching the bench in the sun.
"Drake," A girl with a high ponytail and black pants and tee gave him a medical kit.
"Thanks, Mari." He nodded at the girl, taking it from his hand, "Fetch me a chair,"
Mari grabbed a chair from the next table and slid in front of me. He sat down. The sickening sense of dread was still surrounding me.
"You should object to it," Drake said, his eyes glowing.
"She's a werewolf. I'm just a human." Tears were still rolling down. The pain was unbearable. I never thought that something could hurt like this.
"Oh! God!" I heard Silver. Elizabeth was one step behind her.
"Daughter and mother, both are cruel," Elizabeth exasperated.
"It's going to burn," Drake said, cupping my hand in his.
"It's already burning," I said.
"I need to talk to Alessandro." Silver twirled on her heels rushing to the headmaster's office.
Elizabeth wiped my eyes, "It will heal soon."
The burning made me grit my teeth. More tears streamed down, "We have to heal them before..." Elizabeth trailed.
"Her healing power isn't faster like us," Drake said.
Elizabeth gulped. I glanced up at her with my wet eyes, "It would take some time. I'd be really happy if you could help me. I don't wanna attend that class again." I said.
"You're not attending her class ever," Drake said, his voice full of authority.
I nodded looking in his rare eyes, hoping I wouldn't have to go in that class ever.
"Did no one try to help you?" Elizabeth asked.
Looking up at her, tears were at bay and welled up immediately. I shook my head, "They were enjoying it." I complained. I was feeling like a little girl. I was missing my mother.
"I'll make sure they regret their behaviour." Drake's voice was promising. He removed his hand when I stopped to clench my hand, "Take her to her room,"
Elizabeth tugged me up. We were about to turn when Silver halted with Alessandro and Donovan.
It felt unnecessary now, "Hi, Alex." I forced a smile on my face. Cold dread seeped through me. I didn't want to extend the matter. I hate her for doing this to me. I didn't know the exact reason for her hatred but it would add oil to the burning fire.
His gaze drifted over my opened palm, "Justin, send someone to tell Mrs Dawson to be in my office, now." He said exasperatedly.
My face is as white as a sheet. It was getting worse.
"No need to do this," I whispered.
"Miss Emma," My eyes snapped at Mr Wolfe, "Your security is my liability." He said and whirled.
"Come," Alessandro said, spinning and walking behind Mr Wolfe.
Their feet were making noise as we all glided toward his office. Only my feet were making soft noises. I glanced at Silver with beseeching eyes. I didn't want to face this.
Silver's gaze turned to Alessandro, "You can take Emma to her room." Alessandro said. I breathed out, feeling relieved. They could recite their rules to Katherine. I couldn't take more stress.
Drake followed them.
"What's going to happen?" I ask Silver in a low voice.
"Mr Wolfe is back. He won't be unfair." She said,
I wasn't thinking about justice, "Thank you. I don't want to see her again. She just hates me. I don't know why?" My gaze turned to my palm, it was burning, painful.
"She's Samantha's mother." Silver said.
That explains a lot of things. I tilted my head to one side, "She hates me. Indeed, both hate me." The nervous energy coursing through my veins, "I don't wanna think about them,"
"Do you wanna eat something?" Elizabeth asked, coming to our side.
"Where were you?" Silver asked.
"I wanted to go to the office but your mate," Elizabeth thinned her lips.
Silver took out her phone and hovered her thumb over the display, "Hm, are you hungry, Emma? We can go out." She said.
"Out? Out of academy?" I asked.
She nodded with a soft smile.
"Not happening. No one would allow
her out of the academy after Vampire's attack." Elizabeth shook her head.
"Pretty true," I muttered. The realisation sends a cold shiver down my spine. I couldn't forget them, red eyes, nasty smell. I couldn't shake the feeling of tension in my shoulders, "Where's Dastien?" I asked without thinking
Their faces were ashen as they looked at me with big eyes, "You're not planning to tell him. Are you?" Silver asked.
"No," I look down at my palm. The white creamy ointment was showing my torn skin, "He'd be furious," I muttered.
"Worse than that," Elizabeth said,
I was discussing the man I liked. Thankfully, they weren't digging their noses and asking questions. We kept on moving. Students barely looked our way.
