Chapter 25

Ch. 25 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

I woke up with a jolt. I closed my eyes again. A blush crept over my face. My hand shot over my forehead, the sound of my palm hitting echoed in my ears.

'It's a dream. I can't go out with him, at his place, hot chocolate, his lips.'

Blushing, I shook my head. My finger felt something soft under my fingers. My eyes snapped open, "No!" My eyes drifted toward my hand. My eyes widened in shock, I gulped looking down at the soft blanket. It wasn't a dream. Disbelief crawled inside me.

I hurried to my feet and gathered the blanket in my hands. I opened the cupboard and thrust it inside and locked it again. My shoulders were moving with shallow breathing.

I placed my head against it and stared at the door, "It wasn't any dream." A smile appeared on my face again.

"Emma," I was startled by hearing the loud voice of Elizabeth. She waved at me. I let out a slow breath of relief.

"Hi, morning," I tucked my hair behind my ears. Thank goodness! I hid it before she could see it. I wanted to keep it to myself for now.

"Are you ok?" She asked. A line formed between her eyebrows.

"Yeah! Yeah! I should get ready. Where's Silver?" I asked her, hoping she would forget my awkward behaviour.

"Gym with Alex," Elizabeth whirled to the door, giggling.

I relaxed against the cupboard, exhaling the breath out of my body, "What would I do with his blanket?" I blushed. I was happy recalling last night. It wasn't any dream but true. I lifted my hands to clap in excitement.

I shouldn't forget his mate. I reminded myself. Shaking my head, I pushed myself away. My feet quickened toward the washroom. I couldn't neglect sadness engulfing me.

Reluctantly, I was attending the class again. My heart kept racing as it was also trying to run away.

'We should keep the blanket.' The voice in my head said. I could feel merriment.

My eyebrows shot up. ' Where is this voice coming from? My head? Or my heart? I wanna keep it too. It seems risky, no one should know about it. The secret is a secret. His mate would kill me.' My brows creased together in irritation.

"You're sparing today." Professor Megan said, staring at me.

My jaw dropped and my heart began to thump, "Spar with each other?" I muttered under my breath with a shocked expression. My head already began to shake from left to right and right to left.

"Yes, Miss Emma. You're also included." She said, her lips slightly pressed together. It wasn't for me, for sure!

I gulped. My gaze landed on Samantha and other members of her gang. Their evil smirk was over their beautiful faces, promising me something unpleasant. She was going to enjoy seeing my ass get kicked. All were excited except me. Why would I want anyone to beat me? That'd be lunatic.

The professor began to pair students. I exhaled and calmness settled in the pit of my stomach when I wasn't paired with Samantha or any other member of her gang.

"Max, you're paired with Emma." Professor Megan said.

"Ok, professor." Max nodded, smirking at me.

Now I was thinking I should have punched him that day. It would have wiped his boasting smirk. He approached me. I was standing on the far side of the room.

"Hi," He started to circle me.

I glared at him. Shouldn't he ask for my permission? " I'm not interested. Find someone else." I waved him off and took a step forward to find a safe place away from me. Max blocked my path jumping in front of me.

I jumped taking two steps back and peered at him with big eyes. He's strong. I'm going to the hospital and won't return before ten days. Unannounced, he threw a punch at me. I squealed and stumbled back.

I balanced myself instantly, "Hm, good. Try to dodge me. You need to learn to keep yourself safe first." He said, unfurling his fist in front of my face.

I blinked, contemplating. That could work with me. Slowly I nodded my head.

He nodded back, "Let's start." He landed another punch in my way. His face was serious.

I stepped back again. He was fast like others in the room. He swirled on his feet and punched me in the stomach. It was a soft hit. He wasn't even using his half power.

"Focus, " He looked in my eyes, "Eyes here." He gestured at his fisted hands lifting, bringing it close to his face, "Don't look away." He instructed.

Gulping, I nodded. For the next thirty minutes, I focused my gaze on his hands. Keeping my full attention to dodge or move away when his fisted hands extended in my way. The speed was also not fast like the rest fighters in the class.

"Thanks," I smiled. I couldn't survive in this class without his help.

He smirked, his cheeks flushed. I couldn't understand this, "It's my pleasure. We'll work on your legs, next day." He sighed, "Step by step. It'd be easy for you," his smile returned on his face.

I grabbed my backpack and started to walk out of the hall. I was sweating. It was the first day but I wasn't planning to continue it. It was a hard job. It seemed easy but it wasn't.

I shook my head looking at him, "Sorry, I am not planning to." I said.

'Haven't you seen Duante? He's so se**.'

I lowered my chin, digging my gaze down. I could feel heat crawling my cheeks. I would embarrass myself. My head needed to stop this.

He drifted toward me, his shirt was still missing, "Hi, you did great today." His voice was encouraging.

"Thank you for showing confidence in me. But I don't see myself punching someone." I made my way toward the lawn.

"Emma, I'm not asking you to punch me. You tried to get rid of this class but all in vain. Let me help you. You can learn something good." He gave me a full smile.

"Listen, I really appreciate your help. But I don't wanna continue this class. I'll talk to Alex." I explained.

His smirk deepened, "Alex! Cool. But you let me pair with you until. " He asked, hopefully.

I nodded, " Sure. Thanks again." He wasn't bad like haters.

He shook his head, "See you soon." He said and walked back to the gym hall to collect his things. I made my way to my room.

I need a shower and I need to talk to Silver. If she can't talk to Alessandro about the matter. I'm going to do it myself.

I threw myself on the bed. My body grew weak. I hadn't fought in reality. I was feeling hungry but I had no power to walk to the cafeteria.

I closed my eyes. The darkness engulfed me.

When I woke up. To my astonishment, it was dark out of the window. I checked the clock, "Four o'clock in the morning," My eyes widened.

'My friends didn't come to wake me up.' I growled inwardly. Sisily must be waiting for me.

I climbed down off the bed. I need to shower and see why they haven't come to check on me?

Shivers wracked my body. It was cold in the morning.

I paced to the cafeteria. It was too early to start my day at the academy but I could see students running, exercising, morning-walk. They enjoyed mornings which I usually didn't do.

I smiled when I saw the cafeteria was open this early too. I took a long shower to push away the laziness and sleepiness. I knocked on Elizabeth and Silver's door but I got no response. I used this opportunity and folded his blanket and neatly kept it back in the cupboard. I hadn't seen him.

'I miss him,' A weak voice came from my head. I rolled my eyes.

"Where are you all?" I murmured to myself.

I grabbed the plate and served myself steaming pasta. My mouth watered. I hadn't felt so hungry before.

I ambled toward the nearby table and slid the plate before sitting down. I grabbed the spoon and shoved the streaming pasta in my mouth. It was burning my tongue. I was starving. I didn't care. I chewed on my food properly.

"Where are your friends?" Samantha asked, looking around. A smirk was clearly visible over her face.

"Why don't you call them?" I grabbed my plate and got on my feet. I wanted to eat peacefully.

Her friend, I did not know her name, blocked my way. They were just annoying me. I moved left to walk away. She grabbed my arm and dug her fingers clenching her hand. Fear built in my chest. Her grip began painfully hurting. The plate fell from hand and broke into pieces.

Instead of anger, I used my brain, "She's using you." I told her.

Her eyes turned bug slightly and shifted to Samantha. Her mocking expression vanished. I breathed out slowly as her grip began to lose.

"Alex would suspend you. And Dastien, Silver and Elizabeth... You know them. Don't you?" I thought about positive things. They couldn't smell my fear.

"Oh goodness! Leave her, Lacy." The second girl jumped between us.

"I didn't think this," Lacy told her friend, withdrawing her hand away.

I peered down at my arm. No mark! The corners of my lips curled up.

Both glared at Samantha, "You're mean, Sam. Why don't you do it yourself?" They lashed out of the cafeteria.

"Did you hurt her hard? We can be in trouble." Her friend asked Lacy. I could see fear over their faces.

I bent down and started to grab the pieces. I stumbled when a hard bush from behind unbalanced me, hitting the side of my head on the floor. I rubbed my head looking back.

"You pushed me?" I looked at her in complete shock. What was her problem?

She glared at me, her lips thinned, "I'll kill you," she snarled.

"You should talk to Dastien, your promised mate, instead of threatening humans to kill." I blurted.

"Don't take his name, you weak human." She said in anger.

Annoyingly, I turned away from her, "You're the one looking weak." I snapped, getting tired of her possessiveness.

A loud growl rumbled from behind me. I panicked when I spun and saw a light brown wolf attacking me. He shuffled forward passing through me. Another dark brown wolf jumped between us, hauling Samantha away.

My heart was pounding against my ribcage. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to push the fear away. When nothing happened for several minutes. I dared to open my eyes, hoping to see werewolves' fight.

Max was standing holding a mocking expression over his face, "You helped me?" I was shocked.

"Of course, you're my partner," he winked at me.

I shot my brows up at him.

"In class, you know." He shrugged his shoulders after receiving a glare from me.

"Where did she go?" I asked, looking behind him. I bent down to grab the pieces of broken plate. Luckily the place wasn't crowded.

"Are you waiting for her to attack you?" He mocked, his smirk didn't waver for a sec.

I exhaled and got on my feet taking the pieces with me. I dumped them in the trash box, "Do I have to pay for it?" I asked.

"No," He shook his head, "It's a regular thing,"

"Not in my life," I admitted and walked toward the door.

"See you in the class, Emma." He said.

I nodded without looking back at him. I could imagine his full smirk.

It felt so messed up. I didn't know how to get rid of Samantha.

I couldn't see my friends anywhere, not campus, not in class and I didn't know where they were. I let out a heavy breath. I didn't want to go to the last class. But here I was peeping inside.

Max waved at me from the same corner. Ignoring Samantha and her two stupid twin friends, I sauntered toward him.

' I don't want to go and mingle with the class. All thanks to my two brilliant friends. They didn't think it necessary to inform me before leaving the campus. '

"Hi," Max held out his hand for HiFi.

Lazily, I faced the wall where the professor was standing, preparing to start the class. "Hi," I didn't want to sound rude. He helped me this morning.

"You should eat more. It looks, " He clicked his tongue, "you have no power to attend this class."

"You're getting a chance to carry her today," Jerry, his friend, winked at Max and nudged his shoulder.

They giggled and I ignored them. He wouldn't carry me, no matter what.

"You can pair with me if you don't like Max. I know he's boring." Jerry leaned forward. There was a lot of space between us. So it wasn't uncomfortable but a smile cracked over my lazy features.

"Leave her alone, man." Max pushed him away, grabbing him by biceps, "Today we are working on your legs and you're also learning to punch... in case..." He trailed, looking forward.

I don't need to look in that direction. Samantha must be glaring at me. I understood what he was saying. So, I nodded.

"Good luck," Jerry flashed a supportive smile my way.

"Thanks," I looked down at his legs. He must have worked for hours in the gym, "I'm not interested in breaking my bones," I said, taking a step back.

"Come on. Jerry would show you how to do it." He turned to his friend.

"My pleasure," Jerry said and lifted his right foot. He kicked Max and it landed on his sheen, "See, it's simple and easy." Jerry smiled and returned to his partner. They were the same in height and body. The competition between them would be tough.

"Okay, start," Max said, rolling his shoulder back.

I wanted to roll my eyes, but I shook off the feeling and nodded my head again.
