Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 16

Ch. 16 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

DASTIEN

Everything seemed to stop, the sound of her tears dropping on the floor hit me like a whip. My wolf roared inside me, longing to go and curled my arms around her. My wolf was unsettled. Among thousands of people around us, I could smell her confusion, pain. She had seen me only in my wolf form. She shouldn't recognize me. I was running away from her scent. Then I scented her fear. I would keep myself away until she would be safe.

'Mine,'

I balled my hands. 'We have to wait.' I told my wolf.

Taking out my phone, I punched on Jasper's number, "Can you come?" I couldn't see her in tears. It was wrenching my heart, pushing me to the edge, losing my control over my beast.

"I need an hour. I have already messaged Emma. She has no problem. "

"Did you talk to her?" My gaze was following her. She sat on a bench, wiping her cheeks. I ran my hand in my hair. I couldn't control it.

"No,"

"Ok," It slipped out of my mouth a little harshly and I pocketed my phone disconnecting. I hurried down the stairs.

EMMA

I was secretly wondering why I wanted him to talk to me so desperately. I couldn't ignore the twinge of sadness.

I'm craving closeness and passion. Why? It's only for him. I expect everything from him. I'm crazy.

A strong hand stopped holding a small cup. I looked up. I felt a shiver of excitement, "You came back." I jumped on my feet and wrapped my arms around him. I didn't understand anything. He made me feel safe with his burning eyes too.

His hand softly rested on my back. I relaxed more. He cleared his throat. I giggled softly. My cheeks flushed more.

I stepped back. He held the cup out for me. I peeped in, "Hot chocolate?" I grabbed it immediately.

It must be a coincidence. He doesn't know my taste. Does he?

"Thanks," I sipped, "My friend isn't coming for an hour. We can see a movie." I didn't want him to mind anything. I held his hand and pulled it back instantly. I wasn't the only one with widened eyes, "What was that? It felt like an electric wave, running through our bodies." I glanced at his hand. He was looking normal. My heart pounded in anticipation. He wasn't saying anything. Should I give up?

'No!' The voice hit me from somewhere inside me.

"You must have heard about me? " I smiled, ignoring awkwardness.

He nodded his head and sat on the bench. I relaxed. At least, we're reaching somewhere. I sipped curling my both hands around the cup. I didn't want to do anything stupid again.

"Why do your eyes glow like fire?" I asked, lowering my voice, drifting my gaze around.

"It's too noisy here, come." He got on his feet immediately.

I blinked at him. He just talked to me. My smile made my cheeks in pain, "Just let me tell my friend." I lifted my phone.

"No need. I've told Jasper already," he said. He was looking angry about something. Idk.

"How do you know?" My lips parted in shock.

"We're friends," he simply said.

"Of course, you're from the same academy." I nodded.

"Hi," I spun, hearing Jasper, "Dastien," They shook hands.

It was the end of our time. Dastien! I called his name in my mind. His gaze turned to me. I blushed. I lowered my chin to hide the colours on my cheeks.

"See you," Dastien said and strode away.

I made a face, "He didn't say anything to me," I wasn't supposed to say it out loud.

Jasper arched his brows. His smile broke the tension formed by his arched brows.

"You were going to be late," I said, hoping he would forget what he just heard.

"I changed the time," he said, motioning at the elevator.

"We can use the stairs," I said, wishing to see him one more time.

Jasper shook his head, smirking, "You don't know anything about the crush." Amusement played in his eyes.

I huffed and walked toward the elevator, "You're mocking me,"

"I'm not, little human." He chuckled.

"I'm not a little human," I was annoyed for unknown reasons. I wanted to hit him.

"Ain't you?" His arm curled around my shoulder, pulling me at his side.

I bit my lower lip. I needed to see the doctor today. I took a sip from the hot chocolate. He brought it for me. I smiled again.

I'm going to keep the cup. I saw him today. I know his name. I wish I could ask for more details about him.

I tried to shove his thoughts away and refocus on the beautiful view of the woods. That was impossible. He kept running in the background of my mind, his gaze on me.

'So strong! He's insanely beautiful.'

"Are you thinking about your crush?" Jasper chuckled.

I looked at him with sadness, "Is this bad? Am I losing my mind? I..." I closed my mouth. I didn't want him to make fun of me. He could tell this to anyone. Dastien wouldn't talk to me ever then.

"I won't tell anyone." He said.

"Do you have some kind of power to read my mind? I mean, everyone?" I glanced out. The trees were so tall and thick that the sunlight was hardly reaching the road.

Laughing, he said something in a language I couldn't understand, "You look distracted." He added quickly, looking at my confused face.

I shook my head, "I'm not talking about him now." My gaze rested on the rearview mirror. My eyes dilated in shock. I swivelled my neck.

"What are you looking back at?" He adjusted the rearview mirror.

"Why are these beautiful people jumping from one tree to another? How are they even doing that?" My gaze met red eyes.

"F***!" Jasper's words faded in my ears.

Red eyes smirked at me, I smiled back.

"Come for me, Queen." His voice was so sweet, rolling me in his sweetness. Turning in my seat, I reached the door. I opened it, still holding the smile, lost in his gaze, I couldn't deny the pull toward him. My brain was frozen. I seemed to be stuck in one moment. I wanted to obey him. I jumped out of the running car.

I felt the pull from behind me and a strong hold gripped me to his side.

Red-eyed came for me. A hard punch on his jaw threw him away, the door closed with a loud thud. I tried to pull myself out of the spell.

I gasped when water dumped over my head, "What was that?" I squealed.

Jasper's arm was curled around me pinning me to his side, "Don't ever look in their eyes." He growled in a low voice.

"It was like hypnotism. Are they a strange kind of werewolves?" I was scared. I tried to jump out of the running car. I could have broken my bones.

"They are vampires. Don't look in their eyes. Do you understand me, Emma?" His voice was full of command as he twirled me to face him.

My hands began to tremble, "I don't have a death wish. Understood." I nodded my head.

"Stay in the car," He said.

I panicked, "No! Don't leave me. They'd kill you. I have read they drink blood. We should call help," I went for my phone. I was feeling myself in a restless zone.

'If there can be werewolves, there can be vampires too. God knows, ghosts can be real too. Dastien won't be away.'

"They're on their way," Jasper murmured.

The screeching of tires echoed, attracting vampires' attention. They lurched toward the black Porsche. I couldn't see through black glass windows. The door opened or I should say - Dastien kicked the door open. His expression was furious, his eyes glowed like fire.

The man in a long black coat jumped at him. Dastien bared his teeth in a furious way and ran at him. I held my breath, my heart running, goosebumps rippled through my skin. Abruptly, a hand closed over my eyes.

"Jasper, let me see." I held his hand with both of my hands and began to pull down.

"You don't need to see this," he whispered in my ear.

"No, stop him. He can't fight them." I thought about digging my nails in the back of his hand. That'd be rude, "Please,"

His laughter echoed from behind me.

"Jasper," His voice was rough.

He removed his hand. My gaze stopped on his glowing eyes, "Your eyes," I looked deep in them, "A pool of burning fire," I muttered.

"Va dormir, mon amour," He said something in a tender voice. Icouldn't catch the words properly.

I was confused. I couldn't comprehend. My eyelids turned heavy, shutting automatically. I fought against it. His thumb touched my cheek softly as he was touching the petals of roses. Fright, worry and tension seeped out of my body. I closed my eyes, giving up the struggle to keep my eyes open.
