I remembered myself awaking many times with screams, burning in my veins, pain in my entire body. It was unbearable. He was also presented in the room. It felt as if he was taking my pain away. Dastien was always there whenever I woke. I was wondering. What would he have told his girlfriend?
Silver and Elizabeth were always there next to Dastien. Carlos always visited and brought flowers for me which earned him a glare from Dastien. Alessandro visited once with Jasper and Daniel. To my surprise, Drake visited too. It took ten days to get back to my room.
I stared out of the window. I was feeling caged. My friends were attending classes.
The door opened on the left side, "Hi, you can come with us." Silver beamed at me.
"Really?" I squealed happily.
She nodded. Her backpack was slung over her shoulder. I reached for my backpack.
"I'll carry that for you," She said.
I shook my head. I climbed out of my bed and put on flip-flops, "I'm missing the world out of my room." I smiled, finally after many days.
"You need to see Mr Decker after classes," Silver said.
"Yea! But I would still say that I'm fine," I told her. I wasn't feeling pain but a few times, it was unbearable, whenever it attacked my body.
"You won't understand," Silver said, with a shake of her head.
"I don't understand." It was true. I was trying to comprehend, "Only a mate can feel if his/her true soul mate is in pain. Why Dastien? I'm not even from this world. I mean..." I paused. I was hoping she would understand me without completing the sentence.
"He's our King. He's different from others." Silver replied.
"But he comes under rules too," I told.
She shook her head, "Only a few," She replied.
"And the fire in his eyes?" I asked. They always ignored my question, particularly this.
"We're getting late come, "
"I know. I'm not getting any answers. Where's Elizabeth?" I asked.
"Come," She held my wrist and began to tow me.
"You can answer it. It's not something secret,"
Silver spun to me, "She's with her Bruja aunt, working on her powers." Her voice was so low that I had to lean in, "And Dastien belongs to Dark realm,"
I waited for more but she began to tow me again, "Hi, that's not even enough but confusing. I haven't heard about that place," I told her.
She ran her hand in her long white-blonde hair, "Don't mention it to anyone," She felt pretty worried.
"Alright," I sighed, "I like your hair. Mine are not silky." I ran my hand in my hair. They are very long, dark brown with auburn shining, but not silky.
"You don't need to feel bad." Silver chuckled.
"Stop smelling my emotions, Silver." I wandered my gaze around the lawn. She led me
to the cafeteria.
Silver started to laugh, "Um, can't help."
I couldn't help but smile. Things were better here than my imaginations.
Elizabeth was going to meet us in the cafeteria. It didn't make any sense to me. She went to the counter and brought us orange juice.
"Is it possible, she could be both?" I asked in a slow whisper.
Silver finished her juice and nodded at me.
"Wao," Suddenly, I felt a strong need to be more than just a human.
"Hi, remember?"
I turned the hearing voice behind me. Max was holding a tray and smirking down at me. Silver growled at him, "Shoo!" She snapped.
Max looked taken back but his gaze remained on me.
I don't know what to say.
I gave him an apologetic look and turned to look at Silver.
Max walked over to another desk. I could see his friends looking our way.
"What's wrong? You don't like him?" I asked.
"Your guess is right," Silver thinned her lips.
"But, why? He seemed nice and he was talking to us nicely."
"You, baby." She looked at me, "Are you dating someone?"
My eyes widened, "No," All heads turned to me, hearing me squealing.
"Good for them," Silver said, looking away.
I arched my eyebrows, "What's that mean?" I stopped breathing when Dastien walked in with his Alpha gang, Daniel, Carlos, Jasper, Drake was walking with the group too. All looked at them and bowed their heads in full respect.
"What's so important?" Silver asked as they halted a few steps away from us.
Dastien's eyes burnt down me. I stared at him. His eyes flashed amber. My lips parted. They always flash fire, not amber.
"Silver his eyes can flash amber too." I stupidly spoke before I could think.
The air changed from cheerful to tense. I gulped, waiting for something to happen. Dastien pulled the chair out and sat next to me. His lips were pressed into a firm line.
The hall filled with the sound of chairs' screeching and all sat down.
"He's not with you," Silver didn't need to mention Alessandro's name.
"Busy with old Alphas. Mr Wolfe will join his position soon." Daniel said.
I felt Drake's eyes on me. I caught him looking at me, still he didn't look away. He wasn't looking in any bad way.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. All went silent. I spun and looked back. Samantha was glancing down at me with her fake smile. I didn't need the werewolf's senses to understand her.
"Can you sit over there?" She said.
I wasn't going to give up my seat, "You can sit yourself there or, " I glanced at Dastien, " you can ask your boyfriend to sit with you there," I turned, showing my back to her.
"She's not my girlfriend," Dastien said, his chest rumbled with a low growl.
I looked at him with big eyes. Samantha was standing right next to him. Wasn't he being rude? But I wasn't feeling bad for her. I was relieved for an unknown reason.
I flinched when Samantha slammed her hand over the table.
I was still glancing at Dastien. Fire replaced his forest green eyes. In a blink, he was towering over Samantha. His chair fell away from him.
He said something to her. I couldn't hear it over my racing heart.
Samantha strolled away like a poor drowned cat.
"What did he say?" I whispered to Carlos.
He shrugged his shoulders, making an Innocent face. I turned my intense eyes onto him.
"Are you partying without me?" Elizabeth asked, stopping at the side of the table. I didn't see her coming. Her smile was full on her face. All intense gazes turned to her. Her smile faded.
"Dastien said something to his Girl-friend," I glanced at him. His jaw clenched, "And she stomped away."
Placing his hand over the table, he leaned closer to me. His hot breath ghosted my face, making me shiver, " She. Is. Not. My. Girlfriend." He said out loud.
"That's not what everyone says," I retorted. I could see the disapproving look of my friends. I wasn't stepping out of any line. But he should have told me, "She's your promised mate." I murmured, recalling my friend's words. It was hurting. My throat felt tightened. He was still leaning down, blocking my way to escape.
"Promised by my parents. She isn't my true mate." The cut of his jaw was telling that he had endured the shit a lot.
I looked at Silver. Before I could open my mouth, "Alex is my true mate. The promise isn't important when you meet your true mate." Silver said.
That explained a lot. Dastien has found his true mate. I looked up at him, "Are your parents going to force you into this arrange... I mean promised... um, arranged marriage?" I asked.
He smiled, "No," I nodded, "Let's eat." He pulled my untouched tray closer. I didn't stop him.
He has found a true mate. I've read only a little about it. After meeting Silver, I knew everything that I needed to know.
"You shouldn't sit with me. Your mate wouldn't like it. I don't wanna be admitted to the hospital again." I said.
He chuckled, ignoring my concern. All joined him as I'd cracked a joke. They were looking relaxed. I didn't want to spoil it with more questions.
His breath was fanning my face. I could hear the pounding of my heart and the blood in my veins. It was going to hurt me to see him with... she's his mate. She's his true mate. Werewolf can't live without the other part of his soul.
"You find your mate. I'm happy for you," I whispered. There was immense pain in my heart but I cut a large piece of chocolate cake and shoved the spoon in my mouth.
They stopped eating to look at me. I couldn't look up, couldn't raise my eyes to meet their gazes. Nothing made any sense, the situation was super odd, and when his lips touched my temple, I felt calm, pain seemed to vanish.
"Merci, mon amour. Maintenant vous faites parties de ma vie," I couldn't understand but it felt as a lover was talking to his beloved.
It allowed me to relax in his company. His eyes weren't glowing, which means he wasn't angry.
