I couldn't eat much. I wasn't excited, but I was frightened of getting caught. But it felt fun more than anything dangerous.
I glanced back at the door of the academy, "I can't believe it. We made it." I whispered, gleefully.
Silver sighed and leaned her forehead on the steering wheel. She muttered something. I could not understand. Her lips pressed in a thin line.
Her pink small car was luxurious and so stylish and comfortable. I pressed my palm against the soft leather seat, "You're in love," Elizabeth said, grinning.
I didn't need to utter a word, my cheerful expression explained everything. It was the second time I was sitting in the stylish car. I wished to own such a beautiful car one day.
"Yeah, it's beautiful." I smiled.
"You can drive it," Silver said with a smile.
"Um, I don't know how to drive," I muttered hesitantly. They wouldn't mock me but a little part of me was scared.
They exchanged looks, "Then how do you manage?" Elizabeth asked, wondering. Her gaze turned to me.
"Bicycle," I said nervously, biting on my lower lip.
"You have a bicycle. I have heard but I never got one to drive. Will you lend me?" Elizabeth asked, her smile reaching her eyes.
"Me, too." Silver said enthusiastically.
I giggled, "Of course," They weren't egoistic and didn't look down on me.
"So... where are we going?" I asked, leaning back in my seat, getting comfortable.
"There's a powerful fae. He can help me." Elizabeth opened a book and began to mutter something. Her fingers were moving in a rhythm that was foreign to me. But I could guess. She was trying on some spell.
I leaned forward, "What's she doing?" I asked in a whisper.
"Um, she's trying a spell. Our mates wouldn't be able to find us for a few hours." Silver replied. The car was running at full speed.
"Wow! This thing is really cool." I smiled, leaning back. I wiggled my fingers and looked down at them.
'I wish! I could do it, too.'
"Your phone is switched off, right?" Silver asked. Elizabeth was still busy reading and wiggling her fingers.
"I don't have a phone. Alex took it on the first day," I told her.
She met my gaze through the mirror and nodded. I forced all of my other thoughts away and focused out of the window. I drifted my gaze up at the full moon.
"We should choose some other day, maybe tomorrow," Elizabeth said with a sadness in her voice.
"It's okay," Silver rubbed the back of her hand. They looked at the full moon. Their eyes were sad and longing for something.
I didn't try to know. The full moon is important to them. I didn't try to know.
A cold chill ran down my spine when I kept staring at the moon. I no longer felt so sure being out of the academy. I sighed and my breath came out in a white cloud, "It's cold," I muttered, rubbing my hands together. I pulled my hood over my head.
"Sorry, I forgot," Silver turned on the heat.
"Thanks," I smiled. But I couldn't stop as my gaze turned to the moon back. I felt the pull toward it.
'You should tell him,' A part of me spoke.
'And ruin our adventure. It's important for Elizabeth.'
The voice deflated inside me. I relaxed, sighing heavily. We would return before they could find us missing.
It had been hours. The moon was above our head, still gleaming fully, spreading lights everywhere. I blinked. I loved the woods. Silver was sleeping in the passenger seat. Elizabeth was driving.
Something flashed at the corners of my eyes. A strangled cry left my lips.
"What happened?" Elizabeth squealed, clenching the steering wheel.
Silver looked at me with big eyes. She was looking sleepy, her hair messy a little.
"I saw something, I guess red eyes," I said, horrified.
"Don't look out of the window. Just look at us," Silver straightened, looking back at me.
"We're almost there," Elizabeth swallowed. Her eyes glowed amber and she watched out of the windshield. Silver was doing the same. I was feeling useless. They were using their werewolf power to see in the dark.
"There's nothing," Silver announced.
"I didn't find anything dangerous," Elizabeth announced too.
"Are you sure? " Silver asked, turning to me in her seat.
Looking out of the window, I nodded. I saw something like red eyes.
"We're here," Elizabeth said, pulling over the car.
"Let me check first. Then you can come out." Silver told me, opening the door.
I nodded immediately. My teeth began to chatter. I pulled my jacket closer, wrapping my arms around me.
I watched them looking around with their predatory eyes, sniffing the air, "All clear, Em." Elizabeth said.
I opened the door with my shaking hands. I was suddenly feeling cold. It seemed unbearable.
"This way, girls," Elizabeth said.
"Not without us,"
Colours drained from our faces. Silver jaw dropped. Elizabeth gasped in shock.
"She was right. When she said she saw something," Silver breathed out.
"E..." Elizabeth gulped.
I spun in terror. Alessandro and Edward were there, wearing sweatpants and matching black tee-shirts. Their expressions were cold. Definitely, they weren't looking very happy finding us here. I was relieved Dastien wasn't with them.
Edward scolded them in a language I couldn't understand. Silver and Elizabeth looked down like small kids. Sadness was clearly visible on their faces.
'Are they feeling guilty? It's important to Elizabeth. Why can't they understand?'
I couldn't endure the cold. My legs began to shake. I placed my hand over the car to support my weight. I wasn't certain. Was I cold or sick? My eyes felt heavy. It felt a ton of weight over my shoulders. My knees buckled.
"You okay, Emma?" Alessandro held my arms to save me from falling.
My breathing turned foggy, "I don't know," My teeth chattered. His hand was warm against my arm.
"You're so cold," He winched. But recovered from his expression immediately.
"I'll wait in the car. Go ahead," I told them.
"Not happening. This place is bewitched. We have to carry her to Willow's place." Elizabeth said, approaching me with long steps.
Alessandro scooped me up. More than winter, Silver's wrath scared me. I was still carrying the scars of her paw.
He was so warm, "Put me down. Silver will kill me," I blurted. I was feeling like a freezer.
"Are you crazy? I'm sorry." Her gaze turned worried over me. "Elizabeth, lead the path. She'll die with this cold." Silver touched my arm and yanked her hand away instantly, "You're too cold."
I closed my eyes, leaning closer. Dastien's angry face flashed in my mind. He spun looking directly at me. It felt like he was looking at me in reality. It wasn't just my imagination.
I forced my eyes to open. Tears rolled down. Alessandro' dark grey gaze met mine, questioning. My emotions were a hot mess... I was missing him. It must have been a few hours away from the academy. He stayed missing from the academy for days. It didn't affect this much then, why now?
I could hear my friends whisper-yelled.
I felt his warm arm skipping away from me. I saw light above my head. Then something warm covered my body. My teeth were crushing together.
"Her human side got affected with the spell. Her wolf is too weak to protect her, " I heard.
'It's a strange voice. Who's he?'
A pause and the silence rang in my ears. I forced my eyes open. The sight was blurry. 'I can't see,' I tried to speak but nothing, I couldn't speak.
"Who put the spell?" Edward, I heard him growl.
"It keeps the people away from more dangerous things." He said.
"We have to save her first," Silver, I heard her.
I blinked tears. I couldn't see the lights above my head clearly. A blurred figure hovered over my face. I got an uncomfortable feeling as a stranger hovered around me. Only, I was feeling and hearing.
"Go to sleep, child." He said more words but I couldn't hear. Darkness started creeping in. My eyes closed against my will, draping me in.
