Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 14

Ch. 14 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

The sun peeped through the curtains. I pulled the pillow over my face. I managed through the yoga class, but Martial arts, it's frightening me. I didn't know the name of the professor. I was praying for him not to attend the class today, too.

Childish! But I want it to work.

I love my job, Sisily was a good student and learned things easily.

I throw the sheet off. I quickly shower. I didn't think Silver would be my friend anymore. She got her long gone friend. I should be happy, but the thought was disturbing me, depressing me. She was my only friend. I wasn't good at making friends.

I dug through my closet, finding the right clothes. My brain was still mulling over him, the black wolf, I'm dreaming of him too, I'm not surprised, I think about him most of my day. But I forced it toward Silver - Will she be waiting or having breakfast with her BFF. I wasn't a jealous person. I deflated, she was my only friend.

Before grabbing my backpack, I made my bed. To understand a shifter's life completely, I was reading extra books too. I should start from the first semester. But it wasn't. I took a deep breath, hoping to see Silver there. I was stupid, she tried to kill me.

The air left my body, a little hope left along with it, I stepped out of the room.

"Good morning, Emma." My lips twisted up forming a giant smile. To my astonishment, Silver wasn't alone. Elizabeth was drinking from her cup.

"Hi," I replied.

Elizabeth waved at me and shoved the second cup in my hand, "It will help with the pain." She said, looking at my chest.

"Thank you," I was expecting a coffee or a magical drink. But it was light green water, "Is it green tea?" I sniffed it. I could smell honey, cinnamon, black pepper and a lot of herbs I didn't recognize.

"No, remedy from the healer." Silver grabbed my backpack again. No matter how hard I tried to protest.

"Healer, yeah. I read about them in the first chapter." I said, enthusiastically.

Elizabeth and Silver looked at me with a soft smile. We went down for breakfast together. This time we used the stairs and I liked them better than the elevator.

My heart sped up for an unknown reason. I darted my gaze around. I stood frozen in place, someone darted out of the thick wood path where I used to walk at night alone. My heart began to beat, thump! Thump! Thump! His strong, constructed back was facing me. The V-shaped of his body was tempting. I couldn't see his face. He took a running leap at the rope wall, gaining half of it by that alone. Hand over hand, he lifted his body like it was easy. He leapt off the top of the wall and stood there for a second, giving everyone the view of his hot body, long muscular legs. He braced himself for a jump. I was watching him holding his breath. He leapt forward and shifted midair, and landed as a beautiful black wolf. Before I could catch my breath, he sprinted back into the woods.

"It's... He!." I hugged him. He looked insanely gorgeous from behind, his dark silky hair shining from far.

I spun when I couldn't see him. I caught the gaze of Silver. A smile spread across her face, "You still don't trust me," She whispered and gestured at the door. I nodded and started to walk.

I was seriously messed up where the black wolf's subject was concerned. I needed to know his name, needed to see him. Gosh! Looking up at the sky I groaned inwardly.

Helplessly, I trudged to the cafeteria. But my appetite died.

"You're not telling me his name?" I asked her, giving her a side glance.

"No, you know the condition." Silver smirked.

I exhaled angrily. I couldn't let my anger control me. I shifted my attention at Cafeteria, to the students around me. I had just seen him. I'd see his face too. Soon!

He seemed to be an obsession. I did not want to adopt. My heart seemed to insist on doing it against my mind. I couldn't take the sight of him out of my mind. He knew some kind of spell. How could I think about only him, when I haven't seen him.

A lazy smile spread across my face. See! How crazy I am about him.

I shook my head, dread crawling my skin. That was f***** death wish. I wasn't expecting to survive again.

"You can pair with me," Elizabeth smiled at me.

"Emma, I'm not going to hurt you." Silver thinned her lips and pulled a tank top over her head.

I was shy about changing in front of them. There was a changing room but I didn't need to use them as I was already wearing comfortable clothes, lagging and a tank top. We're getting ready for our martial arts class after our continued three classes, maths, chemistry and Latin. We did not sit in the same class.

"I know," I said.

Silver stopped tugging her top down and raised her eyebrows at me.

I grinned, "You won't upset your mate." I winked at her turning to the door.

Elizabeth gasped, "Careful, Emma. They're mated." She said,

I stopped in my tracks, my smile faded, "Don't they trust each other when they claim to love?" I really needed to know. I needed to understand her action that made me lay on the hospital bed for f****** ten days. Don't forget - unconscious!

"More than my life," Silver said.

"I don't have a brother. I would always look at him with my sister's eyes. If it satisfies your fear." I trudged in the gym hall.

"Em," I ignored them.

The back wall was made of mirrors and a lot of equipment was pushed to one side of the gym. I could see bright dark red mats on the glassy white marble floor. Students looked at me with a scowl. I scowled back. There was no chance, I was going to pass through them.

Their gazes turned away from me. Of course, Silver must be standing behind me, "I don't feel like attending. See you later," I said and slipped out of the door. I heard them but I didn't stop. They could come and chuck me back into the class. That was the last thing in my mind for me. There were worse things too.

I returned to my room.

'Silver wants me to trust her. Does she trust me? The answer hurts. She's my only friend here. I grabbed the book and began to read. I would mark what I couldn't understand. I could ask Jasper and Daniel to help me with my studies. I don't think I can ask them to help me. It was going to stay in my mind.'

I was drooling over the pillow when I woke up, "Gosh! I was dreaming about him again." We were running in the woods and he was chasing me. My laughter was echoing around with the chirping of the birds. I blushed. Would that! I could see him shifting too.

I was hugging the book. I glanced at my wrist, "S***!" I shot up on my feet in alarm and wiped the back of my hand over my lips. I hurried to the washroom, washed my face and hands.

I headed to the door, shoving the card key in my pocket.

"Hi, I thought..."

"Yeah! Got late," I shouted, waving my hand at Elizabeth. I was expecting her to hang out with Silver. But she was nowhere to see.

I scurried out of the building. I was careful not to bump with anyone. I was still in the healing process. Two or three days more, I'd be totally fine. At least, I hoped so.

I was breathing heavily when I reached out of Mr Donovan Wolfe's residence. I rapped on the door, before unlocking the door. As expected, Sisily was waiting for me sitting on the couch, her small arms were folded over her chest. When our gazes met, she smiled fully. It lasted only for a few seconds before she looked away from me, she was looking upset,

I walked in, "Hi, Sisily, sorry I got late." I sat on the couch with her. But she slipped away, "Don't you wanna know. Why did I get late?" I asked, lowering my head.

She squinted at me. I knew she was fighting the smile, "Why?" She squeaked.

"I was reading this large book," I motioned with my hands.

Her eyes turned huge, "Really, Grandpa has many books too. I have books too. But I don't have a big one," Her sweet voice was full of astonishment.

"Hm," I nodded my head

"You'll get one. For this, you have to study." I said and she nodded, "Would you like to learn to paint today?"

Her eyes lit up, a smile appeared on her face and she nodded her head again enthusiastically, "Yes!Yes!" she began to clap her tiny hands.

I let out a breath of relief.

Feeling weird and unnecessary tired, I was hoping that food would help me. I chewed on my lower lip as I walked into the cafeteria. I never came here alone. I looked around for them. But I left the idea immediately.

Why will they wait for me? Stop daydreaming!

A tap on my shoulder made me look back.

"Hi, how did it go?" Silver asked. I was waiting for her to forget the friendship concept. Perhaps, she was serious. I wanted her friendship too.

"I got late,'' I sighed, turning to grab plates for us. I grabbed them from the table. They held it as I held my hand gripping them for them.

" Are you in trouble?" Elizabeth asked, her eyes were dilated.

"No," I shook my head.

"You look exhausted." Silver said, touching my skin softly under my eyes.

"Do I have dark circles?" I didn't get time to see my reflection.

"No, but they're forming. You need a good sleep." She held my elbow, tugging me forward.

Elizabeth began to pile food in our trays.

I could sleep right now, right here on the floor. I was hungry, too.

I sat on the single bed in silence. What would he be looking like? My smile appeared unannounced when I thought about him running toward the woods. He shifted mid-air. That was super amazing. When it was bedtime, I was alone, every second of my life, he was the only thing I could think of.

' I'm all in and I have not seen the guy yet. What's wrong with me? '

"Are you thinking about him?" I squealed, hearing a voice in my room and jumped on my feet, scattering the books around.

"Where did you come from?" I breathed.

She leaned against the door. She was draped in a tight white top and blue skirt, her feet were bare.

"Like this," Elizabeth opened the door from the right side. Her grinning face emerged behind the door, she was also dressed like Silver.

I don't even know there are doors. I didn't pay any attention to my room, just was happy to find a bed, desk and single couch.

Silver walked over to my desk and tapped her finger on the desk.

"Are you going to choose cheerleaders?" I asked them. My heart was still running.

Silver took a bite of her chocolate and chuckled at me.

"No, we're watching a movie. This is our dress code," Elizabeth shoved the dress in my hand.

I blinked at her, "What's wrong with them?" I tugged on my top.

" Nothing wrong," Silver trotted toward me, "You're our friend, our sister. Now, make it quick," She slapped on my bun, making me yelp and both giggled.

I rubbed my hand, "Cruel," I hugged the dress and sauntered over to the washroom door, "Really?" I asked, holding my hand up.

"Change, Emma." Silver smirked. Elizabeth followed her repeating her words.

I frowned and slammed the door, "One poor girl stuck with two strong werewolves." I said out loud.

They giggled. My lips twisted up.

"We're going to see a movie and eat popcorn. Don't be a cry baby,"

Another sigh escaped my lips, "Ok," Smiling.
