Chapter 17

Ch. 17 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

The intensity in his eyes made me shiver. He was leaning against the tree trunk. Dread and attraction coursed through me. He made me feel things I hadn't experienced before.

His gaze turned to Alessandro. Jasper, Daniel and Carlos were also presented in the room. It felt as if they were talking with their eyes and replying with slight nods.

"Guys," I was tense. I was still in the passenger seat. I didn't remember what happened with vampires. No one was harmed and it was a big relief.

Their gazes turned to me. Dastien took a step closer. I could smell his natural aroma in the air.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

I nodded immediately, blushing, "I nodded off." The jumping vampire flashed in my mind, "Oh Ghosh! Vampires!"

"The situation is under control," Alessandro said.

I nodded and flicked my eyes between them, "What's going on?"

"You're skipping your martial arts class," Carlos said, his brows pulled together a bit.

"I'm not interested in breaking my bones. I've experienced it once. That was enough." I said with a twist at the corners of my lips.

"You are not skipping it," Dastien said. He left me in the mall alone. Though he came back, he left first.

I raised my brows, "I don't know you." I snorted and looked away.

It doesn't seem that I don't know him. He doesn't need to know.

"You wanna talk to me a few hours ago."

From the corners of my eyes, I saw his lips curling up.

"And you don't want to talk to me." I retorted. His scent was doing strange things to me, pulling me toward him. I clenched my hands to control my feelings. I had already begged him to talk to me in the mall. I couldn't act brainlessly.

Another breath in, his scent lingered through my body, causing me to look at him, "What are you doing to me?" Why was the attraction so strong that I forgot everything but him, "Do you know some kind of spell?"

I can't explain the irresistible pull I feel toward him. It's not me. I'm behaving differently around him. Like a crazy girl, blindly in love with him.

"We should head back." Alessandro pressed his lips tight in a line, As he was holding himself back from saying something.

I stared at them for a long moment. They were quiet, very quiet. Vampires attacked us. They should discuss things, plan something against them, but their silence was so weird.

"What are we going to do now?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"You're attending your classes and extra classes for your training, every day, early morning," Dastien said.

"Not happening. You're not the headmaster. I have a job. I need to look fresh to face an Innocent child. My dark circles will scare her." I looked at Alessandro with hope. He wouldn't allow him to make decisions on his behalf.

He shook his head, breaking all my hopes.

"What! No! No!" I pushed myself out of the passenger seat. Ignoring that Dastien blocked my path, "You're the headmaster. The headmaster. He can't make decisions on behalf of you." I said, feeling a little annoyed.

"He can do anything," Daniel said. His gaze was somewhere else.

I deflated back in the passenger seat when he didn't budge, "Are you threatening me?" I stared at Daniel, "You're not the headmaster."

Daniel shook his head, his gaze still fixed in the distance. I looked in the direction. There was nothing.

"I'm not training. Everyone is stronger than me. No use," I stared at him without flinching.

He smiled. My body sparked, lips parted, "Tomorrow morning, at four o'clock. I'm knocking at your door." He twirled and stalked toward his black Porsche, gracefully.

"He's kidding," I muttered.

Jasper closed the door of my side, "He isn't," He paced around the car. There was grace in their every move.

Dastien, Alessandro, Jasper, Carlos and Daniel are different and unique in everything like kings. Particularly, Dastien. I need to stop acting weird around him. It isn't in my hands but I have to try. I can stick around him like a puppy.

I strutted toward my room after a silent drive back to campus. garnering a strange look from Jasper.

"You need to eat," He said with a frown.

I shook my head, "I'm human. Don't forget," I murmured and quickened my pace to my room. Werewolves ate a lot.

Curling under the sheet, I closed my eyes. I wouldn't have believed vampires existed if I hadn't seen them today. But I couldn't contemplate. How could I nod off when dead people were attacking us?

I don't wanna learn to fight. Can't he go with my choice?

I drifted off thinking over him. My smile was permanent on my face.

A loud knock on the door broke my sleep. I threw the pillow over my ears to block the noise. The tap got louder. I pushed myself up in frustration.

Half-opened eyes, I walked toward the door, "Who's that?" I asked. Silver wasn't on the campus and Elizabeth was gone visiting her family.

"Open the door. I won't hesitate to break it," Daniel's rough voice came from the other side of the door.

My eyes snapped at the door, "No," My heart began to thud.

"Emma," His voice was soft but stronger.

I opened the door with shaking hands and looked at him sadly, hoping he would show some sympathy. "It's the weekend," I batted my lashes.

"Put on your flip flop," He folded his arms over his broad chest, making himself hulk.

"I'll go if you tell me. Why do his eyes glow like fire?" I asked, closing my eyes but my ears were on alarm. I wanted to know. It was a rare thing in the werewolves world, too.

"It's best for everyone that merely his eyes glow fire, not body." His statement made my eyes snap open. It seemed ominous and horrible. Daniel glanced away from me.

"What's that mean?" I stared at him.

"Follow me," Daniel said, turning away from me.

He didn't move an inch and glanced at me with a soft smile over her face.

I grabbed the hoodie and ran after him. I looked at him to answer me. I got nothing but a deep scowl. I frowned and began to walk behind him. Dastien was at the end of the stairs.

How could he look insanely handsome all the time?

'I should ask Dastien myself. I should try."

I yawned. The air was chilled around us, the lawn was looking dark green under the moonlight. It was four o'clock but the moon was at the top of my head.

Daniel pulled open the door of the gym and held it for me. I walked through it. My gaze landed on Dastien. He was wearing a gym tank t-shirt and sweatpants.

He abandoned his barbell and switched to the chin-up bar. His face wasn't giving any expression of pain or anything. His eyes were already on me. I didn't look at my reflection. I must be looking like a drowning cat, dishevelled hair, I wasn't expecting him, doing the workout. He pulled his heavy body several feet off the floor with his massive biceps. He didn't break his gaze.

I yawned again this time in a pretending way. I was feeling tired. I slept late or woke early. I broke my gaze. I was into him fully. I wasn't looking at him, but he was hovering over my brain. My eyes met Daniel, Carlos and Jasper. I waved my hand at them in laxity. They greeted me with their smiles.

I walked over to the bench. I sat on it. I rested my cheek against the glass window and closed my eyes.

"Emma," My eyes opened and a smile stretched over my face. His voice always touched the core of my heart.

I looked up at him, "Yes," I wasn't bothered to wash my face. Now, I was regretting it, seeing such a handsome, well-built body.

"Twenty rounds of this building," He said, circling his index finger in the air.

"You're kidding me. I'm not a werewolf."

"Stop making excuses every time. You're healthy and can do this easily." He faced away from the glass wall, "Daniel will accompany you." He said.

"No, he's boring." I looked away as I knew his scowl would be directed at me.

"You're not here to entertain yourself." Daniel huffed.

"I'll die just running and running. Why don't you eat me alive?" I extended my left hand while lifting in the air at him.

Dastien brows were drawn together as he looked down at me. I closed my eyes. He was a werewolf. He could do that.

I like him. He won't do that. My likeness has nothing to do with his likeness.

I tried to hear but nothing was moving around me. I cracked one eye open. He wasn't there anymore. I blinked in confusion and shrugged my shoulders along with the twist at the corner of my lips.

I yelped when I saw him in a push-up position. Both of his hands were resting at the sides of me on the beach, boxing me. His gaze was levelled to me. He stared directly in my eyes. His one knee was pushed ahead in an attacking mode.

My heart thudded so hard, I was afraid they could hear me from the corners of the hall too. Silents hung over my head like a sword. I focused on my breathing, trying to tear my eyes away from his insanely gorgeous face. His face was morphed, his eyes filled with flames.

The slightest lip twitch, I exhaled the air I was holding in my lungs, "Carlos will go with you," he muttered.

I couldn't look away from his eyes, they were burning fire. I love his green eyes but it is rare. So beautiful and dangerous at the same time.

"Why is there burning fire in your eyes instead of forest green eyeballs?" I asked.

He shook his head, pushing himself away from me. He swiped his gaze on me. After a blink, his eyes were normal. Quickly, he swiped his gaze on me, "There," He gestured at the white shoes. They weren't there before.

"You can't force me," I got on my feet, "I'm going to sleep in my room."

He can't order me when he doesn't wanna tell me anything.

He shot me an odd stare, "You can't scare me. Good night," I stomped toward the room.

"Learn to fight. I'll answer your one question." He said, "Indeed, I don't need to tell. You'll learn it yourself,"

I halted and looked at him in disbelief, "One question! Just one question! How cruel you're!"

With unbelievable speed, he was in front of me, "You're asking a big thing, girl."

Girl! Ouch! Okay, it hurts.

I forced a smile but it did not work. I fisted my hand to punch on his shoulder.

"Hello, everyone." Alessandro walked in the gym hall, resting the white towel over his shoulder.

"I'm not dealing with you," Dastien whispered.

His gaze examined my face. He must be seeing hurt. Because that was what I was feeling. I spun and stepped away from him.

"After twenty rounds, breakfast... with me." He said.

I blushed, "And?' I didn't dare to look at him.

" We'll see after breakfast," He said, turning to weight lifting.

I hurried ahead and grabbed the shoes. I sat on the bench and put them on immediately, "Ready," I looked at Carlos.

Carlos smiled, shaking his head as he jogged out of the hall. I followed him. I stole a look at him. His back was on me. Would that! I could see him smiling too.

I was breathing heavier. Carlos was a strict teacher. He didn't allow me to rest, to stop for a second, I was just running. The sky wasn't dark anymore.

"Daniel was the best option. I guess," I said, sitting on the steps, "If someone hasn't told you. Let me do it. You're cruel," I said, breathing deeply.

"Don't talk. Concentrate on your breathing." Daniel said, coming from behind. He sat on the stairs next to me.

I looked at him, "You know this," I pointed my finger at Carlos.

Both smirked, exchanging looks. Carlos advanced his water bottle at me. I grabbed it immediately and began to drink like a thirsty crow. I tasted something sweet.

"What's this?" I asked with a wrinkled forehead.

"Herbs with honey," Daniel got up.

"You don't wanna be late for breakfast," Carlos chuckled, taking the bottle from me.

"It's too early," I said, looking up at the sky. The sun was going to rise from the horizon.

"After thirty minutes," Daniel said, he gained his tough expression again. I furrowed my brows, "His breakfast time," he said.

"What!" I shot on my feet and ran toward the dormitory. I was breathing hard while running. I was drained. I didn't care.

I swiped the card and opened my door. I slammed it behind me. I took a quick shower with hot water to get rid of the sweat and its smell.

After shuffling my dresses, I picked a white skirt with a red top, reminding me of his burning eyeballs. I brushed my hair and applied pink lipstick and mascara. I grabbed my card key and rushed to the door.

Locking the door, I advanced toward the stairs, but stopped, "I don't know where I'm supposed to meet him." I hurried down the stairs, running toward the cafeteria. It was empty. I ran to the gym hall. The hall was empty, too. I sat on the floor. I returned to the cafeteria, waited for him until I could.

My eyes were burning as tears rimmed them. I headed back to my room when I was certain he wouldn't come. He tricked me. They must be making fun of me.

I stayed in the room for the rest of the day. I didn't go out to eat. I was hoping Silver and Elizabeth would come soon. But I had no guts to tell them.

'How could I think of dating a king? I'm just a stupid human in his eyes. A thing to laugh at, who has a crush on him. I love my old life. Where I had no time for a stupid teenage crush.'
