Chapter 46

Ch. 46 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

The sight out the window wasn't the centre of my thoughts. I was glad for my mother but it was so sudden for me. I always dreamt of her smiling, cooking for us, going out on weekends, and building our happy castle. I wasn't picturing a fourth person in our life.

"You haven't said a single word to Charles," Silver said, shifting the gear.

I thought I would ignore the answer. I couldn't escape all the time. The truth will be better, "I don't know what to say to him." I muttered.

"He's a nice man. My family knew him before my birth." She said.

"Do you have siblings?" I asked.

"Em!" She stared at me.

"I'll try to talk to him." I shrugged my shoulders. I don't know how to deal with her questions and advice.

She smiled at me, "Yes, elder brother and he'll be the Alpha." Her gaze filled with pride.

"I don't know anything about my brother. Do you think mom would ever tell us about that man?"

"You mean," I cut her off.

"He does not deserve to be addressed in that name," I felt aggravation, "He must be Alpha or waiting to be Alpha."

"If you know his name. It would be easy to find your brother." She suggested.

"Mom isn't going to tell," I said.

" You haven't even asked her,"

"I don't wanna hurt her or don't want her to consider...." I let out a sigh, "I haven't seen her so happy. Indeed ever! Mostly I had seen her shouting near the window. She was always scared a monster would come and take us away. Now I understand who the monster is." I made fists of my hands.

"Let's not talk about it. I want you to enjoy." My gaze averted out of the window. I was certain I couldn't. She didn't need to know.

Silver shopped everything she liked at first sight. I stayed with her like a robot. I really don't know what my life has stored for me. After hours of shopping and lunch at the restaurant, we headed back to Charles' home.

"Did he contact Alessandro?" I asked her.

"No, we are expecting him to contact you first." She slowed the car.

I stared at his mansion. I took a lot of time to speak up. I didn't want to speak, hear anyone, do nothing, just wanted to stare out of the window at the moving sight.

My eyebrows crushed together as I saw Jasper with Charles in the lawn, "Is everything okay?" I asked her.

Silver pulled the car over, "Charles is his uncle."

"He's going to be my cousin?" I asked, snapping my gaze at her.

"He is," Silver nodded with her adorable smile.

Ava tapped on the window. I rolled it down. The nagging part of me wanted to flee and find him in every corner of the world. The nagging but a huge part of me wanted him around me. Everything seemed dull without him. Ava looked at me bleakly as she didn't need to ask but look at me to know my feelings.

I scowled at her, "What?" My sadness knew no word but the irritation I felt wrath that couldn't be rein. I didn't want sympathy but them to stay with me. She could have told me everything she chose not to.

"No, um..." Ava looked confused, "I was expecting a happy, smiling face," She said after my continued stare at her.

"Don't say anything if you don't know anything," I warned her. I do want her to go there and challenge me. I may have zero chances to win but I have support from SevenA.

"I care for you, Emma," She said.

"Yeah, thanks, " I jumped out of the car.

She reached tentatively for my arm to halt me. Silver whispered something in a foreign language.

Ava nodded her head and opened the back door to grab the bags with a sign.

"What the heck! When did you learn that language?" I stared at Ava.

"It's Latin, Em. You should try to learn how to speak it instead of learning the whole book without understanding."

My thoughts were jumbled and made no sense, "You can talk in English,"

"Emma, how was your day?" Charles beamed at me as I was a little sad girl.

Whatever was happening in my life wasn't his fault, "Good. Thanks, Charles," I hurried inside the house, ignoring my mother who made her way toward us. She must be cooking in the kitchen as her apron was stained.

Her gaze flickered at me. I smiled at her showing everything was fine.

"Emma, I'm cooking for our family." Her eagerness was telling me she wanted me to join them.

Our family! My head jerked at her. She means us and Charles.

"Of course, mom. Let me know." I agreed without her invitation.

"Oh! Good! Good!" She clapped her hands together and strutted back to the kitchen.

"That was a good decision," Silver smiled at me, "I have to go now, "

"No," I squealed. I panicked at the thought of being alone with them. I don't even know my mother. I haven't seen this side of her.

"Elizabeth needs my help? " She said. I know she would have stayed if she could.

I didn't need more words. I lifted my arms to embrace her, "Thank you so much." I felt tears running down my cheeks.

"That's what friends do. We'll find a way to contact him. " She assured me like everyone.

I wiped my cheeks immediately and nodded pulling back. At least my friends hear me but my family... They aren't the same.

She twirled to the door. Tears stung in my eyes. They were helping me. I never thought to have friends. I was feeling blessed. I couldn't shift but I was proud to be one of them. Though, the pain still frightened me. Now I understood the strong part inside me that wanted Dastien near me, wanted to claim him. It was my wolf. Staying away from my mate felt like tantamount to death.

Pivoting on my heels, I raced toward my room. I didn't want to attend dinner. I wasn't interested in knowing Charles and living in his luxurious house. Sometimes, we had to do things for our families.

I wanted to sprint out, but I didn't want to hurt my mother. I couldn't do anything about my - not shifting. I wasn't powerful like them all.

I closed the door behind me and stared at the heaps of the books. I wasn't strong and fast. But I could sharpen my mind. I couldn't find any explicable reason for my being mute. But I wouldn't give up easily. There must be some reasons or I had to live with the fact. I didn't want to spend my life like my mother.

'Mate'

My body jerked as I heard it clearly in my head. I closed my eyes. Incredulously, it couldn't be my inner voice. It was Dastien'. I tried to concentrate. Tears of frustration welled out. I opened my eyes. I drifted my eyes around in disbelief.

"Please, talk to me. I don't know your way," I began to sob.

I covered my mouth with my hand to muffle the noises. Mom could hear me. The door flung open. Footsteps rang.

Her eyes bugged in concern as they landed on me. "Emersyn!" Mom hugged me, coming to my side.

I curled my arms around her without lifting my head, "I'm hearing his voice. But I don't know anything. I don't know how to communicate with him. Nothing is helping me, not even the space inside me." I sobbed, my words cracked.

"That's it. I can help you, sweetie. The empty space. That's your she-wolf. You have to communicate with her. She would help you to talk to your mate," Mom said.

I pulled back and stared at her in disbelief, "How? Could it be?" Emotions were still spilling from my voice. But it wasn't feeling the particular space inside me after he left me.

"We can teach you," Charles said. I blinked the remaining tears looking up at him. He gazed at my mother, "We can start your training in the morning." he said.

"What training?" I frowned. I wanted to run the opposite side, "I'm not fighting or exercising." I said bluntly.

"It's far different from that. We can start it after dinner or in the morning." Mom suggested, running her fingers on my cheeks, swiping the tears.

"After dinner," I said without thinking. I needed to know where he was. I had already missed the Alphas meeting. I didn't want to go anywhere but stayed in my room.
