Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 53

Ch. 53 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

I was running in the mud of the dark woods. Wolves were running as a pack. An order snarled by a powerful personality reached my ears. I began my pace again, away from them. They were chasing me.

My own whimper and squeal reached my ears. I woke up with a jolt. Two strong hands held me by my shoulders and shook me to grab my attention.

My forehead was covered with sweat. My eyes turned out of the window. The dawn seemed to have passed hours ago.

Footsteps shuffled in the room. Jack and Cassidy strode in. I pushed myself in a sitting position, "What happened?" Jasper asked, still holding my shoulders.

"I should ask this to you too. Did I get late?" I looked around for the clock.

"You were screaming. I panicked." Vanessa's dreadful voice reached my ears.

"It was a nightmare. Nothing serious." I told them. I was already feeling awkward waking up in their house, in a stranger's bed. I didn't know the owner of the room. I darted my eyes around to avoid their pitiful gazes at me. Everything was white in this room. The wall to the left side of the bed was covered with black and white and colourful pictures of a sweet family.

"Charles and our family." Jack said, striding in. His pace was quiet.

"Was it your room?" I asked, relaxing at the change of the topic.

"Charles' room." Jack said, his eyes were resting on the big picture hanging in the middle. 'A perfect family' was written down with a red sketch.

Jasper got up and Cassidy replaced him. Her hands caressed my cheeks, ''Do you wanna talk, dear?" She asked.

I shook my head, "No," I said softly.

"Alright, you can talk to me at any time." She smiled.

"I know," I didn't know how to take so much affection.

"Your friends must be waiting for you. Breakfast is ready." Cassidy said.

I smiled, "Thanks," I gave her a quick hug. I had learned it from Elizabeth, "I'll be in the hall soon." I jumped on my feet. I couldn't have slept more than four hours.

"Sure," She got to her feet and walked over to the door with her husband, "Your clothes are in the cupboard." She said as I rushed toward the washroom to escape their questions and questioning gazes.

"Yea, thanks, Aunt." I closed the door behind me and rested my face against the door. My heart was running in my ribcage.

I avoided most of the talk at the dining table. They provided me with the silence I demanded. Though Vanessa didn't sit quietly for a second. I actually enjoyed her company. She made me laugh. Not like my actual sister, who forgot everything after getting all the luxury of life.

Jasper pulled over the car. I reached for the door, "Em," His gaze was worried over me. I turned to him but didn't say a word, "Face your problems and things that hurt you. But remember one thing, you're not alone in this." He said, inspiring me to be strong.

"I know, Jas." I opened the door, "I'll join you later. I need to go somewhere." I told him.

"I'll inform your friends,"

I gave him a quick hug, "Thank you, for understanding me. "

He chuckled and patted my back.

Getting out of the car, I slammed the door and didn't look back as I made my way toward the SevenA.

I stared at the cobblestone path as I made my path to his villa, "Emma," I shut my eyes tightly. I wanted to be alone.

"I wanna stay alone, Max," I said without looking at his way.

He was already in front of me, blocking my path, "I understand. I know you're..." I cut him off.

"Max" I was on the verge of pulling my hair in exaggeration.

He sighed, drifting his gaze over my face, "We're here if you need anything." He said.

"I know," I nodded. I was feeling like a bad person. I was feeling like a burden on them, "I'll join you at lunch." I said.

"Alright," He smiled, "Grace and I'll wait for you." He said walking away from me.

I inhaled. At least, I was able to bring a smile to his face. I need to spend some time alone to face everything.

I began my pace to his home. My breath left my body and my eyes watered as I found the door unlocked. I pushed it. I desperately wanted him sitting on the couch.

My heart settled into a harmonious pattern being around the familiar atmosphere. The corners of my lips twisted up. My gaze stopped on the couch. We sat there together. My smile broadened but the flood of tears streamed down my cheeks. I tried to keep good memories, not the moment when he left without informing me. He didn't know the basic rules of Love. He just couldn't leave me.

I glanced up at the ceiling. Everything came to the fore for him. He could see his home where he was born perhaps, we didn't talk about it. We started to get to know each other, then he left. I was hoping for peace but it put me into turmoil. Was it so easy for him to leave?

Everything was certainly drawing my attention to him and bringing more tears and pain to me.

I need to find the book, the portals that would lead me to other realms, Dark Realm.

His blank looks never expressed anything but his gaze always held unspoken love for me. I am having a restless time.

Where have you hidden the book, Dastien?

I sat on the couch and stared at the hearth. There was no fire and no warmth. It was cold. Right now, I didn't care a whit for it. I was wondering what cost him to stay away from us.

I heard the creaking of the door. I lifted my head from the arm of the couch and looked up at Silver and Elizabeth. They flashed their perfect smiles my way.

I lifted my head and attempted a smile. I clasped my hands in my lap and stared at them to start.

"It's lunchtime," Elizabeth said.

"Max and Grace are also waiting for you." Silver hedged.

I nodded and got on my feet. I walked over to them. They didn't budge, "What's it?" I asked.

"You ok?" Silver asked.

I nodded, "Just wanted to be alone. I'm feeling better now." I smiled. It wasn't forced or attempted.

They relaxed and began to move, taking me between them, "You can stay with us if you don't wanna go home." Elizabeth said.

"Thanks," I nodded.

We walked silently out of his villa. My smile remained for a few seconds. Now it felt like I couldn't smile ever. I felt Elizabeth's hand on my shoulder.

"Elizabeth!" I warned her.

"She's helping," Silver said.

"She's draining her powers." I retorted, not liking it at all.

"Anything for family and friends," Elizabeth smiled.

I turned to her, "I really love you both and appreciate it. Perhaps I need time, more than hours and days."

"We can give you if you don't block us like this," Silver gestured back with her thumb at Villa.

I sighed heavily and turned to the cobblestone path, "I'm missing him. Without him, it seemed like the end of everything."

"We'll find a way to reach the portal. I have talked to my aunt Hannah. She has promised to help us." Elizabeth said.

I nodded, pacing ahead, keeping my gaze down. A breeze brushed through my skin, bringing the scent of grass and flowers in the air.

I looked back at them, "Come on," I sauntered to the cafeteria.

They quickened their steps at me.
