Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 47

Ch. 47 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

'Over time you'll come to know everything.'

I closed the book reading the last line of the chapter. I couldn't wait. I would meet my inner wolf. It seemed impossible but I felt excited at the same time.

I slipped my feet in the slippers, I slowly paced out of the room, it was warm inside, they must be feeling uncomfortable because of me. I felt cold. So I recommended they turn off the heat of the house except for my room. I curled my arms tightly around my chest.

Sometimes, I thought about the man my mother met years ago and he left her to suffer. It infuriated me, only added more hate to him. I shook my head. There were more important things than him.

I walked down the stairs. My eyes widened when I saw Jasper in the living room sitting with Charles and one teenage boy, I did not know him. He pulled his black hood closed covering his forehead which was already covered with thick dark hair, he looked at me with a frown.

Whoever he is.... he doesn't like me.

I averted my gaze away from him, "Hi, Jasper." I opened my mouth but he was on his feet and took me in an embrace.

"Charles is going to ask your mother for the wedding. You're going to be my cousin." He whispered in my ear.

Drawing myself back, I glanced at him with big eyes. He gave me a look that told... don't spoil their fun, dear cousin.

My gaze drifted back to Charles. He was wearing a dark blue suit. Jasper curled his arm around my shoulder.

"Emersyn," Charles smiled nervously.

He's Beta. Nervousness doesn't suit him.

I couldn't help but stare at him. I don't know what to say. Such things seem complicated to me. I should have completed our bond. Perhaps, I wouldn't be going through this then.

"He's my son, Luke," Charles said.

"Hello, step-sister," There was sarcasm in his tone.

Jasper and Charles stared at him, "It's okay." I said and ignored him. I have a lot of things to care about. I shivered with cold as it felt reaching through my skin. I didn't notice it was late in the evening.

"I should turn the heat on." Charles excuses himself.

Luke plopped on the couch again, ignoring my presence.

"Are you relatives?" I asked, ignoring him too.

"Yes, Uncle is beta as Luke still needs a lot of things to learn when I become Alpha." He said.

Luke's head snapped at me, "You can't talk in front of a human." He snorted.

Jasper gave him a look, his gaze stern on him. Deflating, Luke lowered his gaze.

"Are you talking in your heads?" I asked him.

Jasper exhaled. We were interrupted by the click of heels, "Emma, have you met Luke? He's Charles' son."

My jaw dropped on the ground when I glanced at my mother. God!! She looked like my elder sister in a black mini dress. Only two years older. Her hair was wavy falling over her shoulders, the dress laid on her body perfectly.

"Gosh!!! Are you really my mom? You look ravishing." I plucked myself from Jasper's hold and hugged my mother. She smelled so good, Jasmine and leaves.

Mom chuckled, "Sweetie! Are you going to attend dinner in your pyjamas?" After hugging me back, she drew a step back and drifted her gaze on me.

"I guess. It's warm." I muttered, shrugging my shoulders.

"Hi, brother." Ava walked into the hall and lifted her hand to give a HiFi to Luke. He returned it with a full smile.

Oh! They've already accepted being brother sister. Good to know. He only dislikes me. I can deal with it.

"We're heading to the club after dinner," Luke said.

"Take Emma with you." Mom said.

He looked at me with a bored expression, "Kiddo can get sick with the cold, mom." He mocked me.

He called my mom... mom! I couldn't hide my shock. They're already a perfect family. I'm the only one who doesn't fit in.

"You're taking your sisters with you. And no drinking kids," She said, strictly. I could see she loves and cares for him as a mother does to her son.

"We're not kids, mom." Ava rolled her eyes with slightly thinned lips.

"I think. I'm somewhere else." I spun to the dining hall.

"I can help you to pack your stuff, kiddo." Luke mocked again, laughing heartily.

Ava joined him, "Kiddo! Oh goodness," She held her tummy.

Now I feel like I'm an outcast. They have a problem with me that I'm not one of them. Bullying is starting from my home. Great!

"You okay?" Jasper asked, glaring at them.

"I have you, brother." I smiled up at him. He doesn't make me feel an outsider. "And you're the future Alpha." I wiggled my brows, "Bonus!" I declared smilingly.

He smirked and tugged me toward the door. But he didn't forget to shoot a warning look at them.

I took the seat which I saw first and waited for them to start. I could feel the excitement bubbling in my stomach. I was happy for her.

Charles was looking nervous as a teenage boy. He slipped his hand in his pocket and took out a black velvet small box. He cleared his throat. Mom was putting the empty utensils in the sink.

"Carla, hon, " His gaze swept over us and stopped on mom again. She walked over to him. He went on his knees.

My mother gasped. Her cheeks swelled with her smile. Her hands shot to her mouth in astonishment.

"I'll rip your head if you dare to..." Luke whispered in my ear, clearly threatening me.

I stared at him, "Are you threatening me?"

He shrugged his shoulders, "I like my father's happiness, him smiling. I expect that you would like to see your mother happy too." He bared his teeth.

Expect! Or demand? I snorted inwardly. He doesn't like me. It is written all over his face.

"Carla Nelson," My head jerked to them, "Will you honour me to marry you?" Charles asked. The beta was nervous like hell.

Tears welled in my mother's eyes. Her gaze turned to me. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Now I understand. Why did he threaten me? She wanted my permission. Ava and Luke have already approved them. It's written all over their faces. I didn't know Charles. His son already disliked me. I did not fit in their family. I didn't want any father figure around me.

"Say yes! " Ava yelled and stared at me.

My sister wasn't my sister anymore. She looked me down. I could feel proud in her voice when she addressed Luke her brother.

"Say yes, mom." I smiled to encourage her. I was no one to affect their happiness.

"Yes, Carla," Jasper encouraged.

Mom turned to him and nodded her head with happy tears, " Yes, " She extended her hand.

There was already a ring on her hand. Charles must have asked her before. Everything was for me. Charles slid the ring on her finger. The hall echoed with the sound of clapping.

"Hi," Jasper nudged his shoulder.

"I wanna know about the meeting that I missed," I gestured at the door. He nodded and got on his feet, "Congratulations, Charles, Carla." He embraced Charles.

"Thank you, young man." His tap on his back was strong enough to echo in the room.

Taking a step back from Charles, he kissed my mother's cheek, "Welcome to our family, Carla." Jasper said, flashing a soft smile.

Her gaze was holding motherly love, "Thank you, Jasper," She touched his cheek as she used to touch our when we were kids.

I copied the move and walked to my mother and hugged her. I didn't say a word for a second. Then I felt the need to say something. My silence may hurt her, "I'm happy for you." I whispered.

She pulled back and studied my face. Her eyes pooled with tears, "Thank you. I was so worried," Her smile was reaching her waterful eyes.

She shouldn't. It's her life. She should always pick her happiness.
