After attending classes, I was finding a spot to hide myself. I didn't want to attend martial arts. I loved my bones. No one wanted to understand that.
I walked over to the narrow path, lawn on both sides. My pace was slow, eyes wandering around.
My gaze stopped at the old tree. Pacing forward, I sat resting my back against the trunk. I slipped my hand in my bag and took out the book. These books contained every information I needed to understand them.
I huffed in a lungful air when I opened the book. I didn't tell my friends about skipping class. They would force me in.
"So, here you are,"
I screamed and the book jumped out of my lap in the air.
Alessandro caught it with one hand and looked at me.
My heart was drumming in my ears, "You won't tell anyone, right?" I tried to even my breathing.
"I'm your headmaster," His face and eyes held nothing.
I gulped, "I don't like martial arts. No one can force me."
"You don't like it or you don't want to." He advanced his hand with the book.
I took it, "I don't want to get hurt again." I replied, honestly.
"Go to class, Emma." His voice was powerful.
"No," I shook my head. No one could break my determination.
He squatted down where he was standing," You have gotten my words, Alpha's words." My jaw dropped. He's the Alpha. I have read about Alpha, his command, his control over his pack, strength, "You won't get a scratch."
"I can do this without going to class. No scratch." I giggled.
"You shouldn't turn down Dastien's words." He said, sighing.
"Headmaster," I straightened my back, I focused on breathing in and out, "You can punish me. But I won't go."
With a curl on his lips, he shook his head, "He'll be here soon to whom you're going to listen." Placing his palms over his knees he pushed himself to his full height.
"Your Alpha thing isn't helping. Don't forget. I'm not a shifter." I chuckled when his Alpha command didn't work on me.
Alessandro smirked, a not very nice smile. I stared at him. He had a plan.
I felt him before seeing him. His pace was elegant and soundless. He stood next to Alessandro, "You're not skipping your class, get up."
"No," I ranted, pushing myself up and gathering my backpack. I swiped my gaze on his handsome face, before paddling away from him,
"Emma," I squeezed my eyes. His voice did a miracle. He's the king. No way, I would come under his territory. He can't order me. But I couldn't resist the demand his voice made. Whenever he was in close proximity, every nerve ending came to life. I did things I didn't intend to. I was all twitchy.
Without a word, I headed to the building. I needed to talk to Mr Wolfe. He would help me.
When I reached the hall, Silver and Betty were already waiting for me out of the door.
"You're ten minutes late," Silver held my hand and began to haul me in.
"Were you with Alessandro and Dastien?" Elizabeth furrowed her brows.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"I can sniff their smell around you." Elizabeth seemed confused.
"But I didn't touch them."
They laughed, "We're Alpha's daughter. More powerful than shifters." Silver mused.
"You mean, extra powers?" I asked.
"Hm, Alessandro is her mate. She could scent him, feel him miles away. I'm glad you're reading books and learning." Elizabeth smiled.
"It's time to learn some self-defence," Silver said, excitement filled her voice.
"Ladies, you're late," Carlos cleared his throat.
"What's he doing here? " I whispered, "He's not here to torture me, right?" I asked.
"He's the professor, dumb human." A dark-haired girl hissed at me.
Before I could reply, Silver launched herself at her, her punch connected her jaw.
The girl hit the wall, sliding on the floor.
"Wao! That's f*****g amazing," I giggled.
"Stay away from her if you don't wanna breathe the last air in your body," Silver's voice was so full of threat that it sent shivers down my body. When she turned to us. Her eyes were glowing amber.
I elbowed Elizabeth, "Sh," Elizabeth placed her hand over my arm, "Her wolf is protecting you."
I blinked at her as nothing made sense to me. I hadn't read about it. Why would she protect me? She must have promised Alessandro to protect me.
Yes! It makes sense.
My legs were in pain after skipping rope for an hour. I glared at Carlos. He smirked, giving a shake to his head as I walked out of the gym.
I was happy running here and there, driving my bicycle. "You must be happy now," I thinned my lips, stomping my feet.
"It's so easy to irk you," Elizabeth laughed.
My stare turned to her, "No one would like it if things are forced." I said.
"Geez, Em! You look pretty serious about it," Silver nudged my shoulder.
A scowl crumpled over my face when I stared at them. They flashed their best smiles my way.
I forced my face to stay impassive, but irritation seemed to adopt me.
"Come on, Em. I'm dying of hunger. I'm so hungry that I can eat you too." Elizabeth said.
My eyes widened hearing her out. My eyes jerked to her. Irritation was replaced by shock, "Can you eat human?" I asked fearfully.
Laughing, she shook her head, "I'm kidding." She smiled.
I sucked a deep breath, "Your jokes can give me heart attacks." My pace slowed. I was feeling drained.
Elizabeth curled her arms around my shoulder, " You need to eat," She hurried me toward the cafeteria.
"My legs! I'm in pain," My eyes filled with tears. I wasn't kidding.
Without another word, we strolled inside. Silver was ahead of us, near the counter. She grabbed three plates. I closed my eyes for a full second. It felt relaxing. I exhaled the exhaust from my body.
"Elizabeth, are you doing something?" I asked.
Her chuckle answered me, "No," I heard her.
I didn't know. Was lying allowed in this academy?
"My mother comforts me sometimes with her energy," she breathed.
I haven't read anything about it. I nodded, knowing I wouldn't be the only one to hear it. They have good hearing, all of them. I couldn't ask what her mother was.
"She's a healer too." Silver whispered in my ear as she placed the plates down on the table.
"Pack healer," I whispered the word from the book I was reading.
Silver and Elizabeth looked at me and then around us. They wanted to say something but picked to not take the risk. A second thought flickered through my mind. But I didn't know anything about them. I was knowing them.
Abruptly, I noticed Elizabeth and Silver sniffing the air. I tried to do the same. All I could smell was the delicious food in front of me.
"Betty!" Silver thinned her lips.
"Yea! I can smell it too," Elizabeth replied.
Their expression told as they didn't like the smell.
"I didn't fart, I swear." I looked at them, leaning back on the chair.
After looking at me, they erupted into laughter. I felt all gazes turned to us but it didn't stay longer. Silver was Alessandro's true mate. They didn't want to upset Alpha. It was a huge relief.
"We're not..." Silver stopped as a personality stood on the other side of our table.
She was tall, draped in a mini yellow dress, blonde long hair, she looked at us with her amber eyes, "Hi, girls!" There was no hug shared between them if she was their friend. She was a fashionable girl, walking on a ram. Two more girls were with her, dressed like dolls, but not pink dresses. They looked like twins. I recognized them.
"Hi, Samantha," Silver said, her tone was dry. I could guess it, she wasn't part of the group.
"Hi, how was your vacation?" Elizabeth asked.
Silver wasn't showing any interest. She drew her plate closer to her and began to eat. When she noticed my eyes on her. She gestured me to eat with her index finger clenching the fork in her hand.
"It was da** amazing, beaches were fabulous. I was missing, King." That's all I could hear, "So!" Silver looked up at Samantha as she had sensed her bad intentions, "Rumours are true," Her amber eyes were feeling dagger to me, "She's the only human girl who could endure our Alpha girl's wrath and is still alive,"
"We shouldn't forget. She's also sitting next to her." One of her friends said, the right one and giggled.
"Miracle," The left one said.
Samantha seemed to me full of an egoistic personality. I loved to stay away from such types. Silver is good from the heart. Samantha just doesn't seem to me,... I won't say her bad but I am also not going to use the good word for her either.
I shook my head, "Where are all?" I asked, popping the potato in my mouth.
"Boys!" Elizabeth sighed, there was a soft smirk over her face. She must be thinking about her loved one.
"Patrolling," Silver rolled her eyes.
I looked at her to explain, "Oh! I don't understand. Why did our temporary headmaster, Alessandro allow such a weak and vulnerable being in our world? She could leak the information, and put all of us in trouble." Samantha said, her chin held high.
All heads turned to me, making me more uncomfortable.
"We're the one, dangerous for her. Stop picturing her, Sam." Elizabeth said rudely.
"She's not our to defend," Samantha crushed her eyebrows together in annoyance.
"I'm not asking for your permission," Elizabeth snapped, her hand clenching, eyes glowing.
The situation was intense. Silver immediately pulled me away from her like I was a delicate flower, instead of a human being.
Samantha glared at her, her amber eyes turning black.
My heart raced. I did not want to get trapped between shifters' fights. I wouldn't be able to make out alive.
"Enough!" Silver's voice was a roar, a command.
She was Alpha's mate, She-Alpha. I got up and stepped back when Silver eyes glowed. They were the same as I remembered when she attacked me. They just stared at each other. Time seemed to stop. I thought to run away but I wasn't one of them who showed back.
Samantha strode away, with her girls trailing behind her.
I held my breath when Silver and Elizabeth turned to me. Silver's lips twitched up. Their eyes were back to normal, "We didn't scare you?" She asked.
My gulp answered them. My breathing turned shallow.
Elizabeth strode forward and gave me a tight hug, "Hi, it's in our nature to protect what's our. We're friends."
"Protect ours?"
Silver giggled, "She always repeated what she can't understand. I like her."
"I'm still here, Silver," I held myself from rolling my eyes.
"Difficult to make you understand sometimes. We protect our family, friends and those who care for us. It's normal. Just stay behind. No need to fear." She tugged me to my chair and settled in her seat.
I sat down. My hunger died but I forced myself to sit and eat. I didn't want them to worry unnecessarily.
Silver nudged my arm when I didn't speak, "Thank you. I never have any friends." I admitted. Ava was my only best friend. But she was not around. I couldn't use my phone, couldn't meet her. That changed a lot of things.
They looked at me, their expressions were perplexed and shocked. They hugged me at once. It felt really good. I wrapped my arms around them. I needed it. A perfect remedy to escape Nostalgia.
