I wanted to walk back to my dorm. They weren't back and I hadn't heard anything from them. Being with Dastien was easy but I couldn't suppress questions hovering in my mind. Weren't they coming back yesterday?
I wanted to stay and waited for him to return. My anxiety didn't allow me to sit calmly. I needed someone who could answer all my questions easily.
'I need to know. How everything is going to work between us. Feelings I can't ignore. If I neglect them, they're going to torment me back. '
The thought of his warm and soft lips made my whole body flush. He didn't need to do much, still he would wait for me to be ready. When I first saw him, I felt like I knew him. I hadn't shown any interest in guys before. He was going to be my first and everything.
"Hi, you look tired," Max said, coming my way.
Grace flashed her best smile that was reaching her eyes and she waved at me. I waved back at them, "Hi," I smiled. I badly needed someone to answer me.
"You look disturbed," Grace asked.
My gaze lit up when I actually looked at them, "You guys know a lot about this," I drew a circle in the air with my hand.
Max arched his eyebrows with a smirk, "I can see a lot of questions coming." He flashed his usual smile.
"Can we go somewhere else?" I asked, hoping to get all the answers. I'd been waiting for it for a long time.
"Nope," Grace shook her head.
My eyebrows creased, "It was attacked yesterday at the downtown market. Your mate won't allow you out of his sight," Max's expression turned serious.
"So, everyone knows." I breathed out
Grace stepped forward, she took my hand in her, "I have heard a lot. Sweetie and Frankie, they were spreading rumours about King and Samantha."
I blinked, "Why would they do this to her? Her own friend?" I asked in disbelief.
"She was the mastermind and creator of this mess. She wanted to play with your emotions and mind. And she was almost successful last night. Almost!" Max crossed his arms and stared at me.
"Wedding or Mating ceremony. There needs Only one thing between the couple- Trust. You should trust your mate. You won't find a single case in our entire world. Werewolves never cheat on their mate." Grace patted the back of my hand.
I nodded my head, "Got it. Thank you." I exhaled in relief.
"We can go to the third floor. We can get an empty classroom for your questions.'' Max wiggled his eyebrows.
I wanted to throw something at him. But Grace's cute face held me back from doing bad to him.
" Let's go," I got on my feet and walked toward the building.
Heading toward school, I noticed all the gazes on me but when I returned their gaze they looked away. I lowered my head to stop myself from doing anything stupid, like glare at them. I didn't want any more enemies.
"This looks perfect," Max pushed open the door. The floor was almost empty.
"Why isn't it in use?" I asked. I looked closely. There was a sign of burning; it was covered with paint.
"Long story! Everything was destroyed on this floor. We were under attack," Max said, looking at the walls.
"The whole floor caught fire. King saved us," Grace said. I saw the horror on her face. Perhaps she was there too.
Max pulled her to his side and kissed her head.
This must be their sneak out place.
The room was dusky, "Ladies," Max motioned at the desks he had cleaned with his handkerchief. Grace blushed. Max cleared his throat. Their facial expressions were telling they were talking in their heads. They sat together on the same desk.
I sat down on the opposite desk, "So..." I didn't wanna waste time. They really wanted to be alone, "I won't take.."
Max waved his hand in the air, "Just ask, Emma." He said, smiling.
"I'm human." I giggled nervously, "He's the werewolf."
"He's not just the werewolf. He's the king of all shifters and dark creatures in this world." Grace leaned forward.
"Is that scary?" I asked, swallowing, "Dark creatures?"
"She didn't mean to scare you. He's the king." Max shared a look with his mate.
"Half knowledge is injurious. You know," I tried to crack my knuckles.
"Yeah!!" He hesitated, "All dark creatures, shifters and dangerous creatures of the dark realm."
"Dark realm?" His information was bringing out a new word.
"He's the king of the dark realm. No one knows anything about the Dark Realm and dark creatures. They are dangerous and humans can't go there." He said.
"Where's this place?" I asked, "Are we banned? Was there any war between them?"
He chuckled, "No," His smile died and fear clenched him and Grace.
I looked back at the door. There was no one. My gaze turned to them with creased brows.
"It's not on the earth." My body trembled. The authority in his voice was at peak.
I swirled in my seat and swallowed roughly. It felt dead silent. I tried to calm my breathing as my heart was pounding against my chest.
"King, we're just talking." Max got on his feet.
"Your father is the local pack's alpha." He asked Max.
Max nodded. His face was a mask. But Grace couldn't hide her fear. She muttered something in the local language.
Dastien's gaze turned to her. He replied in the same language. Grace relaxed.
"Can you all talk in English?" I glowered at them.
"Meet me with your father," He told him.
"Yes," He bowed his head. He held Grace's hand. They left the room quickly.
"What are you going to do? They were just trying to sort my confusion." Irk coursed through me.
"You should ask me," He said, his cold expression hiding all the softness.
"Why would I? I came here for a job. Now I'm your mate. Things are complicated. My friends, they're not around. I don't even know they're my friends. They never call, never leave a message for me. I don't know what I should do, my head is going to explode." He pressed his finger on my lips to shut me up.
"There's nothing to fear," His gaze locked with mine.
My eyebrows shot up, "If you're planning to hurt Max and her relatives. I'm not gonna talk to you ever." I wasn't sure. Would my threat work or not? We're not officially a couple, not in love. Oh gosh! I held my breath in anticipation.
"Hm," He nodded. His arm came around me, "Let's walk to your class." He walked over to the door tugging me with him.
"You're not kidding and you won't do anything wrong to them." I asked.
"I won't," He sealed the promise with a peck on my cheek, "We can talk after your class." He said.
"What are dark creatures," I asked. I couldn't peel my gaze away from him.
His lips curled up slightly, "Demons,"
"Demons!" My surprised tone came out as a squeal, "Are they real?" I ask.
He nodded. I gulped. I didn't wanna ever behold them. They would be dangerous like him.
"You're their king," I asked. He nodded again, "And Dark realm?" I asked
He stopped walking and faced me. He lifted his chin, staring at the sky. I followed the move. The sky was clear, no clouds, and the sun was bright in the sky.
"I can see it," He said.
My eyes widened, goosebumps rippled through my body, "You're kidding." I tiptoed, holding his arm, trying to peep in his eyes. It looked normal to me.
His eyes jerked to me. I stumbled, his arm fastened around me gripping me to his chest. His eyes were glowing fire. The dark aura around him deepened.
"What have I to do in your life? I'm not powerful." I looked up at the sky. Nothing.
"I have enough power for us."
"Is it possible? We can be together?" I asked.
His hot breath moved across my skin. I lowered my chin glancing back at his forest green eyes, "Are you doubting?" I just stared at him, "You can feel me before seeing me. Don't you?" He asked.
True!
I nodded, "I need some time. I...." I clamped my mouth again. Answers aren't helping me. They're confusing me more. I should read the book to understand them.
I've been worried for the last few days. I could feel something stirring inside me. I didn't pay attention but I couldn't always neglect it. Mostly I felt it around him. As I'm content with his presence around me, his touch, I like all this. I could perceive the energy within me. A part of me liked him. I don't know how to explain it to him. Right now, that energy is pushing me to be nearer to him.
His fingers slithered through my hair, "You're not under pressure." He said.
I embraced him, resting my head on his chest. The tension left my body. He knew some miracle.
He hugged me tight to his chest, "Spend the weekend with me," He asked.
I glanced up at him. A full smirk tilted over my lips, "If you are taking me out of the academy. Then yes," I broke the hug, strutting away from him.
"Alright," He smiled, he followed me with his long strides.
"Then, done." I could feel his gaze caressing my skin without touching me.
His arm came around. The warmth of his body was comfortable. I could stay with him like this the entire day. My thoughts made me smile.
"Your friends are fine and on their way back home." He muttered.
I nodded, "I should go to class. I'm already lagging." I pushed on his chest. He was going to walk me to the class. It'd be better if I go alone. I couldn't take the flow of my feelings.
He sighed and gave a firm nod. We trotted until we split. I dared to look over my shoulder at him. A part of me leapt in happiness when I saw him watching me. I swiped my tongue over my dried lips. He was sculpted by the Gods.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air, I spun to attend my class.
' Mate fulfils happiness. His presence does it. It's just beginning. I am wondering what will be my situation after developing a full attachment to him.'
I was about to enter the class when my eyes caught the sight of Samantha with her friends.
Her gaze caused a fearful tremor down my body. I could tell she was going to hurt me as everyone knew I'm his mate.
Instead of halting on my feet, I kept walking. Goosebumps rose on my skin when I passed through the door. I tried to rein the emotions, I could not let her be satisfied that her glare was affecting me.
"See that slut!" I heard her friend laughing at me.
I wasn't used to degrading tones and words. I would end up in the hospital. Dastien didn't think about it. Did he? Shouldn't he keep it a secret? Most importantly, shouldn't he stay away from girls? When he knew his true mate was waiting out in the world for him. These boys enjoyed first and now we paid like this, hearing insults from their Exes. Silver had struck enough fear within me.
I stumbled over something. His warm hands curled around my arms, saving me from hitting my face on the ground.
He balanced me on my feet, "You alright?" Drake asked me, his rare eyes swept over me, inspecting for any sign of injury.
"Yeah, thanks." I smiled. I was relieved to see a familiar face among strangers. It had been more than a month since I had attended the class. But I couldn't snatch a good friend for me.
"I'm teaching you today. Mrs Smith is busy with other tasks today." He said when my questioning gaze met his.
"Oh! Great," I clapped my hands together and sat on the first desk. It was safe to sit in front of the teacher's table when everyone wanted to hurt you.
I felt the sadness building inside me. The word 'Slut' kept revolving in my mind.
My body jolted when Drake punched in Peter's face. He glared at him and then at Samantha and her friends, "I won't endure s*** in my class." he suddenly became lethally overprotective to me.
"I'm sorry. Are you hurt?" Peter turned to me.
His legs were stretched out when I stumbled.
I shook my head. After a moment of silence. Drake cleared his throat.
"Open page number 139," He said and turned to the table.
I took out the book from my backpack quickly, I didn't want to upset him, though his anger wasn't directed at me.
