Chapter 42

Ch. 42 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

Elizabeth flashed me a tight smile. The dinner was amazing. I was in love with their cooking skills, "You can stay with us," She said.

"I say the same thing." I flashed a full smile.

"I'm going out with Alex. Mr Wolfe is back. So he can break the rules again." Silver blinked at us.

I arched my brows. Suddenly, I felt uneasy in my own skin. my skin felt like there was something under it, something pulsing with a life of its own. Dastien was right behind me. I could smell him, his scent was like wood, fresh air after rain in the forest. Small sparks of electricity skated across my skin where he touched his fingers against mine. My odd feelings changed into something romantic.

"You okay?" The deep, gravelly sound of his voice sent a shiver through me.

A frown mars my face, "Mate bond. Are you feeling through it?" I asked.

Whatever this insane feeling was that coursed me, I was glad Dastien was close.

"I can cancel the plans," Silver's eyes shone with concern.

I shook my head, "I'm fine."

"Sure? " Dastien asked. His lips grazed my ear, and I shuddered at the feeling that swept through me. Dastien moved back enough to give room to us.

"Okay, then. Good night." Silver said and kissed my cheek. Alessandro drew his arm around her. He was quiet during the dinner. Dastien and Alessandro were talking in mind with the bond. Something was troubling them.

"Good night, Emma." Alessandro smiled at me and nodded at Dastien.

I smiled at them. They walked out through the front door. Elizabeth sighed heavily and pulled me into a hug.

"You know where to find me if you need any help." She said.

"Yeah, thanks, " I smiled. But her sadness affected me.

She whirled, "Good night, Emma. King."

"Ya, good night." I waved at her.

I stared at their backs. His arm tightened around me again.

I should go with them. Why was I so stubborn to listen to my heart, the voice that continuously asked me to stay, "I think. I should stay with Elizabeth today. She looked upset."

He stared at me before nodding his head. He leaned in and claimed my mouth. His lips were warm and soft. His tongue slid over my lips, a soft bite, demanding full control. I opened up for him.

Heat crawled my neck to face, my lips felt on fire. I sucked in a deep breath when he pulled back, "G... good night," I stuttered.

"We have a lot of time, I guess." He looked over my shoulder with a smirk.

Turning, I squeezed my eyes shut, "We shouldn't see them making out," I pushed Dastien in and locked the door behind him. Elizabeth was with Edward, "You're not used to it, Nah?" I asked, frowning at the lock.

He took me in a tight hug. I was witnessing the side of him, no one would ever, "I never locked my door." He said.

"Yeah, no one dares to come between The king and his path," I giggled. A blazing trail of heat slid up my arms when his hands slithered on my arms.

Smiling, he scooped me up, "We need a lock now."

I giggled, "It can wait for...." I couldn't hide the fear. His scent invaded my senses, providing me with the demanding calm, "I'm not scared. Things are changing quickly. I came here. Then your world. Now we. I love us," I added immediately.

He smiled walking toward his room, carrying me in his arms with ease.

"I know," he whispered and lowered his head, his lips kissing the tender skin of my neck. A gasp escaped at the feeling that reached in the pit of my stomach when his teeth grazed my skin. Our gaze locked. His forest green eyes flashed a mix of amber and fire, they glistened with sheer happiness. I clenched his shoulders, digging my fingers. His mouth continued its slow, torturous trek up my neck, along my jaw. I tilted my head to give him better access. He whispered something I didn't understand. He reclined me on the mattress. My hands were still clenching him, refusing him to bring distance between us. His lips pressed into mine, and fire erupted in my body, igniting a flame that burnt like a fire through me.

"Don't stop," Desire pulsed through me. I knew what I was demanding.

His smile broadened, ''Go to sleep," His soft voice was commanding.

It felt as if he could control my body. My eyelids turned heavy. I wanted to look at him the entire night. His fingers pushed the hair back from my forehead, his fingers slithered through my hair. The inner part of me tried to fight his command. His lips pressed on my forehead. The warmth of his arms moved away pushing me in the dark.

'The dark greeted me. My feet were carrying me without my desire, deep in the dark. The silence was spooky around me.

Heavy footsteps rang behind me. I spun. The dark was so thick I couldn't see anything. The cold was freezing me. I rubbed my hands on my warm. It was in vain. I was watching only in the dark, no ray of light was visible.

"I was waiting for you. It hurts so much without you," A strong hand crawled gripping my arm.

I squealed but nothing came out. It terrified me.

"Why did you?" His voice turned aggressive.

My body was paralyzed, terror-filled my heart. It was only dark but I could feel a strong personality around me.

His hands slithered up my arm, a shiver of fear ran inside my body. I tried to move away from him, nothing. He squeezed my shoulder. Fear snaked through me, his fingers moved on my collarbones. The panic inside me screamed. His index finger slowly slid down. '

I screamed as I fell down. My eyes jerked open. My gaze landed on the dark carpets, dark marble floor. The panic hit hard, forcing the air out of my lungs rapidly.

I flinched when two hands landed on my shoulders. My stomach twisted painfully. Dark green eyes looked at me with concern, "I hear your screams, " I looked up at her concerned features.

My breathing was still audible in my ears. My heart was drumming against my ribcage, making other voices fade.

Loud footsteps thudded. Dastien rushed into the room. Alessandro, Daniel were behind him.

"I was dreaming. I thought...." I gulped, staring into his forest green eyes. The colour was sending calm vibes in my body, "It felt real," I breathed out.

Elizabeth stepped back. The fear returned. I didn't notice she was using her magic to calm my nerves down. Dastien took her place and pulled me to his chest, wrapping his arms around me. His heart was beating a little faster from the normal rhythm.

" You were dreaming. Are you feeling better now? " He murmured softly

I inhaled his scent, closing my eyes, "I'm fine," I placed my hand over his beating heart.

When I opened my eyes we were alone in the room. He picked me up in his arms and sat on the mattress, he took me in his lap, embracing me tightly to his chest.

I didn't wanna lie to him. I wrapped my arm around his neck and buried my face in the crook of his neck, "It was horrible. I couldn't move." Hot tears made my eyes burn but I refused to cry. My heart was still drumming.

"Forget. It was just a nightmare." He ran his hand through my hair and cupped the side of my face, forcing my gaze to focus on him.

I nodded. It was a nightmare. I shouldn't spoil his day and ruin our mood. My head fell on his shoulder, "Just hold me for a second." I said.

"I can hold you forever, Chérie!" He pecked on my cheek. But I could feel his entire body stiffen.

His breath came out in a slow, heavy gust, his gaze never left me, "Your friends are waiting out of the room." He said.

I looked at the open door. I nodded, "It was just a dream. You don't need to worry about me." I said.

Dastien loosened his grip. I stepped out of the bed. Silver engulfed me, "Are you alright? I heard your scream from a distance. You truly scared me,"

I giggled, "You were the one who scared me in the past. "

"It isn't funny, Emma. I thought. Someone attacked you," Her voice broke.

"Gosh!" I hugged her again, "I am sorry"

"Are you okay?" She asked in a whisper.

"Yes," I muttered.

"We should get ready for our classes." Elizabeth said, breaking the tension.

"Thank you," I mouthed to her.

"We are waiting outside," Silver left the room with others. I felt Alessandro, Edward and Daniel's gaze on me. I smiled assuring them. They nodded and left the room.

I looked back. The strangest expression crossed his face. I walked over to him, "Wait" He said and I stilled.

He pulled open the drawer and took out a phone, "Keep it with you." He shoved the phone in my hand. The pain in his voice was unmistakable.

"But it's not allowed. I can't break the rules," I told him.

"I don't care," He cupped my face.

My eyes drifted close, feeling the proximity. A soft smile eased the tension on my face, "I'm truly fine," I'd never been more scared, "I feel protected with you."

He kissed my head, "Don't let your fear hold you,"

I looked back at him with a smirk, "Don't act like an old man," I slapped on his chest.

He caught my hand and kissed my knuckles, "I'm just three years older than you."

Ghost! I never asked his age. But I was glad to know, "I'll be going. They're waiting," I pecked on his lips and ran out of the door. I could feel his smile.

My friends smiled and grabbed my hand, "I have enough dresses for us." Silver pulled me out with her.

I nodded excitedly, quickening my steps.

I liked my dress today. I was wearing a black dangri with a midnight blue blouse. They were doting me today. I had told them a hundred times. But they didn't want to believe it.

"Walk fast girl. I'm starving." Elizabeth hurried her steps toward the cafeteria.

"Me too," Silver was acting weird. They were boxing me from both sides and pulling me with them.

"Silver! Betty! What happened?" I asked.

"You truly scared me, Em." Silver choked on her words.

"That was a dream," I said.

"We felt your pain through your screams. Don't ask how we did it? We're friends." She muttered.

I opened my mouth. Silver growled looking at the queue, "Wait here, Em." Elizabeth said, sliding her bag on our usual table. Silver did the same.

I placed the backpack down and pulled out the chair. Someone yanked me so hard that I fell on my arse. My eyes widened staring at the person.

Samantha was looking fully different from her princess look. Her hair was dishevelled, eyes bloodshot, a simple black gown, no makeup. My gaze turned worried.

"Are you al...right, " The words died in my mouth and fear kicked in my stomach to run away.

Samantha pulled the gun straight to me. She didn't miss any second and pulled the trigger.

It became awfully quiet, my breathing stuck in my throat. Tears began to run down my cheeks. I tightened my arms around her as she stumbled. My legs felt weak. Fear of losing her strangled me, "You can't die. Please." My voice shook in fear.

Elizabeth shifted into a dark grey wolf and launched herself at Samantha.

Samantha was looking at us with big eyes, horror clung to her features. The gun fell from her hands, "I'm sorry, Silver." Samantha squealed. Her body was shaking terribly.

Elizabeth pounced at her, pinning her down.

"Silver," My voice cracked. I placed her head on my lap.

I brushed my hand over her cheeks to tuck the hair away. Blood was oozing from the side of her waist. I pressed my hand on the wound.

"Please, don't leave me. You're my best friend." My voice shivered. My tears fell on her shoulder.

Her eyes fluttered open, "Really?" She smiled.

My eyes dilated, my eyes jerked to the side of her waist. Her white top was soaked with blood but the wound disappeared.

I began to sob hard and hugged her so tightly, "I was so scared. I thought. You left us."

She hugged me back, "I'm fine, Em. It wasn't a silver bullet." Her words couldn't comfort my pain.

I pulled back and slapped her bicep, "Never try to save me again." I glared at her. She laughed. I slapped her again, "Are you making fun of me?"

"No," She wiped her thumbs under my eyes, "We're best friends." She pulled me in a hug again, "Oh! Betty, it wasn't a silver bullet. I'm fine." She glanced at them.

A gasp left my throat. Samantha was bleeding from many cuts. There was blood on her claws. I attempt not to freak out. Nothing could bring a sense of peace. Elizabeth bared her teeth at Samantha bending on her forelegs. I never imagined beautiful Elizabeth so dangerous, her eyes were dark, like her mate, Edward.

Silver flashed her evil grin my way. I slapped her again. More tears rolled down my eyes, "I thought, you died." My sobs broke the silence.

Her grin vanished, "Oh freak!" Silver shot on her feet.

My neck turned, looking at the door. Alessandro was standing in the centre of the hall, his expression rigid, eyes flashing amber, his knuckles were white with fisted hands. He was breathing hard.

"I'm fine, Alex," She covered the crimson part of her white dress with her hand and slowly walked toward him.

I glanced down at my hands. My face scrunched up as the wave of pain washed over me again. I pushed myself on my feet and spun to the door.

Alessandro was hugging her tight to his chest. Silver was whispering something to placate him. I passed through them. I kept on walking and crying, looking down at my hand. It was crimson with her blood. She put her life in danger to save me. She didn't consider herself and her mate.

Two strong hands cupped my face. My chin jerked up, "I thought. She died." I broke into sobs again. He engulfed me, "I felt... I can't breathe. It hurts so much," I kept on blabbing and crying on his chest. It was feeling so bad. I truly made a friend. No air escaped my lungs. Flashes of sight haunted me, the sight of her blood on my hand taunted me.

"Breath, Chérie." His voice was low and rough. His large hand rubbed my back.

My hands were trembling over his chest. I glanced into his burning eyes. Anger and frustration filled his eyes. I stumbled back. His eyes were a pool of dark orbs. His hand on my back stopped me.

"Dastien, your eyes." My voice trembled. It was spooky.

He blinked. He tilted his head and looked behind me, "Alessandro," His voice was heavier than usual, dangerous.

I spun, "Alex, what's happening to him?" I asked, my voice was still cracking.

Alessandro began to speak in another language. He was holding Silver's hand, pulling her to his side as he couldn't endure her away.

Elizabeth was clenching Samantha's arm. Samantha wasn't trying to run. Her face was flushed with embarrassment.

Flames ran across his arms. The dread hit me hard, forcing the air out of my lungs, "Dastien," I shivered, looking in the depth of his mysterious eyes. His eyes were a dark pool of burning fire.

"You will be deprived of your wolf-soul. You will become a human. You're no longer a part of the pack." Dastien said in a deep voice.

Despite my fear, I turned. Samantha was standing next to Elizabeth. Her dress was torn and bloodied. Her cut had healed.

"No, King! I'm so sorry. I'm really sorry." She wailed. "My wolf...!" She fell to the ground, writhing in pain, "She's gone! She's gone! " she choked out, tears running down her cheeks. She was rocking her body back and forth, her hands were shivering.

My heart ached seeing her in deep pain. I forgot after witnessing her in pain that flames were dancing around me, " Dastien, what's happening?" I asked again, forcing the words out of my mouth. Dread clenched my stomach.

His foreign language felt like a lullaby to my ears. My gaze turned heavy. I gripped his arm. My hand sliced through the burning fire. It didn't harm me. I felt the fire caressing my skin.
