I cast a hard look at the cafeteria's door. The sandwiches he asked Rhetti to pack for me were still placed inside my backpack. It was lunchtime. He should be here at any time.
I saw Samantha's friends giving me a hateful look but their smiles were saying something else. But Samantha wasn't around her group. That didn't happen rarely too.
'She will be with him.' The voice inside me spoke, full of annoyance.
The bell rang, announcing the end of lunch break. Deep loneliness had steadily crept up on me. I shouldn't be bothered about him. How could he be so cruel? He's known for his cruelty. Doesn't he? He kissed me twice, he was hanging out with her. There are a lot of shifters. They could find her sister better than him with their experience.
I pushed myself up and stormed out. I could not ignore the bitter edge forming inside me. Before Samantha and her friends, my own feelings would kill me. I wanted to go away, somewhere alone.
My feet halted in the class. I looked around for Samantha. But she was nowhere to be seen.
'They're together. The truth is pretty harsh. But I have to accept it. '
My lips pursed. I was feeling suffocated. I walked out of the class.
"They're looking good together."
"Yeah, look at the passion and heat between them. They're barely covered, " Giggles!
"Yes! Yes! Now give my phone back to me. Samantha trusts me and has sent her private pictures with Dastien while making out. I should keep them under lock."
My feet rooted to the spot as I stared at them. My inside clenched painfully at her words.
"Hi, Emma. Wanna see something very, very hot!" Her friend, I didn't know her name, perhaps, Macina mocked me, they all giggled, staring at me.
'He'll play with me. I knew it.'
I balled my hands into fists. Before I do something stupid I needed to go. I couldn't fight them. Instead of punching in their faces, I forced myself to take steps away from them.
I slammed the door behind me. The brave mask fell off. A shaky breath left my lungs. I felt cold all over as several emotions rattled me.
He kissed me and now he was sleeping with his ex... no! He was making a fool of me. She was his girlfriend, she's his girlfriend, his mate.
'He's the king of shifters. Why will he have the destiny to become my mate? I'm just a human.'
Tears gathered in my eyes. I blew a breath out of my nose to stop them. The pain in my chest was so immense that I couldn't stop them from falling. I wanted to move but could move.
'Why wouldn't he want me over her? I'm just a human in his eyes. Nothing. She's everything. He would have wanted her to be his wife. Definitely, I'm not that. '
I shook my head and forced myself to move. I strode into the washroom and splashed cold water over my face. I wasn't going to cry for him.
' It's the weekend. After tutoring Sisley, I'm going. Where? I don't know. But I'm going. Far away from him. Two days! I'll find a new job and I'll never see his face again. It hurts so much. It won't be easy but I'm doing it. He just can't toy with me. I should sense the deception. I'm not a weak girl, a fragile flower. F*** off! King!
I wanted to do anything to spare the pain his deception has installed inside me. I knocked on the door. Daniel opened the door, "You're early," He said, his eyes roaming over my face.
I lowered my chin. My hair would help me to hide my expressions, pain.
"Yeah, I can come later." I turned.
"Emma, I'm taking Sisily out. I was sending my enforcer to inform you." He said.
"Oh, say her hello." I began my pace, not looking back
' I'm hurt, angry and overthinking everything.'
"Emma," Her voice came, aggravating me.
' I have not felt so much anger before, I almost want to strangle her. She'd kill me before I made a move.'
"Feeling so bad. Why?" Her voice was telling me she was so happy.
I glared at her. Her smile didn't waver and she laughed her head throwing back, "You must have heard my amazing, hot, s**y night with Dastien." She closed her eyes when said his name, "I can show them to you too,"
I barely held myself hitting her smiling face. I trotted away from her. My anger was maddening me. I turned to the iron door.
I gave a quick shake of my head. Before I turn into a lunatic, mad woman, I need to leave this academy. I clenched my hands
' I need some air. I need to go away.'
Seething! I strode out toward the door. I wasn't certain I would hold myself from hitting them if they'd tried to stop me. Luckily, they didn't. I didn't break stride and kept walking.
A few hours later, the sound of crying filled my ears. my tears were unstoppable, my anger was coming out in the shape of tears. If I were a werewolf I would have torn Samantha apart and Dastien too, for playing with my emotions.
I was far away from the academy. Debris road. I thought it would have been repaired. It couldn't be that path.
'Two days! I'd find a new job. I'd be away from him. Why does it hurt so much? My tears are unstoppable. I clenched my hands. I want to shout out of my lungs. Shouldn't I go back and demand answers?'
I tried to breathe from my mouth, my chest was getting tight.
"Emersyn," My feet froze, my stomach tightened, my head jerked back. Something stirred, intrigued by the rich scent of the forest, fresh water and the darkly dominant air around me, I didn't need to turn and look.
He inhaled, as scenting the air around him, his gaze raked over my face full of tears tracks. He wasn't alone. Daniel, Alessandro, Carlos and Jasper were with him.
My eyes narrowed at him. I was feeling relieved too. I hated these feelings. I shouldn't forget what he did.
I started to pace again, "Stop," His voice was full of authority.
"Sisily is waiting for you," Daniel said.
' I'm quitting.' But I couldn't say it. I whirled to go as far as I could run away from them. I clamped my mouth tight. I didn't wanna talk, it would get worse.
"Emma, what happened? You can tell us," Carlos stepped forward.
A growl left his throat, making me jump. I stared at Dastien.
"We're friends. You can tell us." Jasper said.
"I have no friends," My voice cracked. I began to sob again.
"Silver and Elizabeth are returning soon. We can't help if you..." Alessandro began.
I put my hands over my ears, "Get out of my sight before I kill him or myself," I snarled, crying.
' I don't know. Where did this rage come from within me? But I'm certain I won't give up so easily if I get in a fight with them. '
"Bébé, calme-toi. We can talk. D'accord?" Dastien said, striding closer to me.
"There's nothing to talk about. Go! F*** your b****!" I sobbed hard, running to the opposite side.
I couldn't run far when his arms curled around me, "Chérie, Shh!" His voice soothed the pain in my chest, forcing the rebellion of my feelings down, my breathing come and go easily. What was he doing? It was working. I could feel his energy surrounding me.
I hit the back of my head over his chest, "Leave me," I felt the anger again, "How could you do this? I'm not strong like you. Doesn't mean you will treat me..." I hiccupped, "Your promised mate must be waiting for you. Just leave me," I struggled in the circle of his arms, shouting.
"S'il vous plaît, dites-moi ce qu'il en est," I couldn't understand. Recalling their talk was increasing my anger.
I pushed away from him, "F*** off!" I yelled at him. My stupid tears were still running down.
I stilled. His green eyes glowed, then flashed like a burning fire. I gasped, looking down at his hands. The fire was surrounding his hands and then his entire body. It was impossible. My heartbeats were reminding me that the sight was genuine.
Alessandro held my hand to pull me away from him.
Dastien growled loudly. His teeth bared at him.
Alessandro stepped back immediately, leaving me in front of the most ruthless and furious fire wolf.
He took a long stride, closing the distance in a blink. The fire around him wasn't burning me. I was feeling the heat but enough to endure by my skin. He lifted his hand. My eyes widened. I should be freaking out. His touch was calming my nervousness, anxiety, fear..... indeed he was controlling everything.
I gulped when his finger lay against my cheek. I should burn in the fire. I was feeling only warmth, but all the plants were burnt around us, the land. It was nothing but dark and full of ashes. Instead of leaving a burnt scorching mark behind him, his touch tightened my stomach, heating my body with desire.
He smirked darkly, "I claim you or not, you live with me or afar. You're mine," His voice was strong, full of command. My inside shivered.
I struggled to look away. He's burning with fire. It's not hurting him, me. Impossible. He's talking about the claim over me.
I blinked, hoping it would fade away. Everything was the same. My gaze stopped on his chest. Tears polled in my eyes.
Is everything he said true? It's horrible. But I can't stay away from him, it's the fact too.
My body limped in the ring of his arm. The darkness engulfed me.
My eyes opened with a jerk. I wanted it to be some kind of dream. He was burning into the fire but he wasn't burning. It was confusing and scary.
Their backs straightened, watching me. Alessandro pushed away from the wall. He didn't come near to me,
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to shout at you all. " I glanced at Alessandro, Jasper, Carlos and Daniel.
"I wanted to know. Why did you do this?" Alessandro shook his head.
"You scared me, " Carlos said, closing his eyes.
"What inspired you to do all this?" Jasper demanded.
Tears clogged my throat, "He's sleeping with Samantha," I breathed out. My words were a low whisper. I lifted my lashes and stared at their shocked faces, "Alex, where's he?" Tears began to roll down my cheeks remembering.... what he did.
I sensed him, his scent filled the room, engulfing me, comforting me. He looked at me holding calmness in his forest green eyes.
Emotions clogged my throat. I patted the space next to me on the single bed, I didn't break my gaze. He didn't miss a second. Using his long strides, he sat down.
