I stared at Silver. She was truly a beauty with snow White skin, white-blonde hair, pink thin lips, icy blue eyes. She was looking at me with begging eyes. I snorted and looked away.
'Why does my forgiveness matter to her? She must try to do something else. Like! Kill me. I won't trust her ever.'
Laughter filled the air. My attention diverted to them. The handsome boys from the table. I got discharged from the hospital one hour ago.
Shock still could be read over my features that I was sleeping for a week. How did the werewolf girl do this? She seemed close to my age but stronger than me, too strong.
We sat around the campfire. I had experienced this before. Jasper offered me a beer. Daniel hit him on his biceps, "She's sick, man." He drawled and grabbed the beer from him and took a long swing from it.
Isn't alcohol banned or injurious to their health?
I shrugged my shoulders with a twist on my lips. I wasn't going to drink. I never had the money for this. I could feel the warmth of the fire but I couldn't hold the chill running down my body. Something seemed missing. I couldn't put it in words. A part inside me was nagging me, pushing me to the edge. I couldn't put it in words. I could feel it deep inside me. The nagging feeling was increasing. My gaze was looking for something but I didn't know, what?
"I'd like to make a toast," Daniel held his hand up, clenching his beer.
They looked perfect in all ways. They filled the empty place of a brother in my life.
"You shouldn't come between them." The girl who banished me from her table, spoke. I forgot her name.
I was ignoring her from the start. It was better than sitting near Silver. She scared me.
I looked at her. Her lips were thinned. She was also clenching the beer but it was full, "Are you talking to me?" I asked her.
She crushed her eyebrows together and then rolled her eyes, "Yes, I'm talking about Silver and Ales, the headmaster. You were hanging out with him." Her smile was seductive when she said his name.
Perhaps Silver attacked the wrong person that day.
"I wasn't hanging out with him." I protested.
"They are. True mate," She looked at Silver. The look she gave her. I could tell. She didn't like Silver. We could have been friends if she hadn't attacked me, "Never! I'm repeating for you. Never come between mate. They are very very very dangerous. Particularly, when you're just human." Her lips wrinkled as she pressed them together and glanced at me with unapproved eyes.
"Mate? Is this..." I drifted my eyes around.
"It's more than s**. Like, made for each other in heaven, forever. Forever. We're possessive about our mate. You have seen the demo." She gestured at my chest.
I recalled every single word in my mind, "Like husband and wife." I blinked. It was interesting.
Is Silver his wife? Can be! I don't know.
"Almost. More than that. But we don't apart. It would kill you. You humans! Can't understand." She said as I wasn't supposed to be between them. They were superior. They were stronger, no doubt. Her words were taunting.
My throat was clogged. My father left my mother when she needed him most, she was ill. He didn't look back, didn't try to find out about us.
"Are you in pain?" A warm woollen shawl wrapped around my shoulders.
I looked up at Silver. Her expression was worried. I was cold. My eyes were teary, "Thank you, I should go back to my room." I murmured, breathing out.
Silver stepped back from me and stared at her, " Are you teasing her, Neha?" She glared down at her.
"No," Neha panicked.
I stood up and felt everyone's eyes on me. I turned to Daniel and Jasper, "Good night," I smiled. I could only hope my watery eyes wouldn't betray me.
Jasper looked at Silver before returning his gaze on me and nodded.
"We're out. If you need anything." Daniel said in his deep voice.
I nodded, "Thank you," I caught both handsome men's eyes on me, worried.
"Sweet dreams, sweetie," Neha smirked. I could see her fear in her eyes as her gaze turned to Silver.
"You too," I turned away from the fire. Neha's explanation was disturbing.
'Werewolves are better than us. They value each other.'
I had never heard from him since. It nearly killed my mother, she wasn't herself anymore. It left me feeling helpless. I tried to do everything in my power.
I stared at the hallway. I didn't want to go in yet. I turned away and took a strange path.
'I'm hoping to find my father one day and demand answers. I don't expect honesty. He left us. What could be worse than this? '
I walked toward the lawn, away from the troop of students sitting around the bonfire in a circle.
I wasn't heeding my surroundings and kept on pacing. I didn't try to hold back my tears. A rustling sound behind me stopped me in my tracks. Barely, it had been five minutes since I was walking. I didn't want Silver to chase me.
I twirled. My heart was beating in my ears thinking of Silver hurting me again. I let out a slow breath when I spotted a black werewolf and his Forest green eyes on me.
A smile crept over my face, "It's you. I thought..." Silver was in my mind. I shouldn't come out at night like this when Silver had tried to kill me by attacking me openly.
He just stared at me before looking around frantically. He growled softly looking at me again.
He's a giant, beautiful werewolf. I wish! He can talk.
"Are you upset that I'm wandering out? It's not allowed. I guess." I said as it was only us.
He drifted toward me. My gaze turned to his strong long legs, large paws, and the thick coat of fur. I could only see his hind legs because it was dark. He was the biggest wolf I had seen. He was taller and stronger than the others.
I got on my knees to have a better look at him. His eyes were beautiful, forest green, the same as I remembered. His eyes narrowed.
Gosh! Did he really do that or I'm seeing things?
I stilled when he drew his face closer. My eyes were on his razor-sharp teeth. I should be frightened, that he could tear me apart in seconds. I shouldn't ignore the warning. I could hear the low growl rumbling through his throat.
He sniffed or what. I couldn't comprehend. I closed my eyes when he nudged his nose on my cheek
Shocked, I glanced at him, "I'm not crying." I smiled. I lifted my hand.
Can he really see my tears?
He growled again. He moved away from me and looked back at me. I was trying to make sense of his demands.
"You can shift back. That would make talking easy." I said.
I want to see him. He must be very handsome.
He shook his head. Sighing, I got on my feet and turned to walk away. I jumped back and panic rose in my chest. The black werewolf jumped in front of me, blocking my path.
My breathing turned shallow. He bared his teeth, making me gulp. I stepped back. He was looking at the path I came from.
"You want me to go back?" I asked.
He nodded immediately and began to walk on his four legs. I followed him silently, but my eyes were trained on him. It was common, a werewolf on the walk. Still, I did not want anyone to see us together.
He halted In front of my door. I knelt next to him. He was looking at me calmly. I put my arms around his neck. It was so relieving I couldn't explain, "Thank you," I pulled myself back and took out the card key from my pocket.
I unlocked the door and got in. I wanted to look back. But one part of me stopped me. That part which did not want anyone to repeat what Silver did to me.
My fingers found the switch and I turned the light on.
My gaze caught a letter on the floor, two feet ahead of my feet. I bent and grabbed it, "Mr Wolfe," Was he furious that I couldn't teach his granddaughter for a week. I opened it immediately and read it. I smiled while inhaling. He wasn't firing me. He wanted to join me from tomorrow evening. Meaning, I was joining my classes too.
I walked over to the mattress and placed the letter on the nightstand. I slid under the cover and wasn't bothered to switch off the lights. I closed my eyes.
