The Gang Leader's Obsession

Chapter 125

Ch. 125 / 185 Jun 03, 2025

WHITE LION'S POV

"I am surrounded by idiots." I exhaled, a soft sigh escaping from my lips.

I sounded too calm, more solemn than I actually felt. But throwing tantrums were not my thing, as a leader I had to remain calm always.

Although, the usual fiery rage that would soar within me when my people displayed weakness, a lack of thought and strategy didn't really coerce me right now, it wasn't completely invasive.

I was surprised at this, the almost apathy I was feeling.

Maybe it was because of Mira, most definitely it was Mira.

I had spent so much time with her this morning and it was most beautiful. More beautiful that I had ever imagined it to be just like every moment I spend with her. With the love of my life.

She had let me in in ways she never had before, and she had stayed by my side as a true queen should.

Even slept over with me on the same bed. That was something ethereal. Something I didn't think would happen so soon.

In my sleep I had been overwhelmed by a silent peace and I had wondered why my demons had not tormented me, but of course they couldn't as she had been there.

My love.

My plans were working maybe not accordingly, but of course it wasn't a total failure yet. I could not let it fail either.

My eyes darted over the map on my table again as I felt a certain chill run down my spine.

My office was lit with only a small candle on my table and on a small wooden holder by the door opening.

I did not fancy light when I worked. It was bad for my eyes, darkness, but I never seemed to want to let it go.

It had become a habit to want things that were dangerous to me just like I was.

Comfort brought with it delusion of happiness and happiness was hardly attainable.

Except such happiness was Mira.

Mira who I hoped I could protect from it all.

My mind drifted to her to again and it probably shouldn't have because whenever I started to think of her I just couldn't let go of her thoughts.

She was a beautiful addiction, one that I was so willing to submit to no matter the danger that it would cause me or her.

It was selfish of me. My love was selfish and cruel but it was as pure as the ocean tide in a locked desert.

I knew that I would protect her both from the seen and unseen danger, me being the known danger.

But I never would have thought that I would tell her my name, lest of all take a bullet for her.

I was smitten so badly. So goddamn into her had I become that she was the only peace in my stormy mind now.

In my stormy mind filled with plans that should be hatched, the ones that had failed and the ones that had been overlooked.

I could only wish that my mind was as empty as my table which was covered with only a small map I had my face buried in.

I needed to be put a stop to most of my rage before I looked up at them. My eyes could read nothing, should read nothing.

A shiver ran down my skin as a gust of wind rushed through the window almost quenching the candle on my desk.

The night was cool as the open windows brought with it a version of chill that was subduing, yet it could not quench with ease the fury in my heart as my mind thought about the stupidity everyone had engaged in today.

Anger again seared in my veins when I thought about the things that had gone wrong in just a day of my absence.

Competence was something I loved. I abhorred incompetence especially when I had given one the means to do better. The order for it.

But lately it dawned on me that without my presence everything in the gang might just go to shit.

First, I had to tell everybody everything. I mean the doctor almost operated on me yesterday with my goddamn contact lens on, if he wanted to get me blind that I could not tell.

And to worsen it he had come later than expected in the morning.

Thankfully Mira was not with me when I woke up or how would I have explained the sudden change of color of my eyes.

I was to drag his dead body out of the hospital when he almost called me Lion, but the damn man had knelt down to beg for his life using his mothers suffering as an excuse.

Mothers were my soft spot so I let him live. Mostly because I didn't have my gun and my thoughts were filled with her.

Mira was sure the only person with a working brain around me.

To make matters even worst three of my men had gone and gotten themselves shot in a siege that I had very well trained and prepared them for.

Marcus was present and he had let it happen and that was exactly what pissed me off the most. How could he lead the gang in my absence if he couldn't do anything of note without my presence?!

The only reason why I wasn't lashing out in him was because of the words of my father imprinted in my memory warning me to always calm the fuck down.

And Mira... Her eyes were there in my head. Just one thought of it quenched the fire in my veins and there was sure a lot of flames.
