My mum pressed the horn immediately we got to the Parish house.
A short fat man in his mid forties came in sight, his head protruded out of a small space in the gate.
It made me laugh how his face came out as.
He opened the gate for us after peeping through the small hole and affirming that we were of no danger to the chaplaincy.
The big gate opened, quietly moving to the left.
I think it was controlled by a remote.
We sat in silence as my mum drove in.
I was the first to break the silence.
"This place is really nice." I say.
As we drove into the compound, the house came more in sight and it was breathtaking.
I know most parish house's are really nice but this one is exceptional. The place could simply be summarized as Nigerian's Vatican city. But I didn't expect less. The Paris was in ocean wave after all.
The house was a two story massive building with large windows and tiled floor. It had a garden on both sides and a tiled space in between that served as the road.
My mum also shared the look of amazement that I had in my eyes.
The statue of saint Monica stood in front of the compounds second gate. "Laudate dominum" was boldly written on the roof top in italics.
"The place is breathtaking for a church." My mum mumbled a small smile on her face. "You see I always give you the Best, Mira"
"Oh please mum." I say rolling my eyes. "I will buy a house bigger and better than this, thank you"
"Young lady I didn't raise you up to be extravagant." She threw her head back laughing. "Don't worry when you graduate with a First class I will get you a house bigger than this."
"Can't I negotiate the first class thing." I say pouting.
"No."
"Why?" I whined. We both laughed out.
My mum packed her car in the car pack when we reach the main building. A white range rover 2017 model and black Highlander 2018 model were packed close to our car.
"Ok who owns this babies." I mutter to myself. Recently I started falling in love with cars, one day I'll learn how to drive really fast and maybe start a car race or join one.
From afar the house is beautiful, up close it is amazing.
My mum and I got down from the car and she took my hand in hers and side by side we walked to the door where a man stood smiling nervously at us. His hands were tucked in his trousers.
The man is tall, very very tall and huge no scratch that he was fat Like fat. A walking giant, maybe he is from the lineage of Goliath.
He's cheeks was so chubby and his face was covered with big pimples.
I felt a bit sorry for him.
The only thing good about him was his pointed nose and grey eyes. If not he was a turn off.
He reminded me of someone. Someone who was initially a turn of to me but turned around to be everything.
I swallowed.
Anger, pain, anguish and sadness were just a little bit of what I was feeling as I stared at the man standing before me. I instantly hated him for reminding me of someone I wanted so much to forget.
I clenched and unclenched my fist as I took in deep breaths. I had to control my emotions. I didn't want to go back to having a therapist invade my thoughts.
I took in a deep breath and spoke.
"Ehm mum let's ask him where the priest is instead of having a stare down competition with him."
The man for some reason couldn't get his beautiful eyes off me. His eyes were so beautiful.
My mum nods and we walk to him in steady but confident steps.
"Good day, we have an appointment with the priest. My name is Amelia and this is my daughter Mira, he's expecting us and we will like to see him." My mum explains to the giant standing at the door.
He was blocking the entrance so I couldn't take a peep inside the house. Lord have mercy, he was so big. He looked like many bags of cement in one.
He glances at the both of us and watches us with kin interest.
He looks at my mother with amazement then he looks at me like I was some fucking goddess. I blushed and smiled.
" I'm.. I'm.. The priest." he stammers. blinking. Oh my fucking gosh.
Someone call the ambulance I'm going to have a heart attack I'm going to die. He can't be the priest.
"Hmmm!" was the only thing I could mutter.
"Reverend Father Mario Jose Daniel_" he said stretching his hands. My mum took it smiling.
"Its my pleasure father, I'm sorry I didn't know you were the priest." my mum apologizes. "My sincerest apologies Father."
Jose did not reply, he simply nodded and with that he ushered us in, not before he took another glance at my direction.
"How was the journey. I hope it was fine?" He asks turning back to glare at us, his baritone voice cut through my thoughts. He was talking to my mum but he was looking at me.
"The journey was good, better than I expected." my mum replied.
He nods.
I looked around the parlour with interest.
The sitting room was huge, and amazing to say the least. The whole place was filled with paintings upon paintings and sculpture upon sculpture. The rug was first class expensive and an 80 inches plasma tv the type I had in my room back home was hung on the wall.
There was a glass diner at the far corner of the room. In fact the designer did a really good job.
The walls were painted white, with white sofas and black rugs. A spiral step was at the left side of the parlour that's were he climbed and we followed behind him.
There was a huge door just as we reached the top of the stairs, father Jose pushed the door open nervously. We were on the second floor.
The library was the first room upstairs, It was at the right hand side. A huge sign was placed in front of the door.
Do not disturb
Seeing how the priest stuttered and blushed when he saw us I could tell immediately that he was introverted.
Although I was no longer a fan of introverts I could manage.
