The next day I didn't go to school which would definitely tell on my studies.
International relations was really not a course that allowed you to skip classes plus my lecturers were of the habit of having marathon lectures for reasons that were best known to them.
I didn't want to study law anymore, it reminded me of the man who betrayed me, lied to me and left me.
I hated him and I loved him with every single blood in my vein, and even though my therapist believed that thinking he was alive was a coping mechanism I knew he was alive and he would come back to me.
I had a good memory though so I knew that I could always pass my exams in flying colors.
I switched off my phone because the calls from my friends were getting too much. I had over ten missed calls from Adrian my boyfriend, and my two best friends Yvonne and Zara.
My phone remained off the whole day so I could focus on moving all my things from my apartment to the parish house. I didn't want to be distracted because a lot of my things were really expensive.
Father Jose had his mouth wide open when he saw all the boxes I brought to my room.
I left my TV and my fridge for my landlord. My landlord and his wife had been very nice to me and I loved their two kids. Two identical cute male twins with curly hair, big brown eyes and beautiful chocolate skin. I bought lots of sweets for the twin and left them some other presents.
My mother employed five workers to help with arranging my room even after father Jose had objected saying he and his workers would help me instead. My mother insisted that the workers she was going to employ were very good and she didn't want me to be stressed neither did she want to stress him.
Indeed the workers were super good just like she had said. By evening my room had been arranged so much so it looked like I had been living here the whole time
My shoe shelf, wardrobe, underwear locker, everything was in place. They even washed the bathroom which was already clean.
I could see my reflection in the tub.
I stood around giving others but that stressed me out so much.
After resting a little I decided to take my bath and freshen up. I tied my long hair into a messy bun and brought out my music box which had a memory card of its own. I put it on and increased the volume to the loudest, forgetting that I was no longer in my apartment.
Bad habits they say die hard.
Even after realizing how wrong it was to put on loud music in the parish house I couldn't bring myself to stop playing the music_not when the songs drowned a certain baritone voice in my head calling me Reina.
I took off my clothes and walked naked into the bathroom while humming to lil Wayne's song, 'I got no worries'
I loved the duck toys that floated on the water. It made me feel like a child again. I savoured each moment as I dipped myself in warm water and lavender.
I sat up on the tub so I could pour myself a glass of wine.
I had sneaked in wine from my apartment over to the parish house.
My mum doesn't know I now drink and with the way she talked about me to father Jose I knew Jose expected me to be the saintlest of all saints
I didn't care what he thought about me though, the only opinion that really mattered to me was my family's opinion and I didn't want to disappoint them. I was remaining sane only for them.
I sipped the wine slowly, savouring its bitter sweet taste. I closed my eyes and relaxed against the tub as the alcohol kicked in.
I remained in the bathroom for about thirty minutes, cleaning up and washing my hair.
It was when I stepped out of the tub that I remembered I forgot my towel on my bed.
Shaking from the cold I walked naked to my room, water kept dripping from my body and wetting the rug, I sighed.
I was about picking up my towel when my door slowly creaked open, I grabbed the towel hastily covering myself. Looking back I narrowed my eyes at the intruder.
Father Jose stood there mouth open, eyes wide, face flushed. He looked down at his feet like a child caught stealing meat from the pot in the middle of night when he should be asleep.
"I'm sorry,..... the.... music .....was .....loud and .....I wanted ....to ask if you were hungry.... and wanted to e...at eat eat something I'm... sorry I didn't think you were... Were.. I. Sorry.. Its just." He was stammering and stuttering at the same time.
I suddenly remembered when I used to like shy men like Peter. But now I was drawn to confident men. Men who could fight, who knew just what they wanted and took it just like white_.
"Well leave! I'm not hungry leave! And next time don't enter a girls room or anybody's room at all without them giving you the go ahead to come in. That's you invading their privacy!" I snapped.
"I'm sorry forgive me." He whispered, gently closing the door behind him.
I took in deep breaths to calm myself.
I hated feeling angry, it drained me of strength.
Jose's words sipped into my mind after I had calmed down.
I realised that the music was actually too loud and I was no longer in my apartment. This was a parish house, and the music was deadening. To make it worst I had played "good kisser" by usher loud enough for him to hear it.
Talk about awkward and not being fair. What if the music turned him on. He may be a priest but he still had blood in his veins.
I realised that his knuckles were a bit red meaning that he must have been knocking for long. It was his house and he was letting me live in it and I was rude to him. I was wrong to have spoken to him like that and I was sorry. I decided that I was going to apologize to him first thing tomorrow morning.
I felt as if I had betrayed Scar but I quickly pushed the thought aside and fetched my pill. Even though my therapist had advised me to embrace the pain I had chosen to ignore it, to subdue it with drugs
