WHITE LION'S POV
Mira's brown eyes. Her smile especially when I teased her. Her full lips. Her daring, resilient nature. She could be a baddie and a softie and she was all mine. All mine.
A smile involuntarily crept up my face just thinking about her lips, and I knew that it was time to speak.
The storm in me was now calm.
"To say that I am disappointed in you Marcus would be an apparent understatement." I spoke, finally looking up at them.
The prodigies that I was training to take over from me.
I was so sure of their talents, of their relentlessness, yet they were working overtime to prove me wrong and that did not just sit well with me.
Together they would be a force if they just put emotions aside.
On one hand was Marcus who was smitten with Sophia and on the other hand was Sophia who had her face buried on the ground because she never really learnt how to meet me in the eyes when I was mad at her.
A dangerous circle we were all entrapped in and I was aware of it, but it was no reason to affect business.
Feelings were primary but that which is secondary should also be taken care of.
Especially one of this magnitude when real life's were at stake.
I glared at them taking in their rather simple attire of jeans and shirts and belated faces.
Of course they knew of my lack of approval of their recent actions as I was no hider of disapproval.
Marcus tried to look at me but failed woefully. His eyes were buried on the painting above my head and I knew that. I knew of all the deceptions that played in his chocolate innocent face.
Deception! I was the king of it all and they were trying to play my game. Something I did not quite like to say the least.
Marcus was starting to lose touch gradually, the both of them were and the fact that I wasn't yelling didn't mean I would encouraged it.
"The Both of you would look at me while I speak to you and not behave like kids!" I growled, feeling their lack of courage to face me more disappointing.
"Does this gang matter look like a joke to you both?!"
Their eyes immediately shot up to mine, fear in them.
Granted I could be quite unpredictable when enraged, but they were two of my most trusted and I could not end their life's without good cause of course.
I stood up from my seat and slowly walked around the table, stopping only when I was in front of them.
"What is the problem? This is not what I expect from you both. This gross negligence, gross incompetence, lack of strategic placements. Your actions would be of devastating consequence to us all." I said, through clenched teeth.
"It was an honest oversight." Marcus blurted out, "We were taken by surprise."
"Since when does someone take you by surprise Marcus?" I asked, walking to him.
"Answer me!" I bellowed, my voice piercing the quiet night like a heavy thunder.
I could hear his rapid heartbeat in my head as he tried to cough out an answer.
His eyes focussed on mine a prey waiting for the attack of a close by predator.
He was alert very much so, but if I did want to take him down there were a hundred ways to do so.
He was my prodigee after all and I was the prototype.
I swiftly moved to him and grabbed him, my fingers dug into his shoulders as I bent down so that I was at an eye level with him now.
"Since when does anyone surprise any member of this gang?!" I spat.
"You are a Kings right hand Marcus you have to act like one. I don't always have to be there. Keep your fucking eyes to the ground. This town is our territory. We are not to be beaten in our Land"
Marcus swallowed, "I'm sorry..."
"Jega informed us that you were shot and that's what destabilized the gang alright." Sophia interjected with a shaky voice. "Maybe if you didn't..." Her voice trailed off when my eyes met mine daring her to spill words that would infuriate me even more.
She had better keep shut if she was in anyway trying to imply that me being with Mira was the reason for their incompetence!
When it comes to Mira I lose my mind and she knew that.
I let Marcus go and faced her squarely. "And that is why I have a second in command, what happens to me should not have to stop business!"
"But.."
"Be quiet Sophia!" I said through clenched jaw. I walked over to the window as the night held promise of good things hidden within dark hearts filled with anger and rage.
The moon radiated almost fully sending a wave of eagerness down my spine as I uprooted from the depths of my mind such promises of good things.
"This matter has stretched for far too long." I spoke turning around and walking back to them. "Nelson has been a thorn in our flesh."
"Senator Nelson is well equipped and dangerous, surely you didn't expect taking him down will be so easy." Sophia was saying, but my eyes were on Marcus.
"You know what we are?" I asked Marcus, locking eyes with him.
"The blackness that swallows every others." He replied. I could see his resilience storm up back to his form.
His taste for blood almost physical, the Marcus I knew was coming back.
I patted his shoulders and gave him a wry smirk. "Prepare yourself for tomorrow my friend for again we are going to War! And this time they would not be prepared, for when a man wins a battle he begins to nurse some bloated over confidence as my dad would say- sometime you have got to play into a man's ego to make the fall sweet and unexpected." My smile widened as the thought of a new plan started to unfold within my mind.
Indeed every disappointment is a blessing.
Marcus held my shoulders and I pulled him to me so that his ears were just in my reach, "Show her that you can be King, that you can rule." I whispered in his ears.
"I'm sorry friend but you will always come first in our missions." Marcus whispered back and I let him go.
"And that is why you will always be by my side." I smiled. "Your loyalty is to me very essential."
