Scar was rushed to a private hospital, one of the best in town, Evergreen clinic.
We had to bring him through the back door as the doctor insisted on it.
His reason was that he didn't want other patients to see a shot Scar since a police report must be gotten before a bullet wound is treated, and he was doing it without one.
I didn't even care for his reason, more so because it sounded stupid since the DPO was already with us.
All I wanted was the bullet out of Scar's back immediately so I swallowed my thoughts along with my exhaustion, anger and fear.
Scar was rushed into the emergency unit even though he walked into the hospital, weak and panting of course.
I had been by his side all the way to the unit and our eyes had locked before the doors shut behind him.
I stood outside the door waiting for him as my heart took a dive for the bottom of the sea of fearful emotions.
The DPO who had helped with carrying Scar into the hospital left to take the robbers to Jail where they belonged informing an indifferent me that I would have to make a statement to the police tomorrow.
I hated hospitals so much that I didn't think I could stay for the sake of my own life except I was unconscious, but Scar was worth more to me than my life.
My hands were shaking as they brought in three men into the emergency unit.
They were bleeding all over, their shirts soaked in blood. Their wailings pierced my heart and sent it into an overdrive.
I heard from the nurses talking around the wide hallway that they were involved in some kind of accident although I suspected that there was more to it.
I closed my eyes so tight it hurt, I hated the sight of blood so much and seeing this could cause me nightmares which I really didn't want.
I felt pity for them and I prayed that God would make them well again, whoever they were.
I looked over to the iron three seaters chair opposite the door of the unit, craving rest but knowing that I was weigh too anxious to indulge in it.
Tears stung my eyes as I leaned my back on the wall. A part of me knew that Scar would be fine and hence I didn't need to worry much, but another part of me the one I was more inclined to follow just wanted to be in distress for it knew that I was the reason why Scar was fighting for his life now.
His love for me might be his doom and I didn't know what to think about that.
I couldn't stay away from him though. He wouldn't let me leave and he wouldn't let me die.
I closed my eyes and let a stray tear fall down my eyes which shook my entire being and caused my mind to collapse in exhaustion.
The sound of my phone ringing forced me out of my solemn thoughts as my eyes flew open.
I dug my hands into my jean pocket and took it out.
My mum's number flashed on the blue screen and I exhaled a breath of relief as I clicked on the green button.
"Mum are you OK?" I asked, pressing the phone to my eager ears.
"Of course. Where are you? I've been packed outside the gate waiting for you. Where did you go? Are you with the police?" My mom asked, sounding every bit the worried mother rather than the angry friend.
"I had to leave with the police. My friend.. Scar.. He was shot." I choked out feeling my heart constrict at the mere thought of it. "I am in the hospital with him. He saved us and it would have been unfair to let him alone."
My mum exhaled, "Don't do things like this without telling me! Where are you?!" She scolded.
"Evergreen hospital along the express." I replied.
"Mum I'm sorry..." My apology was cut short with the beeping of the phone which signalled the end of our conversation.
I sighed feeling bad about it, but knowing that the reason why my mum was angry was not necessarily because of me ,but her ex friend.
I shared the same sentiments with her and I was sure going to make Lisa pay for what she had tried to do to us, but for now my priority was Scar.
