Why do we have to wake up early? Why do we have to go school? Why can't we just sleep and watch Netflix all the day of our life's? Why do we have to work for money? Why can't money fall down from the sky like rain so that everyone would be rich and no one would have to work.
Who the fuck introduced school? that person better hope I never get to see him In the next world or I'll kill him again.
After I had finished complaining mentally about life I rolled down from the bed, scratching my eyes.
I reluctantly arranged my bed and brushed my teeth. Then after doing my morning routine I sighed and stared at the mirror for a few minutes. Deep down I didn't want to lose myself and seeing my reflection in the mirror helped remind me of who I really was.
I searched my wardrobe for something decent to wear. After what transpired between father Jose and me yesterday I didn't want to give him any more ideas by wearing something provocative.
After searching for a decent clothe for almost three centuries and half I finally settled on wearing a black long sleeved gown that stopped just above my knees.
I rushed my bath, drying and moisturizing my skin till it shined.
I didn't wear any jewelry. I decided to make up instead of wearing any.
I applied dark makeup and dark red lipstick so dark it was almost oxblood. I looked like I was on my way to a funeral, which I was, considering that I had just lost my sleep in a tragic accident called school.
I shoved my linguistic text book, my jotter, my pen and my car keys into my black hand bag.
Not too satisfied with my lips I applied light lip gloss as a final touch to my make up.
I tied my hair up in a ponytail and made several faces at the mirror. Smiling face, frowning face, serious face, intimidating face, and all other faces I was likely to make in class. When I was satisfied with how I looked I step out of the room.
I remembered what happened yesterday and how I promised myself to apologize to father Jose. I exhaled and entered the elevator. Then I pressed the Button that led to the second floor.
I assumed that father Jose would be in his library considering that it was like a haven to him, from what I observed. I knocked on the door of his library, once twice, thrice but there was no answer. "Well that's for that at least God knows I tried" I mumbled to myself although my conscience was still kicking me to apologize.
My stomach made a rumbling sound and I realized that I was hungrier than I thought.
Since I was still a little early for my nine o'clock class I decided that it won't be too bad if I took a little food before going to class.
I heard noise coming from the kitchen when I got to the last floor. It was the sound of a knife hitting the chopping board, someone was definitely cutting something.
I wasn't surprised because someone was cutting something I was rather surprised that they were still cooking. Father Jose should have eaten by now. His breakfast like every other priest should be made early just like father Jacob latest 8:00 am, but it was already 8:30 and they were still cooking. The Cooks definitely lacked discipline.
Stepping into the kitchen, I looked around oblivious of the person at the counter or rather ignoring them. The kitchen was exquisite, a masterpiece, almost as beautiful as the kitchen I had in my second house in Asaba. That kitchen caused my soon to be step dad a fortune. A fortune he didn't notice he spent.
Looking at the counter now, I saw Father Jose chopping onion, his back was turned to me and he seemed lost in thought; sad, confused, dejected.
I suddenly forgot I was supposed to apologize to him because right now there seemed to be more pressing matters like why was he the one cooking when he had workers to do that.
"Why are you the one cooking?" I asked, cocking a brow. "Good morning."
"The cook_____she is not around." He stuttered, turning to face me.
I knew he wanted to apologize for what transpired between us yesterday. I didn't let him though, I was the one who ought to apologize and I'll do that after I had solved the pressing issue on ground.
"You have two cooks! why will your cook leave home early in the morning without preparing your breakfast, Excuse me! But that's unheard of!"
To say I was irritated would be a very serious understatement, I was furious. That is not a workers etiquette and it should not be accepted. I imagined my cook leaving the house without preparing my food first or leaving without getting permission from me. I would definitely sack her.
"Don't you pay them?"
If he doesn't pay them that's the only reason or excuse they could have for being totally stupid and even that reason was still not acceptable. If you are not going to work then don't, but don't pretend to be working if you aren't.
"Yes.. Of course.. Very well I don't defraud labourers of their wages." He replied, almost immediately.
"So you pay them, what the actual fuck! Let Me tell you this you are being taken for granted, you are the boss here and you should be treated as such. Your food should be made ready for you anytime you are hungry or feel like eating even if it's every hour or every goddamn second. That's what they are fucking paid for. Now let Me tell you I'll not stand for this!" I half screamed.
