Derek
"Will you choose to be with me if I tell you that I'm the father of your Pups?"
"Oh no," I heard Donovan mutter as soon as I spoke.
Everyone was thrown into a state of shock. The entire Wayne family had their eyes on me. The look on their faces varied from disbelief, anger, hatred, and all.
Melody was busy with the contents of the envelope. She took her time going through it as if to take in the littlest detail.
"You're what?" Malfoy exclaimed.
"Did I hear that right?" Miranda batted her eyes. "Did I just hear you right?" She repeated moving to snatch the paper from Melody.
"I can explain." I dashed forward to hold Melody who immediately fell in Dorian's arms.
Oh f*ck
This seems like the wrong move.
Did I just push Melody further away?
"Wait, are you serious?" Sofia was standing between me and Melody. "Did you get Melody pregnant? How?"
She had a look of bafflement as she tried to think of the past scenarios.
"You never liked her. You were always so cold to her. So then how, Derek? How did you become the father of her kids?"
As if she suddenly realized the truth. Sofia squatted before the kids and raised their chins, carefully studying their faces.
"It's no wonder I thought they looked familiar the first time I met them. It's because they looked like you. But how? How in the goddess name did you end up knocking Melody up?"
I didn't care about Sofia's questions. I only cared about Melody and she hasn't spoken a word. She has suddenly gone mute.
"Your majesty, this is a very sensitive topic for our family and shouldn't be your way of trying to get Melody to choose you." The Viscountess said in get ever so calm tone.
Even though this was my way of getting Melody to choose me. It was the actual truth, but they all found it hard to believe.
"Exactly majesty, please do not joke with such a thing," Malcolm added immediately.
My best friend was willing to trust me even though the proof was right there before him. He chose to ignore the truth and believe in me instead.
"This is not a joke, Malcolm," I replied, taking the crown off my head.
I know that they would all have a lot to say to me now that the truth was out. However, the crown on my head, but my position as the king won't let them.
"Not a joke?" He asked, stunned. "Are you really the man who raped Melody on my father's coronation?"
"You see, that part is my fault I must say." Donovan jumped to my rescue.
He must have understood the situation and realized the need to help me.
"Really? So you knew about this too?" Malcolm's anger was now directed at Donovan.
He can't attack me as I'm the king, but I cannot say the same for Donovan.
"I cannot believe that the assh...." Malfoy paused as he realized what he was about to say. He locked his gaze with me and shook his head. "Man we've been looking for is..... you."
He spoke through his teeth, making it obvious that he was holding back a lot.
"I'm sorry," I could say nothing more.
The deed was done after all.
Besides, if I could turn back the hands of time. I would do it again. Safe for the kidnapping and raping aspect, I would have Melody over and over if I could.
"Sorry? That's all you can say?" Dorian hissed. He glared at me like he would pull off my head.
"You rejected her, then raped her. You destroyed her before and now you're ruining her wedding and all you can say is sorry?"
I wish I could say something else apart from sorry. I wish there was something I could do apart from apologizing.
Everyone from the Wayne family held me in such esteem, but now their feeling is conflicted. I could tell from the way they all stared at me.
I was badly waiting to hear Melody speak, but she stood rooted to the spot, tears trickling down her eyes.
I wish I could wipe away her tears. I wish I could replace every tear she's shed with happiness.
She was in pain and it was my fault.
She went through a lot and I wasn't there to share her pain. I wasn't there to hold her and assure her that everything would be fine.
I wasn't there to hold my pups on the first day of their lives.
I wish... I just wish I could turn back and visit the past, then I would right all the wrongs and shortcomings.
"This... Is this true?" Miranda was gutsy enough to ask that.
I mean, who fakes being a villain in their own love story?
I just threw a card I know is risky enough to make me lose the one I love forever. I can lose my mate forever just because of this. Yet, she's asking if it was true.
"All this is... Your majesty were you asked to say this just to save her some face," Viscount Maximus said, disappointing me yet again.
I wonder why he only thinks the worst of Melody.
"Maximus," The Viscountess called, sending a note of caution to her husband.
I guess she didn't want him to hurt Melody any more than she already did. Malcolm was so disappointed that he couldn't find the right words. My mother was speechless after finding out the whole truth. She only got to know how cruelly I had rejected Melody and how badly I had treated her before, plus all she went through afterwards.
My father was so busy admiring the twins that he hadn't said a word to me since things took this odd turn.
I don't know where to begin my explanation or apology to my pups, but first I want Melody to forgive and accept me.
"I'm sorry, Melody," I walked towards Melody and tried to hold her, but I was stopped by two tiny human blocks.
Sending me back with a heavy push that I staggered, they both yelled, "Stay away from my momma!"
