Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 41

Ch. 41 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Derek

"Why should I be happy when I'm sure that there won't be a wedding?"

"Huh?" Sophia was dumbfounded.

First at my tone and then at my response.

"There won't be a wedding?" She asked.

"Sure there won't," I ascertained.

"Derek, what do you mean that there won't be a wedding? What do you plan to do?"

I shrugged and walked away. I needed to act fast.

"Derek. Your majesty! Your majesty!!"

I ignored Sophia and hurried back to my chamber. I met Giovanni on my way back.

"Hi Gio," I halted and waved at my son.

"Oh, hello your majesty," he bowed.

There was something about the way he spoke that sounded like a taunt just like Melody. These two are so alike. It's no wonder they are always glued to each other.

"Where are you off to?" I asked, putting forth my hand to hold him.

"To my Momma," he stepped back before I could touch him. "She's getting married to Dorian tomorrow."

He almost couldn't retain his happiness. My son was happy to see his mother get married to someone else while I was still very much alive.

"Are you happy about it?" I chose to ask even though it was obvious that he was.

"Happy? I'm excited!" he smiled, showing me a miniature of myself.

Now, I see why my mother was so sure that they were mine.

"Dorian will become daddy," he added, fueling my rage.

My son wants to call that animal daddy. No way! I won't let that happen.

"Why do you want Dorian as your daddy?" I wanted to know why they were all so into Dorian.

What is so special about him that has made Melody and my pups love him so much? Even my sister has become his fab in such a short period. Everyone in the Wayne family sings his praise like he's some messiah.

"Dorian likes Momma and Momma likes him. He makes me laugh every time and he always helps Momma in Ma-Belle. And he tells Aaron and me bedtime stories and he gives us ice cream and....."

My blood boiled as I listened to my son list out the reasons why he wanted Dorian as his father.

I could do all of that too if I'm given a chance.

He is so taken by Dorian that the look on his face is idolised every time he mentions the man. I should be my son's idol.

He should idolize me not some idiotic Alpha.

"What if someone else were to be your daddy Instead?" I fixed my gaze on him to see his reaction to my question.

First, he frowned then wrinkled his face as if the thought of someone else as his father was disgusting. Then he shook his head.

"I only want Dorian."

Oh hell, this will be a lot more difficult than I thought.

"But Dorian isn't your real daddy."

Jealousy got the better of me and I lost my sense of reasoning. I had forgotten that I was talking to a six-year-old boy.

"Momma said daddy is there," my son pointed to the sky. "He is with the goddess."

Did Melody tell them that their father is dead?

"I don't like him," Gio continued. "He left momma alone and he stayed with the goddess. Why did he do that?"

Oh shit!

Gio hates me. My heart broke to hear my son say that he hates me. I clenched my fist and tried to hold back from shifting and dashing into the forest to howl my pain out.

"But the dead do not choose to die. Do they?"

I don't know why I felt the need to explain it to him. I mean, if he is mad at me even though he was told that I was dead, then I can only imagine what he'd do if he found out that I'm alive.

I just cannot imagine what he'll think of me when the truth of their birth comes to light.

"I don't want him. I only want Dorian."

I knew there was nothing I could do to change his mind. Dorian has a place in their heart and I will definitely make a place for myself as well.

"You can....."

"I'll take my leave now," he bowed and left before I could speak further.

He was too excited to go to Dorian. Too bad the wedding won't be happening after all.

I hurried back to my chambers to prepare for tomorrow. However, my mother was waiting for me in my chamber.

"Mother?"

I wonder why she is in my room. Has she also heard about the wedding?

"You're here?"

She stood up and met me halfway.

"The results are out," she raised an envelope for me to see.

I frowned as I tried to figure out what she was talking about.

As if she could tell that I didn't understand what she meant she unwrapped the envelope and continued explaining. "I had a DNA test carried out on you and Melody's pup."

I should have guessed. My mother was so anxious to find out the identity of those two. And even though she was certain from the beginning, she needed proof.

"And?" I asked.

"It's positive. I have two grandkids," she happily announced.

She gave the result to me, but I couldn't celebrate that because I was bothered by something else. Melody's wedding.

My mother looked at me suspiciously. "What's wrong? You don't look happy."
