Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 38

Ch. 38 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Melody

"Derek!"

I yelled at the top of my voice as his teeth sank into my neck. I screamed as the pain went into my body system.

His tongue swept across the bite and a warm sensation trickled down my insides. I felt strange.

I closed my eyes as the feeling lifted me off the ground or not ...

It felt like I was floating as the strange feeling covered my body.

"Now, you belong to me."

My eyes shot open as soon as those words travelled to my ear.

No. It can't be.

It definitely can't be what I am thinking.

No. Hell no!

Derek didn't just mark me.

"What have you done?"

I lost every sense of reasoning and slapped him, but for some strange reason, I felt a light sting on my cheek.

Goddess. Derek just marked me.

How do I explain this to Dorian?

What do I say to him?

"How dare you mark me without my permission?"

I was furious.

Derek might be king, he doesn't have the right to my life. Who did he think he was to mark me without my permission?

"I am your mate," he replied without care.

His face showed no emotion as if whatever just happened was natural. I felt like strangling this foolish king.

He is acting so smug as if the entire world belongs to him.

He treated me worse than an animal in all the years that I have known him. Not once did he ever say a nice word to me. He shoos me off at any chance he gets. After knowing that we were destined mates, he didn't change one bit, instead, he cruelly rejected me and tossed me out like garbage and now he wants me to believe that he cares about me.

Doesn't that sound like the joke of the century?

Of all the people in the kingdom, Derek chose me as his mate. It was impossible.

I need no soothsayer to tell me that he was just playing with my emotions. I won't let that happen.

"You are not my mate!" I yelled back to his face, putting his status aside.

"Now you bear my mark, Melody, whether you like it or not, you are mine now."

I yanked myself away from him and pushed him.

"Stay away from me, Derek. Far away!"

"No. I can't." He smiled. "In fact, you won't be able to stay away from me either."

The surety in his tone made me want to kill him. I have never met a bigger asshole.

"I will never forgive you for this!" I screamed as I rubbed my finger against the now itching spot.

It was itching so badly that I wanted to peel off the skin around that area.

"Let me help you," he muttered as he tried to touch me.

"Don't touch me, Derek!" I tapped his hand away before it could touch me.

"Let me ease the itchiness," He whispered.

I gaped as I watched the calm man before me. He was entirely different from who he used to be. He is no doubt a different man.

"No." I insisted, taking backward steps as he inched closer.

"Just let me," he got me pinned to the wall and positioned his mouth around my neck.

"Stop. Don't come closer." I tried to push him, but he took my hands and placed them behind me.

"Let me," he whispered and his lips touched my skin, soothing the burning sensation on my neck.

I closed my eyes as the wetness of his tongue eased the itching and burning around my neck and like magic, the pain was gone immediately.

"I told you I would take care of you."

I opened my eyes and immediately stepped away from him as realization dawned on me.

The implication of what just happened played in my mind and I couldn't help being disappointed.

Dorian wouldn't be happy about this. He doesn't deserve this at all.

"Derek, you animal!" I yelled as I dashed off. "I hate you!"

"Melody, wait!" He called after me.

I ran as fast as my legs could take me. I couldn't stand the sight of that animal. I needed to go away from him.

I didn't stop running until I was so breathless and tired that I couldn't feel my legs. I fell to my knees and let tears rain down my eyes.

I looked up at the sky, hoping to see my creator. I wanted to know why the moon goddess chose to be so cruel to me.

Why bestow me a heartless mate like Derek? She took pity on me and gave me a sweet soul like Dorian. She compensated me with two bundles of joy And just when I thought my life would be perfect, that monster, Derek had to ruin it.

He marked me for crying out loud. How could he?

If there's a villain in my life after my father, then it's Derek.

I sat on the floor and kept crying with my eyes fixed on the sky. I was badly hoping for the goddess' intervention.

If she has brought me to this point, then she must have a way to solve this.

And just like every sorrowful day in my life, the rain suddenly started to pour. I chose to sit under the rain and let out my woes.

After successfully washing off my pain in the rain, I returned to the Palace. I went to my allocated room and got a change of clothes. As soon as I was out of my wet clothes, I went straight to my mom's chamber.

I called for my brothers and Dorian. I wanted my entire family present as I shared the news.

However, as soon as I arrived in my mother's chamber I found the King right there.

What the hell is he doing here?

This is supposed to be a private discussion with my family. Why did he have to tag along?

"Mel, where were you? I searched all over for you." Dorian hugged me.

I snuggled deeper into his arms as my heart suddenly felt relieved. Every pain in my heart died as I got into his arms.

I was glad to see that he was fine and healed. He had no scratch at all. It almost felt as if the fight never happened.

I raised my head and locked our gaze, offering him a smile. "That thing you said before, Let's do it."

Dorian looked at me in amazement. He smiled and cupped my cheek before kissing me.

"Really?"

"Yes Dorian," I nodded, making sure that my voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Let's get married tomorrow."
