Melody
"Are you okay, Mel?"
Dorian set me on the bed as we arrived in my chamber.
"I'm fine," I lied.
I was far from fine. There is a constant knot in my belly which comes with a strange pain. I purse my lips to stop myself from screaming every time it hits.
"Are you sure?" Gio was holding my hand immediately.
My distress never goes unnoticed by him.
"You don't look fine. What's up with your belly?"
"I don't know. I....."
I paused as the pain suddenly hit me once again, leaving me breathless.
"Melody!" Dorian grabbed me and placed my head on his lap.
"Dorian, I can't.... I can't breathe."
I was panting. My hands and legs trembled and I could feel anger building up in me.
"Look at me, Mel, you're going to be fine."
His voice sounded from a distance even though he was so close to me. There was a strange voice in my head.
"Go away," I gritted my teeth to keep my anger at Bay. Dorian has done nothing to annoy me. Why am I mad at him?
"Mel," he called unbelievably, still holding on to me.
"I'll call uncle Malfoy," Aaron was off in an instant.
"Momma, talk to me. What's wrong with your belly?"
"I don't know," I managed to say.
I really do not understand why I was so angry and in so much pain. I was mad at everything and everyone, but for some reason I was able to keep it within, but it keeps growing stronger with each second.
"Don't close your eyes, Mel," Dorian's voice shook.
He sounded like he was about to cry. I can imagine how he must feel. Especially when he had also lost his first mate to some strange illness.
"I'm fine!"
That came out harsh even though it was meant to reassure him that I was fine.
"Momma," Gio called in surprise.
My son was probably surprised to hear me speak in that manner.
"Alone. I want to be alone." I groaned as I itched my neck.
Derek. I muttered under my breath.
I know the reason why I was feeling the way I am. These aren't my feelings. They are Derek's. I have to go through all these because of the mark.
"Animal!" I muttered out loud.
He was probably doing that on purpose. Even until now, Derek will leave no chance to torture me.
"What's wrong?"
"It's him," I whispered.
I was afraid of raising my voice at the man who was already so worried about me.
"Huh?"
He looked at me and frowned.
"It's Derek, he's doing this."
Dorian's gaze immediately went to my neck and he took my hand off it. It was itching so badly that I didn't know that I was scratching the hell out of myself.
"Really?" His finger ran through the mark and I was slightly relieved. "So this is his scheme, huh?"
"Dorian, is momma in this state because of that?" Gio pointed at the mark.
"Yeah, I think."
Dorian's fist was clenched as he spoke to Giovanni.
"So, he's doing this to her because she wanted to leave?" He was asking with all seriousness.
I could smell his fury as he spoke. His eyes were slowly switching colors.
"I'll be right back," Dorian was off in an instant.
"Dorian," I called after him, but he was gone.
"Gio, baby. Go after Dorian."
I know that I was probably making a mistake by sending Giovanni after Dorian because those two are peas from one pod.
They are alike in too many ways.
Besides, Giovanni was already furious with Derek and learning that I am in this state because of him must have fueled his rage towards the man.
However, I believe that if there's anyone who could call Dorian to order, then it's him.
"But Momma, you...." He was reluctant. He didn't want to leave me in this state.
My body was now covered in goosebumps from suppressed feelings.
"Go with Dorian, Son. Aaron will be here with your Uncle."
Gio bit his lips and stared deeply at me before running off.
Derek, you bastard! I cussed as soon as my son was gone.
I wish I could see him right now and peel off the skin around his face. I'll shove it down his anus.
"Come to me, Mel," I heard his voice in my head again.
"Get out of my head!" I yelled, pulling desperately at my hair.
My head ached and neck itches. It was a hellish feeling.
"I can ease your pain, Mel," the voice continued in my head.
How is he doing that?
Did the mark make me a member of Derek's pack?
How is he able to get in my head?
"Melody!"
Sophia rushed in with Malfoy in tow.
"What is wrong with you?"
I shook my head and tried to speak, but my body suddenly jerked. My body was drained of energy. I couldn't even speak or lift a finger.
Why is it always so bad when it comes to me?
I mean, why am I so affected by the mark to such an extent?
"She's burning up." Sophia muttered worriedly.
"Get the doctor!" Malfoy yelled for a guard.
"How did she suddenly fall sick? She was fine a few minutes ago." Sophia got cold water and dabbed my forehead.
"I think it's the mark."
I'm glad she discovered on her own how her asshole brother decides to get back at me.
"So, what do we do?" Malfoy asked, but before Sophia would reply, the door opened and Derek arrived.
He was looking all high and mighty as he approached.
"Ask her to stop resisting."
Sophia turned abruptly and snarled as Derek tried to touch me.
"Stay away from her, Derek!"
She eyed him like he was her greatest enemy.
"That was the deal, remember?"
Sophia stood strong in my defense, leaving no room for him to get close to me.
Derek clicked his tongue and scoffed.
"I never agreed to stay away from Melody. I never will."
