Melody
"Momma, you can relax now."
Aaron rubbed my fur as he spoke. His hand brushed gently through my fur, making my nerves calm.
"Yes momma, we're far from Mallory now. They can't catch up." Giovanni added as he placed his head on my body.
He could probably tell that I was furious. I want out of Mallory, my father and Derek.
I will not trade my kids for anything and my father made the mistake of wanting me to choose.
How could he?
He's committed several atrocities towards me which I could forgive, but asking me to lead my pups behind is one thing I would never forgive.
He snatched my childhood. Gave me a pain-filled life and when I finally got to be happy by being blessed with the goddess' gift to me: my pups. He wants me to leave them behind.
How could he think that?
I tried everything possible. I tried not to disrespect him. To respect the relationship we shared but he chose to abuse it.
"It's Okay, Mel," Dorian added.
I took a deep breath and slowly shifted. I was back to myself in an instant. Dorian passed me a towel and I wrapped it around myself.
I didn't realize how badly I wanted to leave Mallory until now.
With my father's insistence and Derek's persistence. I just couldn't stay there. I wanted to bring my pups to safety. I wanted to return Dorian to his pack safely.
I wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to him.
"It's okay, Mel," Dorian repeated and hugged me.
Relief washed through my raging nerves. I felt calm as I looked around to see that we were far from Mallory in the middle of the ocean.
I sighed as I felt my nerves relax.
We made it.
I was finally able to get my kids out of that hateful place.
"Momma, you were terrific!" Aaron screamed in excitement.
"And you wolf is beautiful." Giovanni smiled.
He seemed happy that I found my wolf and proud that I fended off the enemies without help.
"Thank you my lovelies," I crushed them both In a tight hug.
"You did great," Dorian winked.
He didn't look surprised by my fight even though he's never seen me combat.
"Thank you," I smiled.
'I told you we'd do great.' Joanne whined.
I rolled my eyes at her narcissism.
Dorian joined the hug and kissed my head.
It felt good to see that we could finally have the life we've always wanted.
"We'll be home soon," Dorian whispered.
I settled in his arms and he sat on the chair while the kids went off to further explore the ship. The men were also ready to indulge them.
"Can't wait." I smiled.
My heart felt free like a heavy load was lifted off my chest.
"We'll have that wedding when we get back, okay?"
Dorian couldn't wait to hold a wedding in both our names.
"I'd be delighted," I shrugged.
I lay on Dorian's chest as he whispered sweet nothings to me. He told me all he'd do to me upon our return to Dark Flame Pack.
I felt butterflies in my belly as I listened to him. There was a strange gush of unidentified emotion playing in my heart. I want to remain in his arms.
Closing my eyes to bask in the joy of being in Dorian's arms. I didn't know when I slept off. When I opened my eyes again, I was floating.
I looked slowly to take in my environment and I noticed that I was in an entirely different place. Where am I?
I tried to figure out how I got here but I just couldn't. There was nothing familiar.
"Melody."
I looked around in search of the owner of the voice, but there was no one around.
Who is calling out to me?
Even though the voice sounded familiar, I couldn't tell where I'd met the person.
"Melody."
The voice called again.
"Who are you?" I called out loud. "Why won't you show yourself?"
"Because I am you."
I looked at myself in amazement.
She is me?
Though the voice was feminine, it couldn't possibly be me. I am standing right here. So, why will I call out to myself?
"You are not me," I yelled.
"Take a look." The voice sounded close this time.
I was dumbfounded upon seeing the person. I mean it really was me. I am standing in two places.
How is that possible?
My mouth hung open.
I couldn't utter a word and when I managed to, there was only a question on my lip. "How?"
Why do I see double of myself?
"I am you and you are me," she stepped into the light and I got to see her closer.
She has my raven hair. Her hair was waist-length just like mine. Her blue eyes shone with unfathomable emotion and she looked
Is she me? Or my Doppelganger?
"What do you want from me?"
I looked around warily, taking a protective stance.
"I will not harm you, Melody," she smiled.
"Then why have you brought me here? What is this place? What do you want from me? Why do you have my face?" I bombarded her with questions.
"You woke me up," she muttered her response in a barely audible tone.
Did I wake her up? When? My head whipped in her direction.
What the hell does she mean by that?
Can someone tell me why she is speaking in parables? I just couldn't understand what she meant by that. I pursed my lips and tried to figure things out.
As if she could read my mind she chuckled and moved closer to me, making me move back automatically.
"....and now, you have to ...."
Before she could complete whatever she was about to say. My body shook and I was suddenly blinded by a strange light.
I closed my eyes briefly and opened it slowly to see that the light was gone. However, I found myself back on the boat and before I could organise my thoughts, Dorian took my hands and kissed.
"Look, Mel, we're home."
