Derek
"You love Melody?"
It's confession time and since I have finally come to terms with my feelings for Melody, I think it's time I own up to it.
I already admitted to myself that I love melody, why not say it to my mother as well?
"Yes Mother, I do," I admitted.
She squinted her eyes and stared at me for a while before speaking again. "Did you sleep with her?"
I clenched my fist as I debated within myself. It was an internal war as I decided if I should tell my mother the whole truth or just keep the secret.
"Mother, I.... "
"Don't lie to me, Derek," Mother said sternly.
I was tongue-tied. My mother definitely would not take shit from me.
"Mother...."
"It is no coincidence that Melody's pups look exactly like you. So don't give me that crap that you didn't sleep with her."
I had nothing to say but to open up to my mother.
"Mother, I didn't know how it happened, but I think I did sleep with her."
Mother gaped at me, her eyes filled with surprise as she listened on.
"How is that possible?" She Shook her head. "What do you mean by 'I think?'
"Well....."
I narrated the entire story to my mother while she studied me, taking in every detail.
"I'll have this investigated and if those kids happen to be yours; which I'm sure they are, then you have to take responsibility."
"I want to." I let out a sigh of frustration. "I want to take responsibility, but she won't let me," I confessed my fear.
If this had been the old Melody, I'm sure that it would be very easy to appease and make her understand. She will forgive and accept me without qualms, but this new version of her is savage.
She gives no damn about me or the position I hold. She loathes me. She won't let me anywhere close to them if she finds out that it was me.
"Why won't she?" Mother asked.
I thinned my lips to avoid divulging too many details. I didn't know if I should tell her that Melody was my destined mate and how I cruelly rejected her years ago just because she didn't have a wolf.
"Derek... " Mother held my gaze. "Tell me everything without skipping a single detail."
My mother can read me like the lines on her palm. She knows me too well. So, without skipping any detail, I told her everything.
"What?!" Mother exclaimed with dismay. "How could you do that?"
The look on her face told me that she was disappointed in me.
"I did that because I didn't want to disgrace you and Father. I mean, how could I, the soon-to-be alpha king choose a wolfless maiden as my mate?"
"It wasn't your choice to make, Derek. The moon goddess chose her for you. You had no right to refuse!"
Now, my mother is pissed.
I can't let her be mad at me. I went to her and tried to explain, but she wouldn't listen.
"You know what's amazing in all this?" My mother shook her head bitterly. "Melody was also my and your father's choice for you."
What?
My eyes widened unbelievably at my mother's words.
Is she serious?
Both my parents wanted Melody as my queen.
"We didn't want to force our choice on you, but who would have thought that our wish would be the goddess' wish too."
She stood up and made for the door, then she turned as she held the knob.
"I'll investigate the matter as promised, but winning Melody's heart is on you. I won't get involved."
"But Mother..."
I tried to ask for a piece of advice or something that might be helpful in my quest, but she dismissed me with a wave of her hand.
"correct your wrong, Derek. this is on you."
Mother was out of my chamber before I could say anything further. I felt drained out as I watched the door close.
The only person who could help me out has just walked out of the door, leaving me to handle my mess.
How am I supposed to right my wrong when Melody won't even give me a chance?
I lost every interest in the banquet and chose to lie down. With my hands placed under my head, I laid down on the bed facing up.
I tried to play out every possible scenario in my head. I tried to think of what to say. How do I apologize and explain myself to Melody and her family?
I became restless and couldn't stop tossing. I let out a begrudging grunt as I stood up and decided to stroll into the garden.
The cool evening breeze couldn't bring peace to my troubled heart. I kept brushing my hands on the flowers as I walked farther into the garden.
I ordered my guards and maids to keep their distance because I needed some time alone as I ventured deeper into the garden.
I was so disturbed that I didn't realize how far I had gone until I heard a soft moan.
I looked around in search of the owner of the voice which was undoubtedly Melody, only to find her...
What the hell?
My blood boiled and my eyes suddenly darkened with rage. My wolf which had been quiet in the past few days, jumped to the surface, bringing my paws to its longest.
How dare Dorian!
I dashed forward and grabbed the daring man atop my mate off. He was boldly smooching her out here in the garden. Under the moonlight.
I could have spared him and let this slide if he was only smooching her, but this fool was daring enough to want to mark my mate under my roof and in my kingdom.
"What are you doing, Derek?" Melody was so angry that she forgot to address me as king. She stood up and I got to see her half-naked body.
I can't believe that she was half-naked while Dorian was atop her.
What would have happened if I didn't come here?
Have they been doing this before?
"Cover yourself, Mel," He said as he watched me gawk at Melody.
I have every right to her body, a lot more than he does. Yet, he is asking her to cover up for me.
Hearing his calm voice and seeing the smug look on his face irked me so much that I couldn't wait to send him to hell.
I am going to kill this foolish alpha.
I dug my paws into Dorian's side and a loud cracking sound was heard. He growled and fought back, smacking my chest with his elbow.
"Your majesty," He muttered as he stepped back.
He acted as if he didn't realize that it was me before.
"Have I done something wrong?"
gosh! I hate this man.
His wilful stupidity makes me livid.
He even dares to ask if he has done something wrong.
Well, since he wants to play innocent why don't I help him out?
If announcing to everyone how I am related to Melody will keep these buzzing flies away, then that's what I will do. I don't care anymore.
I'd rather they all hate me than for me to lose Melody and my pups to someone else.
I pinned his neck to the wall and scratched his mouth, badly fighting the urge to claw out his heart.
"Do you know who you were about to mark?"
