"I never agreed to stay away from Melody. I never will."
I shrugged as I moved to go closer to my mate.
Sophia stood like a soldier fending off the bad guy. She was ready to stop me from going to Melody.
As if she could.
"Step aside, Sophia," I waved her aside.
She stood still in Melody's defense and I noticed that Malfoy was also ready to put up a fight.
Did they probably forget that I'm the Alpha king?
"Stay away from Melody," Sophia hissed. "Why won't you just understand that?"
"Stay away from her?" I scoffed.
Like, is she serious?
"She's my mate," I reminded her. "And she bears my mark."
How could they ask me to stay away from Melody?
She's my woman. My mate. The mother of my pups. She bears my mark and resides in my heart. She's the woman I spent years searching for.
How could they ask me to stay away from her after finally finding her? How is that possible?
"One given forcibly," Sophia stated.
My anger rose at her words and I growled. How is it her business how I gave the mark? What matters is that the right person bears it and that person is Melody.
"This doesn't concern you Sophia, Stay out of it!"
I dashed forward, giving no regard to whoever gets hurt. All I want is to hold Melody.
Is that so difficult to understand?
"But it concerns me," Malfoy snarled, his voice more like a snort. "Melody is my sister and it's my duty to protect her."
I shook my head and looked at the man who was supposed to be a loyal soldier in my army. How dare he think he can stop me?
"And what are you protecting her from?" I looked around in search of the said danger for which they were all protecting Melody, but I found none.
"Could that be me?"
"With all due respect, your majesty. Please do not come close to Melody."
Really? He's warning me.
Oh goddess. Malfoy is warning me.
"And if I don't?" My eyes glowed with so much rage that I could barely see. All I saw was red.
"Stop this madness, Derek!" Melody yelled. Her teeth gritted.
"I'll only put a stop to this if you come to me."
I made my intention known to her. If she won't take me with ease then she'll do it with force.
I won't back down.
"Don't force me," She raged.
I know that she must feel as much anger as I feel at the moment, because I can feel her bitterness.
"You leave me no choice." I replied, choosing to stay back and add a little spice to the fun.
I released the pain I felt every time I saw Melody with Dorian. Everytime he hugs and hold her hand. Everytime my pups go to him and look up to him. I released the anger I felt all these time into my body.
I wanted Melody to have a taste of how it feels to be tortured by what I could have had.
If after so much pleas and apology, she still chooses to be stubborn, then I don't mind using extreme measures such as this.
I feel bad everytime I see Melody writhe in pain. I was also struck with the same pain in multifold because we can feel each other's pain.
However, I knew that I had to do this for a better result.
"Why are you doing this, Derek?"
Sophia could read the lines. She knew what I was doing, but she probably doesn't know why.
I love Melody and I can't lose her.
"Let me through and she won't have to feel so much pain."
Malfoy growled and threw a punch at the wall. I bet he pictured me in that wall before throwing the punch.
The Wayne family are too honorable to have a member raise a hand against the king.
"You animal!" A strong punch from behind sent me staggering forward.
I turned to find Dorian right there breathing through his mouth. He was so furious that his eyes alone could burn a hole in anyone.
I wasn't intimidated by his fury.
"How dare you!"
I returned the punch, but he dodged it and shot another punch right at my belly.
"You're worse than an animal!"
I chuckled with pride as I saw how affected he was. Wasn't he always acting like he never get affected by anything?
I guess Melody is his bottom line just as she is mine.
"Really?" I laughed. "Isn't that what we are, Fucking animals?"
I snarled, showcasing my teeth. The indication of what we are. Just in case Dorian forgot.
"Hurt my momma and you'll have me to deal with!" Giovanni also sent me a kick.
"Don't go close to him!" Melody was up on her feet, slowly approaching. She took Giovanni away before he could kick me again.
Dorian grabbed her and steadied her by the waist.
"How do you feel?" He asked and she fell into his arms, sending a wave of rage through me. "I will be fine." She replied rather too calmly.
I expected her response to be full of anger, but it came out too sweet, making it obvious that she was resisting.
If Melody could resist so much rage,then she is stronger than we all think.
"Are you sure?" Dorian asked, but Melody mouthed something inaudible and she locked her gaze with me.
"I Melody Wayne, accept your rejection. To be forever separated from you, Derek Marvin."
No. She did not!
I felt a strange surge of emotion run through me as she said those horrible words. Something in me tore into pieces and I was rendered temporarily weak.
Melody accepted the rejection. Our bond broke. She fucking broke our bond.
"What did you do?" I yelled.
"The right thing," Sophia replied boastfully.
If she wasn't my sister then I would bite her head off.
She turned to Melody who was now hugging Dorian. They were rejoicing.
Right when I thought that things couldn't get any worse. I noticed Dorian's teeth suddenly elongate and he sent them straight into Melody's neck.
She whimpered and he leaned to lick her right there. He locked his gaze with mine as he did that, muttering loud enough for me to hear him say,
"Now you're mine."
