Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 42

Ch. 42 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Melody

"Wow momma, you look beautiful!" I turned around to see Aaron as he complimented my dress.

"Momma has always been pretty. She's an angel." Gio added.

"You two are my angels." I hugged them both, trying as much as I could to stop my tears.

I could never have imagined that a day like this would appear in my life. I mean, me, Melody Wayne. The wolfless girl of the diamond pack and the unwanted child of the Viscount would get to see this day wherein I would be dressed in an expensive wedding dress with two handsome angels in tuxedos standing on my side to protect me and a sweet and caring Alpha like Dorian, waiting to walk down the aisle with me.

"My dear, you look fabulous!" My Mother also arrived with loads of compliments. "Isn't she looking angelic?"

"She sure is," Sophia chimed in as she placed a tiara on my head. "I got this for you because you look more like a princess than I am."

"I can't take this," I refused at first, but Sophia wouldn't take no for an answer. "This is the....."

"Well, it isn't actually my royal tiara." She scratched her cheek. "I wouldn't give you a used object as your wedding gift. So I... Uh... had this made from special and priceless stones, just for you."

My eyes were immediately laced with tears as I listened to my friend. Despite how much I hate Derek, I just can't stop loving Sophia. She is my best friend and now my sister-in-law. She is one of the best things in my life.

I hugged her and kissed her cheek. "Thank you so much. For everything."

"No, save that for Dorian." She objected to the kiss. "I'm always here for you. Now and always." She returned the hug.

Even though Derek was and still is a prick, Sophia is a darling.

At the thought of Derek, I felt a sting on my neck and rubbed the spot where he had bitten me.

"Is something wrong?" Gio asked, pulling my hand.

"I'm fine, dear," I forced a smile.

The itching around my neck increased by the moment and I found myself hissing in pain or....

I don't know what the feeling is. It felt strange. I was craving something or someone. It felt like I would crumble if I didn't have that.

What is going on with me? Why do I feel this way?

"Are you ready, Mel?"

Malcolm stepped in with a huge smile on his face. He checked me out and gasped.

"Mel?" He called as if he couldn't believe that it was me standing before him.

"Right here," I smiled, sniffing back my tears.

"You're so pretty," he muttered as he delivered a kiss to my head.

"Thank you," I hugged him.

I needed to feel that all these weren't a dream. I needed to be sure that I was alive and on earth not in some fantasy world. I needed to know that all that was happening right now wasn't just my imagination.

I fell into Malcolm's arms and squeezed into him like life depended on it. He brushed my hair as always and as if he could read my mind, he whispered,

"It's all happening honey. And you deserve it."

I hugged him tighter and let my tears flow. They were tears of happiness, I convinced myself as I cried.

All the pain and humiliation that I had faced in the past came playing in my head in slides. My heart clenched painfully as each scene unfolded.

However, the scenes got stuck on a particular one. I kept seeing and hearing his voice as he spoke those spiteful words.

"I don't want a spineless mutton like you for a mate!"

"I Derek Marvin, reject you as my mate!"

"You are mine now."

"You bear my mark."

Derek is messing with my head. It's him. I won't let him do that to me.

"Thank you, Malcolm," I hugged him, toughening myself up.

I shut my eyes and made sure to sniff back my tears along with every lingering emotion.

Happiness is what I crave and now that I've found it, I won't let it get ruined. After tonight I will be rid of Derek. In my life and my heart.

"Dorian is waiting," Malcolm took my hand and led me out of the room.

"Hold on," Sophia jumped forward and retouched my makeup. She gave me a side hug before ushering us out.

Soon, I was walking down the throne room with my hand hooked with Malcolm's. Since my father refused to perform his duty of walking me down the aisle like every other father would, Malcolm took on the responsibility.

I smiled seeing my two darlings walking right ahead of us like my protective shields. I watched their little figure walk confidently towards the crowd.

It was supposed to be a celebration for just family members. I wonder why there were so many people.

I was about to ask why there were so many people when my eyes caught Dorian's figure. He was wearing a huge grin. I could almost see his heart in his smile.

I have seen him smile so many times, but this was totally different. He was elated and it was obvious.

Our gazes locked as I went towards him and I could swear that I heard him speak in my head.

"I love you, Mel," as if to confirm my doubt, he spoke again. "You're about to become mine forever."

I felt an immediate strike to my head at his confession. It felt as If I had been hit by an unseen force. Or is it an opposing force?

With a forced smile, I walked towards Dorian and Malcolm placed my hand in Dorian's.

This wedding must push through. I chanted it to myself. It's the only way I can get rid of Derek.

The Kingdom's priest began the ceremony and soon we were saying our vows. I was impressed by all of Dorian's promises to me.

However, before I could say a word in response to the vow, the door of the throne room was pushed open and Derek marched in along with some guards.

"Seize him!" He yelled pointing at Dorian.

The guards dashed forward to grab Dorian, but I stepped forward and stopped them.

Goddess. Why have you planted such a villain in my life?

"What's going on?" I asked, trying to sound polite.

I wouldn't want to disrespect the king before so many people. Everyone was now on their feet.

"Your majesty, what is going on?" Sofia asked with a bow.

"Stay out of this!" He yelled, his eyes glittering dangerously like he was about to go on a killing spree.

"Please tell us why you want Dorian arrested?" My mother asked as they all arrived at the altar.

"This wedding cannot be held!" He roared.

I looked into Dorian's eyes asking silently if he had somehow offended the king. He shook his head slightly.

"Why not?" I heard a tiny voice speak up from beside me. "Why can't this wedding happen?" Gio spat, his eyes matching Derek's as he growled.

Oh no. I hope my son isn't about to attack the king.

I moved to stop Giovanni before he would jump on the king, but I felt the veil slip off my face, exposing my neck.

"Because Melody belongs to me!"
