Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 56

Ch. 56 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Melody

The middle-aged man touched my forehead to feel my temperature. However, he jumped backwards as my body convulsed.

"What is wrong with her?" Gio's worry-filled voice made me sad. I tried to speak but my tongue felt like it had been jammed and glued to my mouth.

I couldn't speak, but I could hear everything loud and clear.

I looked down at my chest, thinking the loud thumping was from my heart, but it wasn't. There were numerous heartbeats and murmurs. Everyone spoke at once and I could hear it all.

What I found strange was how loud I could hear their heartbeats.

What is going on with me?

My body moved on its own twisting and turning in strange directions.

I screamed as my body suddenly twisted, making me bend. I looked at my hand and gasped as my nails were extremely long and strange looking.

"Help her!" Gio screamed.

Everyone else stood and stared at me. They looked surprised and couldn't even come close.

This doesn't look good. What is happening to me?

"Help Momma, please," Aaron begged, but Malcolm picked him up in his arms. "Your momma's going to be fine."

Aaron looked like he would argue, but Malcolm left with him still in his arms. Malfoy also took Gio. He refused to leave, but Malfoy pat his head and whispered, "When this is done, you'll be so proud of her."

My son looked confused at Malfoy.

I was lost too. What does he mean by that?

The doctor also took his tools and left with the nurses.

Why are they all leaving?

I'm in so much pain. Why won't this doctor help me? Did he leave because my father asked him to?

My father is the only one who enjoys seeing me in pain.

I looked in his direction to see if he was the one who had asked the doctor to leave me to die with this pain. However, the look on his face told me otherwise.

He was surprised. Stunned speechless if put appropriately. He looked like he was watching a phenomenon.

He couldn't move.

I screamed as more pain hit and I was kneeling on all fours. My backbone snapped and I felt some strange twists in my body like it belongs to someone else, not me.

"You'll be fine, Mel," Dorian kept singing to my ear.

My eyes caught a figure standing behind me. It was Derek. He was stupefied. His eyes were wide open like they would roll out of their sockets.

When did he come in?

His mouth was left ajar, leaving me to wonder what they were awestruck about.

"You can do this, Mel," Dorian's word of encouragement rang loudly in my ears, but I still do not know what he was encouraging me for.

He picked me up hurriedly and rushed out of my father's study.

Why was he rushing? And where is he running to?

I screamed as more pain hit me. This time I struggled to leave Dorian's arms, but his hold was strong and he held me tight in his arms.

He set me down on the bed as we arrived back in his room.

'Just breathe, Mel,' now he spoke in my head.

I turned my head to look at him and he shrugged like it was natural.

I mean, I've heard Derek talk in my head, but not him. Now, I believe that I share some kind of connection with Dorian.

'This is only painful at first,' he smiled.

'At first?' we were now communicating through our minds.

Goodness!

I spoke!

I spoke to Dorian with my mind!

I can't believe that I just did that. I have always wished I could communicate just as everyone else does. They speak to each other without moving their lips. I couldn't do it because I didn't have a wolf, but I just did that now.

What does this mean?

Before I could delve further into the thoughts, my body twisted and I found myself on the floor.

Dorian squatted before me and watched me.

'I wish I could help you through the transformation, but no one has been known to do that.'

Wait. Did he just say transformation?

What transformation is he talking about?

Oh goddess. Is something bad happening to me?

Is that why my brothers couldn't look at me? Is that why they took my kids away? So they won't have to see the monster I'm becoming?

Oh no.

Why is this happening to me?

'Stop fighting it.' Dorian grabbed my shoulder. 'It will be more painful if you do that.'

Why shouldn't I fight it? I've been through so much in my life. The last thing I want is to become a monster and have my kids running from me.

'Listen to me, Mel,' he shook my shoulder.

He was now on his fours just like I am. He looked in my eyes and I felt something touch me from within like he was trying to connect with my soul.

'Can you hear me?' He spoke softly to my ear, temporarily distracting me from the pain I was feeling. 'Let it through, Mel. Embrace it.'

I shook my head in refusal.

Why should I embrace pain?

As if he could read my mind he moved closer and our faces were inches apart. We were crawling on all fours like toddlers.

'Do you trust me?' he asked and I nodded in response.

Who cares if my tongue was roasted. I can communicate with my mind and I've never been happier. If I wasn't in so much pain, I would be dancing happily for this new development.

'It's a part of you, Mel, let it out.'

Eyes locked. Kneeling on fours, we spoke in each other's minds. It felt good

'How?' I asked, confused about what he was asking me to do.

'Close your eyes and embrace this. All you have to do is feel it. Breathe it.'

I did as told.

My body became light as a feather. I felt like I was floating. Soon there was no pain anymore.

Something in me seemed to have changed, but I couldn't tell what it was.

Lost in my world, I didn't realize what had happened to me until I heard Dorian say, 'What the hell.'

I opened my eyes to look, but I was stunned by what I saw. I couldn't find myself anymore. In my place was a .......
