"Let's get married tomorrow," I announced to my entire family.
I couldn't wait to be kept away from Derek. If I'm married to Dorian, I'm sure that he'll stay away.
After all, what king would like to be seen with someone else's wife?
I will make sure to explain everything to Dorian after this. The earlier Derek accepts that I'm over him, the better it will be for him and everyone else.
Dorian is the perfect man for me. He stood by me when I was at my lowest. He was my shield when I was alone and miserable. I would never have come this far without him and I will never hurt such a sweet soul.
Even though I can't explain what my feelings are for him, I will still choose to be with him a hundred times more than to be with Derek, my supposed mate who didn't give a shit about my emotion.
"Are you serious? You aren't joking, right?" Dorian had my cheeks cupped as he spoke. "You won't change your mind, right?"
I could see both surprise and happiness in his eyes.
Yeah. He should be happy. He deserves it.
"I won't," I affirmed, ignoring the presence of the others in the room.
"goddess, Mel, you've made me so happy." He lifted me off the ground and whirled around with me in his arms.
"Alright. That's enough. Let us share your happiness," my mother said from behind us.
I went into her open arms and hugged her.
"I'm so happy for you, Mel, you deserve a man like him."
"Oh no, ma'am." Dorian shook his head and brushed his hand through my hair. "Only a fool wouldn't want a woman like Melody. I'm lucky she chose to be with me."
Dorian's response brought my mother close to tears. "I'm so happy she found you." She hugged Dorian.
"I'm the luckiest to have found her," Dorian replied.
"Wow Mel, You're getting married tomorrow." Malfoy took my hands and shook them. "I'm happy to see you happy." He rubbed my head like he was holding a young pet.
"Stop it, Malfoy." I frowned.
"I missed doing this, Mel. Please don't stop me now."
I know that my brothers missed me as much as I missed them, but coming from Malfoy made my heart warm up.
I didn't resist anymore. I let him ruffle my hair.
"Mother, look our little Melody is all grown. She is a mother of two handsome pups and now, she's about to be married to a great alpha like Dorian."
Malcolm shook hands with Dorian and they both exchanged a side hug.
"Trust me, Malcolm, I'm the happiest man on earth right now." Dorian's smile brought a smile to my face.
I was glad to see him so happy. He deserves the entire happiness in the world.
"I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause you all. We were supposed to get married back at the Dark Flame Pack, but after coming here, I wanted Melody to be with her loved ones when she gets joined with me." Dorian explained. "I wouldn't want to....."
"Who said this was an inconvenience?" Malcolm broke into his words. "We would never miss Melody's wedding for anything. Besides, you just made it easier for us by choosing to have your wedding here in our kingdom."
"Yes, Dorian. You just earned yourself another point in my heart with this decision of yours." Malfoy chipped in.
I stood aside and watched my family rejoice and congratulate each other while they all talked about the things they would do.
My eyes darted in the King's direction and I couldn't help but wonder why he was being so quiet.
Derek had a forlorn look on his face and he seemed lost. He didn't speak a single word the entire time.
Dorian and I excused ourselves after the announcement. I needed to explain everything to him. I didn't want to keep him in the dark.
He must know of my relationship with Derek. Especially if he's going to be attacked again. He should know why.
He should know how selfish and cruel Derek is and why we need to stay away from the Shadow Pack.
"Dorian, there's something I would like to tell you." I began as soon as we arrived in his allocated chamber.
"What is it, Mel?" Dorian sounded so happy that I was starting to doubt if it was a good idea to tell him.
All I want is to make him happy. He deserves all the happiness in the world. However, I wouldn't want to hurt him by keeping this from him.
I have heard of the feelings that follow the marking and I'm sure that it's the reason why Derek was so sure that I wouldn't be able to stay away from him. But I can change that if I also get marked by Dorian. I just hope it works.
"Are you okay?" I diverted the question. He was okay since he was standing right here before me all hale and healed.
However, I was confused about how to begin the explanation. I don't know what to say or how to say it.
"I'm fine, Mel," he caught my waist and buried his head on my shoulder.
I cringed and hissed as his head brushed through the mark on my shoulder.
"You just completed me by accepting to be joined with me." He kissed my shoulder. "Now, you'll be mine."
Derek's mark burned as soon as Dorian said that. I pursed my lips to keep the pain in.
"I love you so much, Mel," he kissed that spot again and this time I couldn't hold back the pain.
I hissed in agony as soon as his lips touched my shoulder.
"Is something wrong? Are you injured?"
Dorian removed my hair from my shoulder and the mark came to light. His eyes glowed dangerously and he growled. He brushed his finger against the mark repeatedly but didn't speak a word.
I could tell that he was trying to keep his fury in. He leaned closer as if to get a better view of the mark and he growled, this time louder than the first.
His eyes stared into mine as he said,
"Who did this?"
