"Melody!" I called as I watched her run off. She was furious and distraught. I ran after her to catch her, but she ran so fast and suddenly disappeared.
I searched for her, but she was gone. No matter how loud I called for her all I got was the return of my voice.
I looked around for her, but there was no sign of Melody anywhere. Though I've lived in the palace all my life, I still wasn't familiar with some parts of the palace and this place was one such place.
After calling to no avail, I decided to go check her room for her, but it was empty. There was no sign of her at all. It means that she didn't return to her room after I marked her. Then where is she?
Standing in the room covered in all of Melody's scent, I couldn't help but inhale deeply. Savouring all of her beautiful scents.
I've always wanted to be close to her, but she never lets me. The closest I've been to her was today when I was about to mark her.
Although I wasn't planning on marking her, I just couldn't stop myself. Especially after seeing that Dorian almost beat me to it. I couldn't stand by and watch my mate get taken from me.
Melody is my mate. The mother of my pups. She was given to me by the moon goddess. How could I let Dorian take her from me?
I felt the bitterness and pain she felt as soon as I marked her. Every feeling of hers became mine as well.
I wanted to explain to her, but she was gone before I could. I didn't know where to find her.
I sent my maids and guards in all directions to go in search of her. I was becoming restless. I couldn't stay put knowing that someone was out there, ready to snatch my mate.
I lay on the bed and rolled around on the sheets inhaling Melody's scent like life depended on it.
Lately, she's all I think about. I strategize and think of ways to get her to become mine. I think of ways to claim my pups without having to lose my best friend.
However, nothing seems to be working. Especially when Melody doesn't seem to care about me one bit. All she sees is that idiotic alpha.
I wonder why she is so into him. He isn't as handsome as I am or maybe he is. But he isn't as strong as I am. That I am sure of. I just whipped the hell out of his pitiful ass.
Though I would have loved to kill him, I couldn't because Melody was there. I would have loved to scrape the skin off his face for daring to smooch my mate right under my nose.
However, I couldn't risk having to earn Melody's hatred. As it is, she already despises me. I wouldn't want to increase that.
Even though he tried to mark my mate. Even though he tried to take what is mine, I have to let him live, for Melody's sake.
Nevertheless, I already did the needful. I took what is mine. Now, Melody will have to accept me as her mate once again. The mark will make her feel everything I feel. She's bound to me now.
I smiled thinking of my victory. Now, I'm one step ahead of that silly alpha. All I have to do is get Melody to forgive me then I can explain what happened that night to her.
Once forgiven, accepting me would be a lot easier.
I lay on the bed with my hands propping my head upwards as I counted the ceiling rail. I was fantasizing about my coming life with Melody.
The mark will set everything straight and all the feelings she's buried deep within her will come alive once again. I'll be the only one she wants.
The door to the room opened and I sat up immediately thinking it was Melody. However, it was one of the maids I sent to go search for her.
"Miss Melody is nowhere around the Palace," she announced.
Now that got me worried.
I was on my feet in no time. I went out of the room to search for her. I would look in heaven if need be. After searching rigorously without results for about an hour. I felt my heart thump.
I touched my chest and wondered why it running so fast then it dawned on me that those weren't my feelings they were Melody's. I waited to feel something else to know if she was in trouble, but none came. She wasn't in trouble she was running back home.
I searched my head and thought of the place where she would go first. I couldn't decide who came first for her, her mother or her brothers'.
So I stationed my guards outside Malcom and Malfoy's chamber and I sent some maids to keep an eye on the pups just in case she chose to visit them instead.
I sent a Delta wolf to keep an eye on Dorian just in case she also chose to visit him and he tried to touch her again. Then I went to her mother's room to wait for her because something in me seemed certain that she would visit her mother first.
Behold, Melody arrived after waiting for half an hour. However, her reaction was entirely different from what I had expected.
I didn't see the love I expected for me in her eyes. Instead, she jumped straight into Dorian's arms. He boldly kissed her again.
He hasn't learned his lessons.
I clenched my fist and tried to reign my anger in as it would be uncalled for to see me hurting Dorian when there were so many people around.
I waited for her to come to me, but nothing happened and as if that wasn't shocking enough, I heard her ask Dorian a strange question and as soon as he nodded she smiled and said, "Let's get married tomorrow."
What the hell!
She bears my mark and still wishes to get married to someone else. No way!
There's no way in hell that I'll let that happen. Instead of a wedding, there will be a blood bath.
I stood up abruptly and turned to leave amidst all the jubilation of the Wayne family. Everyone was already picking a duty to fulfil for the following day.
I was leaving so I could think of something.
"Are you alright, your majesty?" Sofia called after me.
"I'm fine," I muttered harshly. Irritation was obvious in my response.
"You don't seem happy about Melody's wedding."
Was that supposed to be a question?
Sometimes I can't help but think that Sophia is aware of the relationship between Melody and me.
"Am I supposed to answer that?" I countered.
"Why do seem unhappy about Melody's wedding? Shouldn't you be happy for her?"
Now I'm irritated.
"Happy?" I hissed and Sophia'seyes widened at the sharpness of my tone. "Why should I be happy when I'm sure that there won't be a wedding?"
