Melody
"What the hell did you do!"
Father's voice echoed loudly, but I was dumbfounded. I was too stunned to speak. Like how in the goddess name did I do that?
I sent a man flying out the door without contact. And it wasn't just any man. It was Derek, the alpha king.
"Melody," Dorian rushed to hold me. "Are you okay, Mel?"
Trust Dorian to worry about my well-being before anything else.
"I'm... I'm fine."
I was confused. I didn't know what to feel or how to react to all that was happening. Too many things have happened to me in just one night.
I found my second chance mate in Dorian. My wolf called Derek our mate; my bond with Derek was rekindled.
"Momma!"
"Momma, are you okay?"
The twins ran towards me and hugged me.
I could lie to everyone, but never to them. So, I chose silence instead of saying that I'm fine because I am not.
I am not okay.
I don't think I will be, until I've figured out what is happening.
I brushed my hand through their hair and nodded to their questions.
"What happened?" The corridor became crowded at once.
Queen Rosanne and everyone else arrived. Miranda touched Derek and helped him get up with the help of Malfoy.
His eyes were on me, but he had no choice but to help the king.
"What happened?" Queen Rosanne also asked.
Her gaze went from the broken door to Derek and back to me.
"It's nothing," Derek shook his body and the maids wiped the dirt off him.
"Go change your clothes and we can...."
"How?" Derek stared at me like he was seeing a stranger. "How did you do that?"
How do I tell him that I don't even know how that happened?
"Majesty, please go change your clothes. We'll be here when you get back."
Malcolm spoke before I could figure out a response. I wouldn't disobey Derek in front of so many people.
I sighed in relief as soon as I heard their suggestions. I was glad that I would escape in his absence and go prepare for our departure tomorrow.
"I want to have a word with Melody." Derek refused to leave.
Why won't he just leave me alone?
"I have nothing to say to you," I made sure that I Looked everywhere else but at him.
"You heard her," Dorian was quick to reply.
He held my waist and took me in his arms. "Let's go. You can spend the night in my room."
"Melody!"
Father's hateful voice yelled my name so loudly that my ear drums shook.
"Won't you explain what happened here?"
I gulped and looked at my pups.
How do I say that I threw the king out the door? I don't want them to see me as a monster.
"I didn't touch him."
That was true.
"How did he fall out then?" Father was persistent.
"I..."
"Father, how could this be Melody's fault?" Malcolm demanded.
"Besides, shouldn't the question be what Derek was doing over here?" Sophia's counter-question put my father in a temporary mute mode.
"Exactly," Malfoy chimed in. "I bet Melody was only protecting herself from getting raped again."
Silence ensued as soon as Malfoy dropped that bombshell.
"There's no way, Derek will do that!" Miranda yelled. "He would never go close to an ugly, Wolfless hag like your sister!"
"He did that once and these two are proof of that," Sofia pointed at my pups.
"Stop it Sofia. Now's not the time to crack jokes." Queen Rosanne sent a warning to Sofia.
"I'm only stating facts, Mother," She shrugged, unwilling to back down.
"Now, I want to know what transpired here."
King Arthur stepped in and looked around the room.
"When will you stop creating problems?" Father barked causing King Arthur to halt between his words.
He turned to look at me with amazement. "Did Melody throw Derek out the door?"
"She was the only one in the room when the king was thrown out. So she should tell us what happened."
I can't believe that he would say that. I wonder why my father chooses to blame me for everything.
"If Melody pushed Derek, he must have done something to deserve that," Sofia added.
"I didn't do anything!"
Derek couldn't take the accusations anymore. He hated being tagged as a bad person.
"I was here to apologize. To ask for a fresh start."
Listening to Derek got me irked.
He is trying to justify himself for barging into my room. Why can't he understand that I want nothing to do with him?
"A fresh start?" Dorian scoffed. "Why won't you just leave her alone? She's got a mate now, Derek, and that's me."
"Really?" Derek laughed. "Her mate, huh?" He adjusted his robe and came closer to us. "Where does that leave me?"
I bit my lips in exasperation.
"Just stay out of her life!"
Goddess. Why have you chosen to do this to me?
'To have your revenge,' Joanne finally surfaced.
She had been quiet all along silently watching the drama unfold.
'Revenge?'
'The goddess has allowed you to avenge your pain.'
'Huh?'
Joanne has me confused.
'Show everyone who looked down on you that you are not the Wolfless and gutless girl they once knew.'
That was a dramatic line but doesn't sound bad either.
'But how was I able to throw him out without contact?' I asked the question bothering my mind since the beginning of all these.
'Because you have the gift of telekinesis.' Joanne's reply got me stunned.
'What? So, I can now control things with my mind?'
'It's one of your many gifts, Mel, Use it.' Joanne giggled.
'Wow. Just one of my gifts. Which means that there's more?'
"Why are you such a magnet for problems?" Father hissed.
His loud voice snapped me back to the present.
"Father," Malcolm tried to stop him before my father insulted me in front of the people standing there.
However, he seemed to have underestimated my father's hatred for me.
"You've progressed so well in the art of seduction. Now you have two men fighting over you."
Father's words struck a chord in my heart and my body shook.
"I underestimated you." He kept moving closer, hurling hurtful words at me.
"You're not so useless after all," He sneered.
"You're a who...."
I closed my eyes and covered my ears to avoid listening to the rest of the words. However, everything suddenly went quiet.
I opened my eyes slowly and found my father stuck in a corner with a white satin-like material stuck in his mouth.
Everyone stared in awe as they wondered what just happened. Then I heard Derek scream, "It's her!"
"It's Melody!"
