Derek
Melody can only be mine.
I won't let her get snatched away from me.
After discussing my plans with my mother. I gave the order and went to bed, but I couldn't bring myself to sleep. I was tossing and turning on the bed.
My heart was panicking. Something in me was afraid that if I closed my eyes, I wouldn't see Melody anymore. I jumped out of bed at the thought and I paced round the room.
My head was spinning with several thoughts swimming through it.
I took off my clothes and went for a bath. I soaked myself in the warm bath, letting the water wash away my fear and insecurities.
I scrubbed and scratched myself as if that would take away my worries.
Melody's voice was all I heard every time I closed my eyes. Her face is all I see everywhere.
"I hate you, Derek!"
"Stay away from me!" Her harsh voice rang out in my head Startling me back to my senses.
I jerked upward and got out of the tub and straight back to my chamber. The maids were there with my ceremonial robe.
Did I fall asleep in the tub? How long has it been?
I couldn't stop wondering as it was already dawn when I stepped into the room.
Well, it's all good. At least now I can put my plan in place.
"Here's your robe for the ceremony," the maid announced as if I didn't know that there was a celebration going on.
"What celebration?" I hissed with irritation.
"It's Miss Melody's joining ceremony today." She explained while on her knees. "She will be getting married to the Alpha from the north." She enunciated as if I didn't understand the rubbish she blabbered earlier.
"What about the wedding, huh?" I replied almost yelling. "Is that the reason why you're here? Aren't you supposed to be my maid? Why do you concern yourself with irrelevant topics?"
"I'm sorry, majesty," She threw herself to the ground. " I was just....."
"Leave my sight!" I yelled before she could complete her apology.
Even though I knew that Melody was getting joined today. I have been confident with the thought of ruining the wedding. However, listening to this maid's silly rants reminded me of the things at stake.
I mean, what if I arrive late?
What if the ceremony was completed before I got there?
What if my plan fails?
Sending the rest of the maids out, I dressed myself up and set out to carry out the most important mission in my life at the moment.
I made sure that there were guards in various parts of the guest chamber allocated to Dorian.
I was told that he was already in the throne room. My Father had taken responsibility for the ceremony, so I knew that everything would be close to perfect. Too bad I'll have to ruin my father's hard work.
I admired the decoration as I walked down to the throne room with my strongest guards marching behind me.
My Beta and Delta were on either side.
Donovan had been asking what Dorian's crime was and why I wanted him arrested. I didn't reply, but he didn't leave my side either.
We arrived at the throne room in time to hear Dorian take his final vow. The animal plans to worship and care for my mate, while I'm alive? No way!
I have to protect and care for Melody and I do not need anyone to do that for me. Especially not this silly Alpha from the north.
I hastened my steps to stop Melody before she took the vow. Her eyes became vicious as soon as I had my guards surround Dorian.
She jumped forward and stood before him.
I was immediately questioned by the members of the Wayne family. First, it was Sofia, then Malcolm and Melody.
"What crime has Dorian committed?" The Viscountess asked as she stepped out from the crowd.
As if the questions thrown at me weren't enough. Giovanni marched with his eyes blazing with rage.
My heart hit bottom as I saw my son ready to take me on in defence of a stranger.
However, Melody stopped him before he could go further. She was so enraged that she didn't care if we were in public and people were watching.
Her anger fueled my determination and I darted forward, sending her veil off. I scratched a part of her dress off, large enough to show my mark to everyone present.
"Melody belongs to me! She bears my mark!"
There was a loud clattering sound from the side as my father staggered backwards.
"What have you done?" He muttered as he moved closer.
Dorian's eyes were fixed on the mark. He was looking from Melody's neck to me.
I smiled in contentment as I watched the look of defeat on his face.
"How could you mark her when she's not your mate?" Father asked sadly. "Miranda is your fiance? Just how in the goddess' name could you do such a thing?"
My Father sounded displeased as he spoke. He was disappointed.
All my life I have only done things to make my parents proud, but right now my father seems disappointed in me.
"Majesty, please forgive this silly daughter of mine if she has done anything to seduce or confuse you to......"
"Stop!" I couldn't stand by and listen to the Viscount say bad things about Melody this time. Not when everyone was present. "Do not say it." I barked.
The Viscount was stunned by my harsh voice towards him. It's the first time I ever raised my raise at him.
"Why shouldn't he say it? Huh?" Miranda was now in tears.
She stared at Melody as if she would tear her apart at any time.
"First, you kissed her at Sophia's wedding and now at her wedding, you had her marked." Miranda crossed her arms. "Your majesty, why don't you tell the entire kingdom what's been going on between you and Melody when I'm to become your queen."
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The nerve of Miranda to speak to me in that manner.
"Queen?" I hissed in anger. "You aren't worthy of that position."
Since it has all come to this, I have no choice but to let it all play out. I want this wedding stopped and if revealing my past with Melody was the key, then so be it.
"I am not worthy?" Miranda scoffed unbelievably. "If I'm not worthy then who is? Melody? This slut with two fatherless pigs?" Miranda laughed out loud.
A slut? Two fatherless pigs?
Did Miranda just refer to my mate and Pups as that?
Without waiting to listen to anything else, I grabbed Miranda by her neck and threw her off the ground.
I am not violent, but every time someone says anything about Melody, it ignites some strange and violent tendencies in me.
I sent Miranda falling at her father's feet as I gave a response to her words.
"This slut is more worthy to be my queen because she is my Mate!"
