Melody
Dorian's presence lit up my dark world. I would never have thought that he would come find me.
Even though he had said that many times before, I never thought that he would actually do it.
His presence gave me solitude. Even Aaron and Giovanni were super excited to see him. Dorian wouldn't let go of me. He kept holding me as if he was afraid that he wouldn't see me again if his hold loosened.
Dorian didn't find anything suspicious in Derek's fussy questions. I was boiling with rage as Derek kept asking Dorian all kinds of annoying questions.
He was staring down at Dorian as if he wanted to attack him. Everyone was happy to meet Dorian and he was elated to finally meet my family.
It felt as if they had known him for a long time. In fact, his presence spiced up the party. Malcolm made us dance too.
I have never had so much fun since I became an adult. My pups enjoyed the party too. I watched them dance with my brothers and Sophia.
Seeing all of them made me forget my sorrows. I pushed my pain and all of Father's hurtful words to the back of my mind.
Soon the banquet ended and we had to return to Father's manor. However, Queen Rosanne asked us to stay back. We returned to the rooms allocated to us.
My mother took Aaron to her room, while Giovanni chose to stay with me. He told Dorian about his experience there. He relayed everything without missing a single detail.
"So you won't come back here?" I returned to hear Dorian ask.
"I will, but only if momma comes too."
I have always known that Giovanni would always go where I go, but right now, I know he was saying this because of all that happened over here.
I'm just glad that my father didn't show his hatred for me when my pups were around. I don't know how to explain the reason why he hates me.
I would never be able to erase the bad memories from their minds. And I would never be happy if my kids hated my father.
"We will come back," I ascertained. "To visit once in a while." I kissed Gio's head and took him to bed.
"Are you sure?"
His eyes stared into mine as if he knew that whatever I just uttered wasn't the words of my heart.
If I had a choice, I would never come back here, but for my mother and brothers, I would have to come back sometime.
"Yes sweetie, I am."
"Okay, momma." He smiled and closed his eyes. "Goodnight momma."
"Goodnight sweetheart." I sat by the bedside and watched him fall asleep.
The moon goddess knew how lonely I was and she decided to send Giovanni and Aaron to me.
They were my protectors, guardian angels and joy-givers . Words can't explain how much I love them.
As soon as I was sure that he was asleep, I turned to leave so I could change my clothes. However, I was caught around the wrist by Dorian.
"Something wrong?" He asked, his eyes watching me keenly.
"No," I shook my head.
"Melody, you know you can't lie to me."
I pursed my lips and tried not to cry. Even though this place was my home. My kingdom. The place where I grew up. I feel more like a stranger here than a native.
"I..."
"Alright, come."
He took my hand and led me outside. We sat on the floor in the garden under the moonlight.
"How is everyone at home?" I asked as Dorian placed his head on my lap.
"All good."
"And the rogue king?" I gasped as I realized that war was brewing before I left the Dark Flame Pack and now he is here, so far away from the pack.
"His chapter is closed." He chuckled.
"What? How?"
Dorian smiled and rubbed my forehead. "It's you."
"Me?"
I wonder what he meant by that. I was of no use over here. Even though I was present, I could do nothing to help when they all went to war and he is saying that they conquered the rogue king because of me. How is that possible when I was here the entire time?
"Yes, my love." He sat up and placed his head on my shoulder. "I missed you so much that I couldn't wait to come to you. So I channelled my anger and frustration and attacked the rogue king alone."
"Alone?" I exclaimed in shock.
Who in his right mind would attack a maniac all on their own?
"Are you out of your mind? What were you thinking? How could you do that? What if something happened to you?" A strange kind of fear crept up in my heart.
I know that I have only a few dear ones and amongst those few, Dorian is one of the fewest few that I never want to lose.
"Shh..." He stroked my face. "Look at me, I'm fine, aren't I?"
"But still, you shouldn't have done that. What if...."
Before I could complete my words, he kissed me. I poured my emotions into the kiss and I let myself soar in the moment.
After everything that has happened to me since I arrived here, I needed to feel loved. I wanted to feel alive again. And only Dorian can give me such joy.
"Nothing can happen to me, my love. I won't die without your permission."
I hated him for joking at a time like that. I pulled him closer and acted like I was about to kiss him, but I bit him instead.
He licked my lips and kissed my upper lips. I immediately released him and he smiled, his eyes settling on the ring I had on.
"Mel, why don't we have our joining here?" I sat up straight and looked at him.
"Huh?"
"I mean, your entire family is here. Why don't we get married here?"
