Derek
"If you have your own pups someday, I'm sure that they will look exactly the same."
Does she know something?
Did she find out about that night? Or does she suspect me?
I don't know why my mother thinks that my future pups will look like Melody's. I mean, what are the odds?
I haven't gotten to see those kids up close. I do not even know how they look. I have only seen them from afar. I do not even know their names.
Could it be that they look like me?
I didn't know what to think anymore. After my mother's words earlier, every iota of doubt in me vanished.
I knew that my mother could never be wrong, but what bothers me was that if my mother could see the similarities between me and the pups, then it's only a matter of time before everyone else does.
What do I do, then?
"Derek, I think we should prepone our joining, don't you think?"
My train of thought was interrupted by Miranda's voice. I turned to see her standing beside me, giving me a clear view of her injuries.
She was badly scratched indeed.
"What? What did you say?" I didn't hear what she said or I probably couldn't understand.
"I am asking that we get married at the earliest." She repeated.
Blink one...
Blink two...
Blink three...
My eyes blinked on their own. I'm sure that they were as shocked as I was.
"Should we get married?" I asked again.
I probably didn't hear it right. Because I find it hard to understand why Miranda would ask for our wedding to be moved up.
"Yes Derek, I want us to get married fast."
Hearing her repeat those words made me feel livid. I wasn't expecting her to suddenly ask that with everything that was going on.
I wonder why she wanted us to do this.
"Do what you want." I hurried towards the exit as I noticed that Melody was leaving.
Although she wasn't limping like she was before, her walking step was still not balanced.
"Melody!"
She turned around, but a frown appeared on her face as soon as she saw me.
"Your majesty," She curtsied and the boys bowed.
Now that I see them up close, I think I can see the similarities that my mother was talking about.
'They are so cute, aren't they?'
I grunted as Jay's voice rang in my head.
"Where are you going?"
She squinted her eyes and pursed her lips. "To the manor,"
"Why?" I got closer and squatted. Involuntarily staring at the kids....my pups. "There's a celebration going on."
"I want to go back and make preparations for our departure." She pulled the kids closer as if she was afraid that I would take them away.
"Your departure?" I asked again.
It felt like I hadn't heard that right. I mean, what the hell?
Melody wants to leave? Will she take my pups with her?
No way!
I won't let either of them leave.
"Yes, your majesty." She smiled. "My mother is healed. The wedding is over. The war is over. So, our holiday is over." She stated it so simply.
Her holiday was over? What does that mean? Did she think that the entire time she spent was a holiday?
"You shouldn't leave yet."
I had a lot to say to her. I had a lot to ask, but I didn't know where to begin.
"Your majesty, we have a life to go back to." She stated, her eyes darting from one pup to the other.
"But you had your entire life here. Why can't you just stay back and....."
"Had... Your majesty." She curtsied. "Past tense. The life I had here was my past. Dark Flame is my present and future."
Though I knew that she was partially right, the truth hurts. I was hurt to hear this from her.
I am aware of the fact that she wants nothing to do with me or this place anymore, she didn't have to rub it in.
"Oh, uh..." A king shouldn't stutter, but when I'm with Melody, words elude me. I just don't know what to say to her.
I searched my head for a reply, but there was none.
"What is your name?" I held one of the boys' hands.
"Your majesty, my name is Aaron," he bowed and pointed at the other one. "And this is my brother, Giovanni."
"Majesty," The boy, Giovanni, bowed slightly. His frosty demeanor was amazing. I mean, how could a child be so cold?
I think he got that from me.
"Can I at least spend some time with my...." I bit my tongue as I realized what I was about to say. "Uh... Can I take them out? For shopping?"
"Why?" She asked, looking straight at me.
She is my mate and they are my pups. Do I need a reason to be with them?
"I just wanted to buy some things, so that they can...."
"No need," Giovanni replied.
His voice was cold and emotionless. He took Melody's hand and shook his head.
"We have everything we need and if there's anything else we want, then Dorian will get it."
"Yes, your majesty, we already have enough to take back home. Uncle Malcolm and uncle Malfoy also got us a lot of gifts." Aaron smiled and squeezed my hand. "Besides, Dorian gets us so many things that we hardly need anything else."
Dorian! Dorian! Dorian! My fist 0p01~ need not bother."
Need not bother? Is she kidding me?
"Melody..."
She didn't wait to listen to what I had to say, she was off before I could speak.
Gosh! Can this woman ever stop?
I went after her and caught up with her. She was almost at the gate.
"Melody!" I called out, making sure that my voice was loud and harsh. "Stop right there!"
There was no way in hell that I would let Melody leave. Especially now that I'm sure that she has my pups.
I know that it will be difficult to own up to this mistake that I have made, but I won't let them leave, no matter what happens.
"Your majesty," she turned, surprised to see me running after her.
"You are not allowed to leave!" I yelled.
"Not allowed to leave?" She frowned. "But why?"
"Because I....."
Before I could finish what I was about to say, I heard a disturbance at the gate and turned to see. However, the pups suddenly ran out of my hold and dashed towards the door.
They ran as fast as they could, leaving me wondering why, then I got my answer as I heard them call out that name.
"Dorian!"
