Derek
No freaking way!
It definitely cannot be.
I shook my head with disbelief and watched with my mouth wide open as both kids stepped out.
They couldn't possibly be the ones that hurt Miranda could they?
"Are you kidding me?" King Worden hissed with disbelief. "Do you pups love your mother so much that you'll even die for her? How can you take the blame for this?"
He scoffed and placed his hand on his waist as he watched the boys. Anyone could tell that they were enraged and their target was Miranda.
"She hurt my momma once before and I let it slide. She did it again, and I cannot tolerate it." One of the boys replied to King Worden.
Wait, what? Miranda hurt Melody before? When?
As if to confirm my words, he knelt and unwrapped Melody's leg. "See how badly she hurt her."
So, Melody's foot was hurt by Miranda? But why? Why did Miranda choose to hurt her so badly?
"No one hurts our Momma!" The other boy added a hiss.
The glow in their eyes was amazing. They were like fire and ice. While one emitted so much rage that his eyes were blazing like he would burn down his prey. The other one's rage spreads a certain coldness through the atmosphere. His eyes were frosty.
"Let's just go inside to discuss this." My mother ordered and we all moved towards the throne room.
I couldn't move my legs. The scene before me seemed surreal. It felt like I was watching a movie.
I was finding it hard to believe that these kids beat Miranda up. What exactly happened? And how were they so strong to take on Miranda?
I watched as Melody hugged them close and they wiped her tears. They didn't look frightened at all. Their confidence left me floored.
Just how could they be so confident while facing all these?
"So, you're saying that you both attacked the princess?" Malfoy's voice was filled with admiration as he asked.
"She hurt our Momma and we hurt her," The boys replied in unison.
"What insolence!" King Worden hissed. "How dare you ridicule my daughter!"
He stood up and pointed at the trio who were now standing at the center of the room as if facing a trial.
"Calm down, Worden, we'll get to the root of this." Father assured. "Rosanne, you were here at the palace. Did you see what happened?"
My mother stood up and smiled. "Just as I said, it was all a misunderstanding and can be handled in my court. You shouldn't be bothered with such trivial matters. Especially after you returned from battle."
My mother darted her gaze towards Miranda. She looked disappointed at the lady then she shrugged. "But if Miranda thinks otherwise, then she is welcome to tell everyone what happened."
Sofia crossed her arms across her chest and eyed Miranda. "Well, since you so badly want to get Melody punished, how about you tell everyone the whole truth."
Sofia sounded angry. Though she was friends with Miranda, I knew that if she was asked to choose between the two, she would definitely choose Melody without battling an eyelid.
I was staring from Sofia to Miranda and back to Melody, trying to figure out what was happening.
Though the pieces were starting to fall in place, I couldn't bring myself to accept my deduction.
I mean, they are so young how could they hurt Miranda so much, yet they didn't even suffer a scratch.
"Father, it's okay. I do not...."
"No. I will not let you be humiliated!" King Worden interrupted Miranda. He was so angry that he wasn't willing to listen to anything except to deal with whoever hurt his daughter.
"Believe it or not, she already has been." A woman from the crowd replied. "She was badly whipped by these young pups. What else could be more humiliating?"
At the woman's words, Miranda became restless. She has probably realized the blunder she made. This should have been swept under the rug. It was an embarrassing topic and she should have let it slide, but her desperation to be rid of Melody has gotten her humiliated.
She was beaten by two five year old pups. I also found that hilarious. I mean, wasn't Miranda supposed to be strong? I wonder how she ended up getting her ass whipped.
"What do you mean?" King Worden yelled at the woman who spoke.
"Princess Miranda, are you too shy to tell your father how you got beaten up?"
"I didn't get beaten, okay?" Miranda snarled.
I noticed that my father was about to speak but he stopped himself at my mother's signal. She seemed to be interested in Miranda's situation. She probably wanted to see how she got out of this.
"I only let them get away with it because they were just kids." Miranda added angrily.
"Really?" The woman scoffed. "But that wasn't what we saw earlier."
"Then please tell us what you saw." Malfoy demanded. He also wanted to know what transpired.
"Well, Princess Miranda thought that she could beat Melody because she had no wolf, but she didn't know that Melody had her young pups to protect her." The woman stared admiringly at Melody and the pups. "Even I can't get the scene from earlier out of my head."
"I can snap their necks with my eyes closed!" Miranda screamed.
"That's enough!" Mother yelled. Her voice echoed in the throne room. "That's enough drama. Let's just celebrate our victory."
Listening to the finality in her tone, everyone mellowed.
"Let the celebration begin!"
Everyone howled in excitement and the atmosphere immediately switched from being uptight to being fun. The celebration made everyone relax and they all seemed to have forgotten all the drama from earlier.
However, Melody sat alone at a corner with both kids on either side. They were looking very cute as they sat beside her like her guardian angel.
I found myself going towards them, but my path was suddenly blocked by my mother. "Where are you going?"
"I_Uh_" I didn't know what to say.
"Miranda is over there, so why are you going over there?" She pointed in Melody's direction.
"I was just_ Uh_ I wanted_"
"You can see it too, right?" Mother was looking in Melody's direction.
"See what?" I asked, wondering what she meant.
"Tell me, Derek, did you ever sleep with Melody?"
"Huh?"
My heart skipped a beat and I almost lost my footing. I was shocked by my mother's question. Why did she ask that?
"Why? Why do you say that?" I couldn't help but stutter.
Mother's eyes were fixed on Melody and she smiled. "Because I see you in her pups."
"Huh?" My mouth hung open in shock.
"Believe me Derek, if you have your own pup someday. I'm sure they'll look exactly the same."
