Melody
What did Derek mean by what he said? Does he think that everything is a joke? He considers the biggest pain of my life a joke.
I wonder how low Derek will stoop to hurt me.
He was saved earlier by the messenger who came to inform him that it was time to leave, otherwise, I would have given him a taste of my anger.
I do not care who he is, no one is allowed to toy with other people's emotions. He's done it before, but I won't let him do that to me now. Not anymore.
I am not that naive little girl anymore.
Holding the wall for support, I made my way towards the exit. However, I was stopped by the guards.
"You can't leave."
I raised my head to glare at the guard who was stopping me.
"Why not?" I gritted my teeth to keep the pain and anger in me hidden.
"I don't know why, Ms. Melody, but it's the king's orders that you do not leave the palace."
Who was he to give such an order? I own legs and I can choose where I go. Who gave him the right to order me around?
I do not belong in his kingdom nor am I a member of his pack, so what does he think of himself? Who is he to tell me where to go?
"Tell your foolish king that I will not receive orders from him!" I wanted to shout this out loud, but on second thought, I decided against it.
I didn't want to cause any more trouble for my family. As it is, my father already thinks that I am a trouble magnet. I can't prove him right.
What should I do now?
Should I keep quiet and go back in and become his captive? Or should I leave as per my will?
I didn't know what to do.
On one hand was my freedom and on the other was my family's peace of mind. What should I do?
"Ms. Melody, you should go back now." The guard replied, offering a fake and mocking bow.
No one respects me in the pack anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if even the guards mocked me.
I pursed my lips and turned to go back inside. After all, it's only a matter of a few days or weeks maybe. But I know that I won't be there forever.
I had only taken a few steps when I heard my favourite voices.
"Momma!"
I turned around to find my energy boxes running towards me.
I blinked and rubbed my hand on my face to wake myself up. I know that I miss them already, but I didn't think that I would be hallucinating about them.
"Momma!"
They hugged me, making me realize that this wasn't a dream. My pups were indeed there.
"Gio, Aaron." I hugged them tightly.
It's only been a few days, but it feels like it's been weeks. We've never been apart, so I know how they must feel.
"We missed you, momma." They kissed my cheeks on either side.
"I missed you too," I replied, looking forward to seeing who brought them there.
I noticed that my mother and Sofia also alighted from the car along with a few maids. They approached us with a smile and Mother hugged me immediately.
I wonder why she feels scared once I'm out of her sight.
"Where were you?" She asked as she rubbed my hair.
"I was here," I replied.
"You spent the entire night here?" Sofia asked, surprised. "With Derek?"
"No...uh... I was injured and his majesty helped me."
"Huh?" Sofia looked beside her and gasped as she heard me. "You mean, Derek took care of you the entire night?"
"It's not...he did....but it was...."
"You were injured?" Mother squatted and took my leg. "Let me see."
"Yes, let's see." Aarons and Giovanni also said.
"Let's go inside and we'll take a look," Sofia stated, but I could see her inquisitive gaze on me.
She wanted to know more. I'm sure she is just as surprised as I expected. I mean, who wouldn't be surprised? Sophia is aware of her brother's hatred for me.
He never hid the fact that he loathed me.
"Welcome," The queen met us at the doorway as soon as we arrived at the entrance.
"Your Grace," we all curtsied.
"Hello Celeste," The queen hugged my mother and they exchanged pleasantries.
"Mother," Sofia also hugged the queen while she praised her beauty.
"Wow momma, the palace is indeed so beautiful." Aaron looked around the huge space.
He was happy to finally be able to step into the palace.
"Melody," The queen seemed to have finally noticed me.
"Your Grace," I curtsied again.
"It's so good to finally see you again." She placed her hand on my shoulder and pulled me into a hug. "Why did you leave us for so long? Your presence brings life to the palace and after you left, we all missed you.
"Forgive me, your grace." That was all I could mutter.
I couldn't tell her the reason why I left nor could I tell her where I was, so I just offered an apology.
"Indeed, you look beautiful now." She commented as she checked me out. "And you are mature too. The news was correct, you are a lot different now."
"You flatter me, your majesty," I bowed.
"It's not flattery, my dear, you have indeed changed and I..." She cupped my cheek and kissed my forehead. "I love this refined Melody."
"Thank you, your majesty," I curtsied.
The royal family of Mallory are the most humble people in the world. Everyone in the family is so sweet and nice, except for Derek. I wonder why he chose to be the black sheep of the family.
"Come in," The queen led the way to the palace dining hall. "You must all be hungry after the journey down here, let's all have brunch."
She led us to the hall and ordered the maids to serve the dishes.
"Wow, Momma, this is so big!" Aaron gasped as he saw the huge table.
I ruffled his hair and smiled at him. However, I noticed that the queen's eyes soon landed on Aaron and her eyes widened. She circled the table and came towards us.
She squatted before Aaron, and Giovanni immediately stepped away, making sure to hold tightly to my hand.
"Whose pups are they?" She asked, staring fixedly at Aaron.
Mother came over too and she placed her hand on Giovanni's head, offering a proud smile as she said, "They are Melody's."
