Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 19

Ch. 19 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Melody

"How do I look?" Sofia asked for the hundredth time that day.

"You look ravishing," I replied honestly. She was indeed looking gorgeous. "Malcolm will fall heads over hills for you."

"Are you sure?" She asked, making me laugh.

"Of course, even a blind man can see how much he loves you."

"He loves me?" Sofia was out of her chair and beside me in a jiffy. "Did he tell you that?"

I understand why she was anxious about this. It's good to find your mate, but it's best if your mate loves you, and who better than me understands this fact?

"No, he didn't tell me...." Sofia pouted and sat down. I squatted in front of her to complete the rest of my words. "...But I can see it in his eyes."

I know my brother so well and I can tell that he loves Sofia. Judging from how he looks at her as if she was his world and the way he puts her interest first before his. It was all too clear, but my silly princess still doesn't see that.

"Trust me Sofia, Malcolm loves you," I assured her, as I fixed her crown.

"I have come to love him too, and I'm afraid he doesn't feel the same."

It felt so nice to hear that. At least one thing is certain. They both love themselves and they've already been joined by the moon goddess when she chose them as mates. So, after this worldly formality, then they will become one, forever.

I am so happy for Malcolm and Sofia. They deserved each other.

"It's time, Princess," Miranda announced as she arrived inside the room.

"I'm nervous," Sofia grabbed my hands tightly. "What if Malcolm changes his mind?"

As if!

Malcolm is even more excited about this wedding than she probably was. I wish my dear friend had known this.

"Malcolm would never do that. Stop being paranoid. Just breathe." I rubbed her back gently to help calm her. As soon as I noticed that she was relaxed, I hugged her again. Assuring her that all would be well. "It's your day, your highness, just enjoy the feeling. Besides, I'm right behind you, ready to punch whatever or whoever plans to ruin this day for you."

Sofia laughed and hugged me. "I'm so glad to have you here."

"Me too," I kissed her cheek and whispered. "Now, do not cry and ruin that gorgeous face or Malcolm might run away."

"Melody!" She pouted.

"Sorry, let's just go."

With renewed energy, Sofia went out of the room. She met her father down the hall. He was waiting to walk her to the aisle.

"Your Grace," I curtsied and so did Miranda, who was holding the basket of flowers. Her face was void of emotion and it looked like she was forced to be there.

"Hello ladies," King Arthur smiled, then took Sofia's hand. "My lovely," He kissed her knuckle. "Let's get you tied to my favourite lad." King Arthur smiled as he took her hand. "Excited?"

King Arthur adores Malcolm and he never hid this fact. In fact, he was fond of both my brothers.

"Very much," She giggled and let out a loud breath.

"Relax," The king whispered and resumed walking.

Soon we arrived at the hall where everyone immediately got to their feet. Surprisingly, Derek joined us at the entrance of the hall and he stood beside Sofia.

Yes. Derek might be an asshole to everyone else, but he definitely cares about Sofia.

"Let's get you married to the man of your dreams," he whispered to Sofia and she smiled.

With both men standing on either side, Sofia walked inside the great hall where Malcolm was standing at the altar all decked up in a red robe. My brother was looking dashing. His golden hair shone brightly, matching his mood as soon as he saw Sofia. His lips immediately curled up.

"Your Grace, Your Majesty," Malcolm gave a slight bow as King Arthur placed Sofia's hand in his.

Derek stepped aside immediately, bumping into me. I slid on Sofia's dress and struggled to hold back from falling, but I couldn't. However, right when I expected the fall, it never came.

I opened my eyes to find myself in Derek's arms. He was holding my waist and his other hand was on my back as he caught me. His face was so close that I thought he would kiss me once again.

I can't imagine slapping him in front of the entire congregation. So I immediately stood on my feet. I was about to thank him for saving him, but he ruined it.

"Goodness, Melody! Why are you so clumsy? Couldn't you watch where you're going?" He whisper-yelled.

So, now he's blaming me?

Did I bump into him or vice versa?

Derek is just so full of himself. Agreed that he couldn't apologise for bumping into me because he's king, but he shouldn't blame me for it, should he?

I shook my head and ignored him, concentrating solely on Sofia and Malcolm. After all, today was all about them.

"Your majesty, are you okay?" Some guards arrived to rescue the king as if I had attacked him.

"Your majesty, are you okay?" Father also arrived, looking worried.

"I'm fine," Derek replied and Father escorted him to his seat, but not without shooting me a glare.

Oh great! Now I'll be blamed for this.

"Are you alright, Mel?" Malcolm asked, making Sofia turn to look at me.

"Did you get hurt?" She asked.

"No," I smiled, temporarily putting my newly acquired problem aside.

The priest gave a short speech. Then the couple said their vows. They exchanged bands and then they kissed each other, solemnizing their joining.

"Long live the newlywed!" Everyone shouted, throwing flowers from different angles of the hall.

"Congratulations," I muttered from behind them and Sofia hugged me.

"I'm married, Mel. I'm married!" She yelled softly.

I was present. I saw it happen, but my friend was too excited to remember that. So, I smiled and congratulated her.

"Congratulations, Your Highness."

"Thank you, Mel," She replied.

Miranda came to stand beside me so she could sprinkle the flowers on the couple as they left the hall. However, as soon as she did, she stepped on my foot.

"Ouch!" I glanced in her direction expecting an apology or so. None came. Instead, she shrugged and smirked wickedly before saying, "Never mess with my fiance!"
