Pregnant and Rejected: His Wolfless Mate

Chapter 21

Ch. 21 / 111 Apr 02, 2026

Melody

My father believed that I was raped because I seduced men. He thinks whatever happened to me was what I deserved.

Why?

Why does my father hate me so much?

Why would he think that so lowly of me?

"Father, Melody was a victim back then. Don't blame her." Malfoy sounded displeased.

I could tell that he also didn't like what father said about me.

"Father, please. Don't go about saying such things about Melody. She is your daughter, our sister."

Malcolm chose to remind our father of our relationship just in case he forgot. Because I can't believe that a father would think so lowly of their child.

I agree that I was born differently. But should I be treated this way just because I was born without a wolf?

"She is no child of mine!" Father retorted. His eyes glowed with rage. "I never gave birth to a disgrace!"

No. This is too much. I can't stand this anymore.

My head was starting to spin and my foot was aching more than ever. As if the pain in my heart wasn't enough.

What did I ever do to my father?

I held my head and tried to steady myself to avoid falling. I wouldn't want to confirm my father's words by truly falling and disgracing myself.

"Father, you're not being fair." Malfoy clenched his fist. "Those words are harsh, Father. Melody was never at fault in all that happened to her."

I felt a pang in my heart at Malcolm's reply to my father. I was starting to think otherwise. I was starting to think that this was all my fault after all.

Being born without a wolf was my fault. Earning my father's hatred was my fault. Getting rejected by Derek was my fault. Getting raped by a stranger was my fault. Being banished and separated from my family was also my fault. Everything that happened to me was my fault.

"My words were harsh?" Father scoffed, his brow dangerously raised as he stared at Malfoy's clenched fist. "You want to rebuke me?"

Oh no, I don't like where this is going.

I will not be the reason why my brothers disobey my father. I will not be the reason why they are at loggerheads.

My brothers are my father's pride. I refuse to be the reason why they go against him.

"Father, you should treat Melody....."

I immediately held his fist and he unclenched it. Clasping his hand with mine.

I felt a burst of energy burst through me at this gesture. However, it couldn't kill the bitterness in my mouth.

"I'm not rebuking you, Father, but Melody deserves a second chance. Don't you think?" Malfoy's voice became mellow. "It wasn't her fault in the first place."

"Exactly," Malcolm added. "It's the fault of that bastard who took advantage of her."

"I will not rest until I have killed him for putting her through all this," Malfoy swore.

I didn't know what to feel. As much as I resented the man who put me through all this pain, I just couldn't hate him.

Whoever he was, he gave me the most beautiful gift anyone could ever have. My twins are the best thing that ever happened in my life.

They are the balm to the pain life has caused me. So, how could I hate him? Hating him is like hating my pups and I would never do that, ever.

"I know you both love her and that has blinded you from seeing who she really is, but I am not blind! I would never accept her!" Father stood up and marched towards the inner room of his study. "She is not welcome in my pack! And definitely not in my house!"

I badly wished the ground would hide me. I wanted to go inside the ground, but it wouldn't open no matter how much I begged in my heart.

"Father!" My brothers called in unison, but our father was gone. The door slammed loudly as he left.

"It's okay, Mel, father is just angry. He'll come around." Malcolm's soothing voice couldn't soothe my scalded heart.

This time the pain seemed to have gone deeper than I thought. It weakened my entire being, making me feel so small and worthless.

"I'm sure he'll forget all this when he meets the twins," Malfoy stated proudly. "All his anger would dissipate as soon as he meets them."

"They will cleanse the anger in his heart and replace it with love." Malcolm brushed my hair and hugged me. He could probably tell that I felt cold. So cold that my teeth were chattering. I needed warmth. I needed someone to hold me.

I wish Dorian had been here.

I need Dorian.

"You know, just the way they healed their mother's sickness, they will cure my father's anger too."

I scoffed inwardly at that. Is that even possible?

Can my father ever let go of his anger and hatred towards me?

His hatred for me was etched deep in his heart such that erasing it would be very difficult.

"Come, let's go." My brothers held me on both sides and led me out of the room, but stopped as my father returned.

"Where are you two going?"

"We want to take Melody to her room." They spoke at once.

"Why? Did she lose her legs?" Father hissed. "She didn't lose her legs when she was opening them for....."

"Please, please, father," I begged. I couldn't let him complete the words.

I was shattering. I could feel it.

"Why? You don't want to hear it?" Father hissed.

"It's a good thing that I won't have to remind you because I heard you have two souvenirs from your waywardness."

Souvenirs? He called my kids souvenirs of my waywardness.

Goddess. I wish this man wasn't my father. I would have stabbed him for saying that about my kids. But even though he doesn't remember our relationship, I do. And I will not attack my father.

I pushed all my strength into my legs so they could take me away from there. My brothers supported me, but my father shouted at them.

"Get back here, you two. We need to make plans for tomorrow!"

Malcolm wanted to say something, but I stopped him and signalled for them to go. Looking worried, they both released me and went towards Father's inner study.

Thus, my source of support was snatched. I held the wall and walked my way out of Father's study, but I couldn't move any more after walking a few meters.

I squatted and hugged my knees as my tears rained down.

No matter how hard I work on toughening up, it takes a few words from my father to tear me apart.

I tried to stand on my feet, but I couldn't. I staggered and almost fell, but I was held by someone. I raised my head to see who it was and I was surprised to see my other nightmare.

As if my father's cruel words weren't enough. Why did I have to stumble upon him now?

"Your majesty," I tried to curtsey, but he carried me. "What are you doing?"

Derek returned his gaze to me, but there was something different about the look in his eyes.

"Put me down." I struggled to get off, but he stopped and stared deeply at me before saying, "You and me, we need to talk."
