My eyes opened with a snap. Dastien! I could feel the pain again in my memories but it felt real. The terror permeated my skin and seeped into my bones.
All faces turned and lingered on me, and I clenched my teeth to suppress a shriek as I pushed myself up. My gaze darted around. I wasn't in my room. The walls were red, ancient, expensive furniture, this room was definitely royal.
King Kelstov was leaning against the doorframe. His yellow eyes were still on Elizabeth.
Arms curled around me, taking me in a choking embrace. I saw Mary grinning with tears.
"Girls, careful. Don't hurt her." She muttered.
They pulled away immediately. They were grinning but I could see tear tracks, slightly swollen or red eyes.
The skin of my cheeks was burning. I hoisted my hand. Elizabeth held it while shaking her head, "There's ointment on your cheeks. "
"Why?" I thinned my lips and felt the pain with stretching in my cheeks.
"Don't make faces. Remain calm." Silver pushed me back. My head hit the fluffy pillow.
"You did not break the oath," I asked her.
"No," Elizabeth smiled.
I let out a long sigh, "My skin is burning." I lifted my hand again.
"Is she awake? I heard her." Drake walked into the room.
Aubrette walked in next to him. A maid was holding the tray of silver behind her. She whirled and took it from her and dismissed her. That felt weird to me. We lived in a model world. We should treat everyone equally.
Silver and Elizabeth stepped back immediately, giving room to her. I gave them a questioning look. They looked away at Mary.
"I saw him. Dastien. I saw Dastien." I said, drifting my gaze on them.
She sat on the place where Silver was sitting and offered her soft smile, "Your mate couldn't heal you when he wasn't present in his human form." She placed the tray on the side table. The shining metal made a soft sound of clicking. There was a yellow gel material and in the second silver bowl, there was green.
"I knew it," I muttered. I was feeling sad not feeling him around me now.
"You must have felt him," Aubrette asked me with a smile. She wasn't looking like an arrogant witch anymore.
I wasn't a werewolf but I could feel him. I nodded slowly and looked back at my friends. They were looking at her.
I pulled back in pain when she swiped a wet cloth against my skin. Mary scurried close to the bed and got next to me.
"Why's it burning?" I squeezed my eyes and it increased the burning and stings.
Mary rubbed my hand between her, "The touch of magical features and FlammaFlos were the cure. Your next goal is Witch Academy." She didn't need to mention Curse. I nodded.
Aubrette began to wipe the wet cloth again. I smelled the rosewater and sandalwood.
I couldn't wait, but I knew he wasn't around, "Where's Dastien?" I asked.
"He's not here, pumpkin," Drake said. His arms were folded over his broad chest, bulging his biceps.
He's not here! My heart shattered into a million shards at that moment. Though, I knew. I wasn't feeling him around. But I felt everything once again.
I nodded again, "Can I see the mirror?" I wanted to know what happened to my face.
"It's a bad idea, sweetheart." She patted my hand again. I glanced at her, "Your tears were of magma." Mary said sadly.
I held my breath and looked at her with big eyes. Panic expanded in my chest, crushing my lungs. I couldn't breathe. "Impossible" Was it? I had felt the burning, the pain was unbearable.
"Your mate made King Kelstov and Queen Cassandra do the spell," Aubrette said with a suppressed smile. King Kelstov cleared his throat and he stared at the back of Aubrette, "Salve will heal it and you won't get any scar. You'll see it after a few hours. But no mirror until then." She changed the topic.
I smiled despite the pain. They made a good pair. After wiping the wet muslin cloth on my cheeks, she grabbed the yellow contained bowl, "It will burn first then give a cooling effect to your skin." She said.
I nodded and turned my gaze to Drake, Daniel, and Edward, "Did he talk to you?" I asked.
"Nothing," Edward said.
"There's a local witch." Drake said, grabbing all's attention, "We need to visit him. We'll be back before night." He said.
"I don't wanna stay here alone." I didn't trust them. My gaze turned watery.
"Please, don't cry. It will worsen your burning tracks." Silver took a step at me.
"Am I looking ugly?" I asked her.
"No, my dear." Mary tucked my hair behind my ear, "You're the purest soul, a good girl a mother always desires for. " She smiled at me.
"Don't make her cry, mom," Elizabeth said, worriedly.
I giggled and felt the pain. Mary turned her gaze at her and thinned her lips. Elizabeth smiled.
"You'll be healed soon," Aubrette said and got on her feet. She sighed, her chest lifted up with the move. She bent down, looking in my eyes, "Thank you," She tilted her head at Elizabeth. I could see the love in her eyes for King.
I nodded in understanding.
"Bless you," She kissed my forehead and a cloud of green dust sparkled around me. I glanced at the sparkling around me.
She spun gracefully and paced toward the door. Her gaze locked with his yellow eyes.
"We'll go home soon." Silver said, holding my hand, grabbing my attention.
"I should thank Cassandra," I muttered.
"No need. " She looked irked for a second," Drink it," Maria said, holding a glass.
"What's it?" I tried to sniff the air.
Silver smirk, "Honey and a lot of herbs. It's safe," She smiled.
"Ok," I held it and took a small sip. I couldn't tell the names of the herbs but it was sweet. I drank it quickly. When I glanced at them. My eyes got heavy.
"Herbs work better in sleep." I heard Mary.
Silver reclined my head down on the pillow, "Saturday night, we're going to a club." Silver smiled down at me.
I tried to smile but I wasn't certain. I closed my eyes, drifting into the dark.
