Chapter 75

Ch. 75 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

I was so mad at myself afterward that I took it out on things they brought for me. I needed warm clothes. I couldn't walk in the house to carry more clothes with me.

My phone vibrated. I was already holding it. I swiped on Jasper's message.

'What's got into you?'

Shouldn't he ask our mother? I peered out of the window, turning my neck. Jasper was sitting in the passenger seat and he was already looking at me. He wasn't the only one. I didn't dare to turn my gaze at Elizabeth and Silver.

Another message popped up from Drake. Before I could click, my phone began to ring. His name flashed on the screen. I thought about neglecting it first. I shook my head and swiped my thumb against the screen.

I hoisted it up, "Hi," I muttered, putting effect to sound enthusiastic.

"Are you hurt?" He came straight to the point.

"Not much. I can handle it."

"What happened with Silver and Elizabeth?"

I would have answered him if I'd been alone. I just wanted them to treat Samantha nicely. It wasn't a big thing to ask.

"I'll call you later," I disconnected the call and turned it on silent mode.

My phone buzzed. I tapped softly on it.

'We're family. You can't ignore us.'

'I'm not ignoring you. I'm feeling bad about Samantha. We can help her. But no one wants to talk about it, not even you.'

'We'll talk about her. But later. What happened with mom?'

'I don't think I can talk over the phone and message. I promise. I'll talk to you.'

'I'm sending my friend. Take my card. It's my earned money. You won't say no.'

'I'm not taking your money.'

I threw my head back. How would I manage my traveling? Burt! He vanished in thin air and appeared in the air. He could help me. Mom needed to comprehend that she couldn't raise her hand whenever she thought it fitted. She couldn't tell me things to do. Of course, she could guide me.

Timothy pulled over the car reaching the airport. I recognize Charles' private jet. I wasn't getting in.

I jumped out of the car, "Burt, I need your help." I whispered under my breath.

Lonan's gaze turned to me, "Miss Dawson, are you alright?"

Did he think I went nuts? I giggled and shook my head.

"Queen," I heard his low but deep voice.

I whirled and glanced at him with hopeful eyes, "Burt, Can you drop me Scotland, highlands pack's territory?" I asked.

"It's impossible," Jasper said, using his long strides to reach me. My friends were right behind him.

"Can he do that?" Carlos arched his brows in a challenge.

Burt glanced at him. I couldn't doubt my attempt. There must be a way, "Yes," He said.

I jumped and clapped my hands. I pivoted on my balls and grasped my plastic bag, "Okay, take me there, Burt." I said.

He batted his eyes, "Are you hurt?" His voice turned horrible.

My eyes widened with terror. I saw the rage in his eyes. Then a jolt ran down my spine, "Nothing serious. Just got into an argument with mom." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Should I punish her?" His voice did not change.

"No!" I squealed. My eyes flickered around, "Just take me to Highlands Pack's territory. I'll be grateful to you." I said.

"You don't need to request, Queen." He bowed his head and waved his hands in the air, making a large circle in the air.

I could see a dark circle running with more speed in the direction of his hands.

A silent gasp tore from my lips. I was staring at the dark portal.

"Is it safe to travel?" Silver asked.

"It looks safe," Elizabeth said, taking a step closer.

"We are coming with you," Jasper said, "It would save our time." He placed his hand over my shoulder.

I was grateful he wasn't questioning me but his dark blue eyes were seeking answers, "I don't mind." I said.

"We should go. I can't hold it for longer." Burt said.

"Lonan, would you like to go first and check... are we landing in the right place?" Carlos mocked.

I giggled, "True. But I trust, Burt."

Lonan gestured at Timothy, "We are going first. " He said in a soft voice.

Timothy grabbed his luggage and shuffled behind his Alpha. Lonan disappeared in the dark of the portal.

I was glancing at the portal holding my breath.

"It's safe," Alpha Lonan spoke our loudly

Timothy let out a long sigh and hurried toward the portal.

"Come ladies," Carlos smirked and trod forward, vanishing in the dark of the portal.

Silver and Elizabeth glanced at me, "After you," I said.

They nodded in unison and sauntered ahead.

Burt's expression was tightened. We hurried our steps. Jasper curled his arm around my shoulder, before stepping in. It was pitch dark at first. Then blinding light dispersed widely. It felt as if we were walking in a tunnel and the light at the end of the tunnel.

I touched my shoulder. My brows drew together in fear, "Jasper!" A wave of dread tightened my voice. My head jerked to my side. My breathing was turning into a frosty cloud, "Jasper, it's not funny." I tried to look into the dark. Luckily, I could see through the dark with my new eyes, his eyes.

I shuddered in dread when I heard a bloodcurdling howl. In panic, I picked up the pace, rushing out of the tunnel.

My heart was beating in my ears. I found myself in thick wood after crossing the tunnel. I fought back the tears. Dry bushes tore through the skin of my arm. My hands clapped over my mouth. My gaze caught something dark moving in the dry open ground. I didn't want to grab its attention.

"Betty! Silver!" I said out softly.

The thing stopped moving. The creature's head jerked at me. My gasp was barely louder than a whisper. His red eyes were shining bright in the dark. Another creature stopped behind him.

My heart stuttered and skidded in fear. I took a slow step back. They had already heard me. When I saw them jumping in my way.

I did not give it another thought. I spun and took off in a dead sprint. I wasn't bothered about the bushes hurting my delicate skin. I ran as fast as I could straight. I saw water and I turned and ran past the creek.

Whatever they were, I was praying not to follow my scent in the creek. Crossing it, I ran past the trees, I was breathing heavily, I thought to slow my pace. I couldn't take the risk. They would tear me apart with their sharp teeth. They weren't werewolves. I could gurantee.

I picked up my pace again when I heard them howling again. I leap over a shallow ravine, tearing my way past the trees. This place was a nightmare.

An arm leapt over me and grasped me by the upper arm. I opened my mouth to yell. A callous hand clamped over my mouth. I froze in breathless terror.

I stared at Burt. He put his finger over his lips, motioning me to quiet. There was another howl. I nodded with wide, terrified eyes.

He removed his hand and took a long stride back. He didn't move or made a noise, but waved a hand in the air. His gaze was fixed behind me. I swiveled my neck, and a hound emerged. I held my breath in anticipation. He was bigger and deadlier than the werewolf. It sniffed the wind, then let out a fearsome cry. I tremored in fear. His savage red eyes pierced the view ahead of him. His companion joined him a moment later.

I felt a grip over my wrist. Burt pulled me away to another portal. I was still looking back. Their ears pointed at the sky. Their eyes snapped at me. They jumped in the air to reach me.

"No," I let out a squeal, cringing away. The portal closed behind me.

"They're gone. You're safe," Burt said, breathing heavy. His eyes were big.

I yanked my hand away, "What were they?" I breathed in dread, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Hellhounds. They weren't supposed to be here." He said.

"You disappeared. Tell me it was just by mistake or..." Jasper's amber gaze turned to Burt.

Burt stared up at the sky and muttered ancient words, "She's not safe, Alpha Jasper." He said.

"First explain to me what happened there and what was that place?" I asked,

" The animals are from Dark wood of Dark Realm, hell hounds were bred in dark wood beneath on the outer rim of the kingdom." Burt said, his voice was calm, his gaze lost in distance.

"Who will bring up such dangerous animals?" I asked.

"We should take Miss Dawson inside. She needs medical care and rest." Lonan said.

"Can you send me there?" Carlos asked.

"No way! I've seen them. They're triple your size, red eyes.." I shook my head. The hair rose at the back of my neck. recalling their bloodlust gaze and horrible creatures. I was shaking so hard, "You're not going there."

Jasper took me in an embrace, "You're safe, pumpkin." He patted the side of my face. I felt pain in my cheek which I didn't notice under my fear.

There is someone else who does not want me to reach the Dark Realm. He would have been successful if Burt hadn't come.

"Thank you, Burt," I said, inhaling.

He bowed his head and disappeared.

"We're not traveling like this ever," Jasper announced, tugging me toward the stone path. My gaze drifted around at the beautiful sight. It was dark but I could see clearly. It worked like ointment on my fear.
