He cut the skin of his palm with a sharp edge. My lips parted when the cut began to heal quickly. When he removed the blade away, one drop of crimson fell in the glass sliding across his palm. I gulped. He grabbed it and outstretched his hand. Deep concern was embedded from my friends' faces. I wasn't certain, either.
My hands were shaking when I advanced my hand. I grasped it and stared down at the liquid. His blood couldn't mix with water. It was swirling in the water. I gagged.
"Drink it. Imagine, it's pomegranate juice." Silver said, offering her best smile.
"It's safe," I saw fading glistening around her palm as Elizabeth waved her hand over the glass. Her magic was beyond my imagination.
I nodded and held my breath before gulping a nasty thing through my throat. I was expecting myself to vomit. But it felt just like water, "Why did you ask me to drink...." I couldn't say 'your blood'.
He held my hand again. His fingers brushed the back of my hand. His touch spread like a wave in me. My gaze swept over his face. He was flashing a warm smile. My eyes were forced to shut. I couldn't protest against the strong power.
I opened my eyes. My body trembled in fear. I wasn't in the hall, sitting in front of the hearth, not surrounded by my friends. I heard my heart beating loud in my ears.
It was an unknown foreign place. I inhaled a slow breath. Everything was of the finest wood in this hall. That wasn't the centre of my attention. I was feeling cold. I took a step forward, "Hi, is anybody home?" I asked in a slow voice, fearing my loud voice would disturb the peace of this beautiful hall. I didn't know. How did I get here?
I felt someone walking toward me but there wasn't any sound of footsteps. I tried to suppress my fear.
Aragon walked into the hall, holding two glasses and a bottle of whisky. He was smiling ear to ear, looking younger, a teenage version, his pace was a little jumpy with excitement. He was facing me.
"Aragon, did I sleep? Where are my friends? You haven't told us anything yet," I asked, taking a long stride at him.
First, he seemed to ignore me, "Are you sure about it, my friend?" His words confused me.
"My friend!" I shot my brows up to his question. We weren't friends. Aragon turned, confusing me more. I thinned my lips, "What are you talking about? I was sure of course, now tell me how to reach the Dark Realm? " I said.
My body stiffened, when he turned his head, showing his back to me, "I'll protect her. Of course, you're my only family. She's yours. She's my family too." He said, looking at the door.
I lifted my gaze. My heart began to thud! Thud! Thud! in my ears. A smile crawled over my face, "Dastien," I breathed.
His forest green eyes shot at me, "Reincarnation," Dastien spoke.
Aragon offered him the glass. His soft smile never wavered.
He gripped it. He downed it immediately.
I chuckled, "I thought, you never drink." I walked over to him and lifted my hand to touch his cheek.
I gasped in fear when my hand swiped through him, "Am I dead? Your blood killed me," I yelled in fear. My body prickled with tension, "Hi! What did you do to me?" I asked angrily, turning to Aragon and then to Dastien. They didn't react that I was also in the room, "Am I a ghost?" Tears pierced in my eyes.
"You're in one of my memories." I shuddered to hear a husky voice in my ears.
"Dastien!" My eyes shot to him. He was looking deep into his thoughts, "Do you wanna show me something?" I asked.
"I'll protect her in your absence," Aragon promised him.
Dastien's lips twisted up slightly as he slapped his hand over his shoulder.
"Time to come back," The husky voice echoed in my ears again.
"No," I rushed forward, stopping in front of him, "Let me stay more. I understand. You promised him to babysit me, I didn't know the exact timing. But you did. Please, let me stay," I couldn't complete when everything began to swirl around me.
I jerked my eyes open. He was still holding my hand. My breathing was coming in and out rapidly. I opened my mouth to ask, but the command in his gaze stopped me. It was my secret to carry.
"Holy shit! You scared us," Elizabeth squeaked.
"Are you alright?" Silver asked. They were staring down at me, all were encircling me.
I nodded my head, still trying to recall his memory in my mind. I didn't wanna forget it ever.
"You'll be fine now," He said, rubbing his hand on the back of my hand. He was his friend. I wanted to know a lot of things, but he wouldn't say anything. Not in front of them, maybe somewhere else.
"You know. How can I reach the Dark Realm?" I asked.
"Cassandra. Your next destination," He glanced at Elizabeth.
"Grandma!" Elizabeth asked, a little shocked.
Aragon nodded and turned to me, "I'll walk you to your car," He said, getting on his feet before anyone could ask him anything.
I pushed myself to my feet, "Yes, thank you," I looked at him, encouraging myself to ask him about what I saw.
I squinted at them. They were walking ahead of us, "Why did you show me that?" I asked in a low voice. He could have waved it with his magic too. But I didn't know they were capable of doing this.
"One day, you'll know," He smiled.
It was more confusing than other things, "Why don't you tell me now," I smiled. It was unbelievable, but I was walking with a vampire. Instead of running away from him, I was talking to him comfortably.
"Remember! You need help from dark and light, both. Dark isn't always trustworthy. But on some level, it is," Aragon said.
"I didn't understand," I asked. I was praying for him to answer at least one question of mine in a simple language. The language that I could understand.
"Your friend is a light faerie, pure soul. She's the light of a dark faerie." He said and kissed my cheek. Clearly, telling me that it was the end of our conversation.
"Thank you for everything," I embraced him.
He chuckled deeply and placed his hand on my back. His laugh was so mesmeric. I shook my head. Definitely, he wouldn't try to trap me, "You're light of his dark," He muttered in my ear
"Can't I know more?" I knew he wouldn't. I wanted to try.
"Your friends are waiting." He said.
"Yea," I sauntered to the car and stood next to my friends.
"You look comfortable with him," Silver looked at me.
"He helped me. Didn't he?" I asked her. Though, I couldn't understand anything.
Sighing, she nodded and opened the door of the car. Elizabeth climbed in next. I wanted to go back and ask him to take me back to memory. I wanted reality more than hallucinations. I couldn't suppress the strong need to be in the dream again. I got in the car and closed the door.
It was too late, past midnight when he came back to the academy. there was no one outside to see us walking over. There was silence as we sauntered to the SevenA.
Silver held Alessandro's hand. She was going to stay with him. When Elizabeth turned to the dormitory.
"Betty, we can share the room. " I told her. I knew. She didn't want to be alone.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"We can talk about fashion, watch a movie. In case, we couldn't sleep. " I nodded immediately. I wanted to talk to her about her grandma. I couldn't tell her what I saw in his memory.
"That'll be great. I'll bring you clothes in the morning." Silver said.
Elizabeth's gaze locked with Edward. He shifted on his feet, "I should talk to Donovan. that you can't join classes tomorrow." Edward said.
Alessandro whispered to Silver. She glanced at him and nodded. He strode toward Edward.
"He needs to tell everything to the headmaster." Silver said, exhaling, "I don't wanna miss a movie. You'll be bored without me. I'm a fashion queen."
I giggled. It was true. She's a fashion icon of the academy.
"He'll be back soon," Elizabeth ran her hands in her hair, tucking them back on her shoulders.
"Of course, they will." Silver rolled her eyes. We began our pace. My feet stopped when I saw Samantha sitting alone on the bench. She was crying silently.
"Are you pitying her? She tried to kill you." Silver said.
I looked at her. Did she? She tried to hurt me, not mentally but physically too. Was she the only one? But I didn't utter a word.
"Let's go. I need to inform grandma, too." Elizabeth held our hands, pulling us away from her.
I glanced up at my shoulder, my hair bounced back. Samantha was looking at me. She was my cousin. I would talk to Dastien. Maybe, she could get her wolf back. Her hurt expression was showing her remorse.
Elizabeth and Silver wore a smile, "We'll stay with you until the boys return." Silver said.
"Boy." Elizabeth corrected her. Her smile vanished.
"You're not alone,'' I told her.
" You need to talk to him. Complete your bond." Silver suggested.
I looked away. That wasn't my topic to discuss. I had decided nothing more than to talk to him. I wanted to know him first.
"It's not so easy," Elizabeth said.
"Why don't you get married? Things will be easy then," I said, "If you're not ready. Leave it." I told her.
"Everything scares me now," Elizabeth said.
"Why?" Silver and I asked in unison.
"I'm a light faerie. But I haven't discovered anything unusual about my powers." She said.
Aragon said it too, "Light Faerie?" I asked.
"A pure soul! A powerful Faerie that you won't see in centuries." Silver said. A proud note in her tone.
"Is your power stopping you?" I asked.
"No, my Faerie side has accepted him as her mate." Elizabeth blushed,
"Then what's the problem?" Silver asked.
"Grandma, she doesn't like him." Her smile faded.
Aragon's words hovered in my mind. I couldn't ask her directly, "Is she light Faerie, too?" I asked.
"No, she's a dark fae. I hope she won't bargain with us," Elizabeth looked so concerned suddenly.
"Bargain word scares me," I muttered.
"You have to promise. You won't do anything stupid," Silver extended her hand.
"What's that mean?" I asked.
"Her grandma was behind her curse." Silver said.
"What?" I squealed, "No in f***** hell. We're not going there." I said.
"I want this too but I fear we have no other way," Silver said.
"No, means no. She could have asked anything. Anything. Your mate too." I said
She nodded and smiled at my concern, "She has asked many times,'' She sighed, " It felt so good to admit in front of you two."
"You could have told me before," Silver thinned her lips.
"She wasn't the one breaking the curse," Elizabeth said.
I mulled over it. I would never get happiness, sacrificing her, "We shouldn't go there,"
"Don't be ridiculous," Elizabeth said.
"I'm being practical," I said, "We could have asked someone. Someone close to her power."
"She asked me, but never forced me," Elizabeth murmured.
"She shouldn't even ask you. Doesn't she know? It would hurt like hell?" I asked her.
"She believed my power would heal it,"
"Nothing can heal the pain of your mate going away," Silver said.
"We're not asking for your grandma's help. I can believe you can do this or someone powerful like you. We don't need her," I told them and turned away. I wouldn't sacrifice her.
