Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 73

Ch. 73 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

We got up to get some food. We could order but I needed time away from them. I never planned anything, not even the quest of books and clues.

"Johnson Bidan. I think we should find him. He could make things easy." Elizabeth suggested.

"No one knows. Where did he vanish after writing the series of dark books?" Silver shook her head.

My heart caught in my throat at the thought of what would happen now. I lost my eyes in the fae realm. What would happen now?

"We need to go by evening. After lunch, let's go for a run. I'm going with Edward. He didn't want to leave me alone." Elizabeth sighed.

"A week! He was going crazy. When Burt told you about your whereabouts, he was relieved but he wanted to get to you as soon as possible." Silver shivered.

I whirled on my heels and saw Edward and Alessandro drifting toward us. I grabbed a sandwich and a water bottle, "See you later, girls." I hurried my steps toward the door. I didn't look back at them nor did I lift my head. Edward must have held me responsible for everything that happened. I didn't wanna contemplate in which conditions he would have brought me back. I wasn't running away just ignoring, giving time to myself.

I went toward the wood. There was nothing harmful. I stared at the sandwich. I wasn't hungry. My feet kept moving deep in the wood.

I halted when I heard someone crying. I looked around but there was no one. I tried to hear again. The voice was weak but clear in the silence of wood. My feet carried me in that direction. My gaze kept finding the person.

I halted. I blinked in surprise. Samantha was crying. Her head was between her knees and she was hugging her legs to her chest.

My hand tightened around the water bottle. I began my pace slowly. I didn't want to startle her. I was feeling bad for her.

"Samantha," I softly said her name, stopping a few strides away from her. She hated me. She could attack me.

She lifted her head. I saw a sharp knife in her hand. The hilt was made of wood. She stared at me with her big glassy amber eyes. She must be looking at my eyes. All the students were doing, just gawking at me with an open mouth.

"You have our Mothers' eyes," I told her and plucked the remaining steps at her. I knew she could stab me but I should make at least an attempt, "Beautiful amber eyes," I sat next to her and leaned back against the trunk.

She just stared at me with shocked eyes. She mustn't have expected this. Well me neither.

I put the water bottle down and tore the sandwich into two pieces. I advanced my hand at her.

She stared at me and then at the sandwich in disbelief.

I took a bite of mine, "It's a tasty cheese sandwich." I said while chewing.

She took it with hesitation and took a small bite. She didn't peel her eyes off of me. I didn't know any word that could help her. So, I ate my share, looking deep into the wood. I could feel her gaze on me, her second hand on the dagger as she was holding the sandwich and chewing on it.

"He's your mate," She said, her eyes didn't blink, didn't move away from me.

"He is." I nodded, taking the last bite of my sandwich and chewing on it.

"How are your friends?" She asked. There wasn't sarcasm but the pain in her voice.

"Your friends are fine." I looked at her, chewing.

"I almost killed Silver," Her tears streamed down. I know she didn't want to hurt her ever. They were her friends, her mate. I was the one who ruined everything.

"No," I shook my head, "You can never hurt your friends. You know this, your heart knows this." I told her.

She nodded, "I'm not sorry for shooting at you." She said, squeezing the bridge of her nose.

"I know." I offered her a water bottle, "Truce?" I asked.

She took the water bottle, her eyes staring at me, only at me, "I don't need your sympathy." She snapped.

"You're a strong girl," I told her.

She laughed toying with the bottle, "Not without my wolf," She said. Sadness could be felt from her voice.

I got on my feet, "I'll talk to Dastien. If he could reverse his magic." I told her.

Shock appeared in her eyes. She opened her mouth but couldn't utter a word.

"Sam," I startled and jumped on my feet. My eyes met a dark pair of eyes. His wavy brown hair was long touching his shoulders over his dark suit, he was over six feet tall. He looked strong like rock and handsome. He lifted his hand. His gaze stopped at my eyes, "I didn't mean to startle you," He said softly.

"He's Lonan Scott. Highlands Pack's Alpha in Scotland." She got on her feet, "He's my mate," She looked scared.

"Oh!" I shrieked happily, "Hi, Alpha Lonan. I'm Emma." I smiled.

"Everyone knows you," He nodded. His gaze turned to Samantha. She looked scared. But why?

"Are you okay, Love?" He said, taking long strides at her. He touched the side of her head, running his fingers in her silky blonde hair.

She nodded with glassy eyes. I was the cause of her pain.

"What's happening here?" Silver voice was sharp as they hurried toward me.

I didn't want them to ruin her moment in front of her mate. I had already ruined a lot of things.

"Lonan, She's Silver and Elizabeth. My friends," Smantha smiled. Her gaze was nervous on them.

Before they could destroy her moment, "Drake is leaving for a few days and Lance is here." I said, giving a look to Silver and Elizabeth.

Samantha nodded and glanced at them.

I stared at them, folded my arms over my chest.

"Lonan, Highlands pack," Elizabeth asked.

"Yes, Miss Smith." He nodded.

"Alex wants to talk to you." Silver said, folding her arms too.

I turned to Samantha again, "See you." Isuggested.

"Emma," She hesitated.

"Yes," I asked.

"Thank you," She said.

With a nod, I turned to them and walked away. They scurried behind me, "What were you doing there? She could have hurt you." Silver whispered.

"She's your friend. Can't you see her tears?" I asked her. Nothing was fake.

"No, all I remember is her gun pointed at you." Silver said.

"Lower your voice, Silver. Don't hurt her more. You were her friends. I know what she did was wrong." We kept walking.

"I could feel it. She's hurt." Elizabeth said.

"I don't care. I faced death. " Silver hurried her steps, sprinting away. She was angry

"Silver! Silver! We can forgive her for her new life." I said.

"New life! It's a cursed life. A life without wolf is... it's not living. You won't understand." She said, her feet didn't stop for a second.

"No one can understand more than me," I muttered. Emotions clogged my throat.

"Stay away from Samantha. I don't trust her." She warned me.

"She won't harm me. You know this, too." I told her.

"Listen to Silver." She left with a shake of her head. I understood their fear here but Samantha needed a new start. We needed to help her.

The sun was setting down. I should get back home.
